<b>Objective:</b> The objective is to<span "=""> compare a regular ovitrap versus an innovated larvitrap for monitoring <i>Aedes</i> spp. populations. <b>Materials an... <b>Objective:</b> The objective is to<span "=""> compare a regular ovitrap versus an innovated larvitrap for monitoring <i>Aedes</i> spp. populations. <b>Materials and Methods</b></span><b>:</b><span "=""> A total of 20 regular ovitraps and 20 innovated larvitraps were placed in pairs in 20 houses from the 5 de Febrero neighborhood in Tapachula, Chiapas, Mexico. The innovation consisted in the incorporation of a valve in the lower part of a half tire to drain the contents in a 2 L collection container. The evaluation was carried out during five weeks, collecting eggs and larvae from the ovitraps and innovated larvitraps, respectively. Positivity indexes and insectary production of adult <i>Aedes</i> spp. mosquitoes were compared by collection type. <b>Results</b></span><b>:</b><span "=""> Average positivity index for the five weeks period were 60% for ovitraps and 91.25% for innovated larvitraps. During the five weeks, 4043 <i>Ae.</i> <i>aegypti</i> and 703 <i>Ae.</i> <i>albopictus</i> adult mosquitoes were produced in the insectary from the eggs collected from ovitraps, while from innovated larvitraps were 9014 <i>Ae.</i> <i>aegypti</i>, 1205 <i>Ae.</i> <i>albopictus</i>, and 15 <i>Culex</i> spp. <b>Conclusion</b></span><b>:</b><span "=""> Collection by the innovated larvitrap was more efficient, collecting 3.56 times more <i>Ae.</i> <i>aegypti</i> than with ovitraps, using approximately the same effort in time for replacing the filter paper from traditional 1 L ovitraps. Since the logistics for the storage and placement of larvitraps may still be a disadvantage in comparison with ovitraps, their use could be specifically intended in sentinel sites for mosquito population monitoring for entomological surveillance purposes. 展开更多

Senior corporate managers' innovation ability and spirit are very important in the growth process of corporate business development. This paper focuses on the innovation capacities of the senior corporate managers of listed companies in China and the complex relationship between firm performance and the operating environment to study and analyze the management and development of Chinese enterprises. Through relevant theoretical analysis and development of research hypotheses using the A-shares in Shanghai and Shenzhen listed companies announced in 2007 and 2008, the authors design an empirical model. The study found that in Chinese listed companies, the higher the innovation spirit of senior corporate managers, the better their business performances; the stronger the dynamic and complexity of the operating environment, the more the corporate managers' innovation ability will be developed. 展开更多

A Need to Innovate the Dutch Building Regulation

In 2008, two governmental committees presented their conclusions on strengthening the role of the private building sector in building control. In 2011, three new studies were commissioned by the government to address perceived problems. One of them was an integral study, executed by ERB (Foundation Expertcentre Regulations in Building), RIGO (Research Institute for Real Estate) and TNO (Research Institute for Applied Technologies), to innovate the whole building regulations system. It led to proposals to redefine responsibility and liability for all parties. This study states that by an effort of yearly £100 million, unnecessary costs up to £l billion can be avoided and a real quality push will take place in the building and real estate markets. The goals to reach are to minimize the administrative burden for the building owner and to enforce the construction industry to build conforming to the regulations. This paper discusses the ERB study and the given proposals. The ERB study demonstrated that a quality push is needed which potential will lead to less costs for building owners. It also shows that proven solutions, part of the regulations, might be of help for all parties involved. 展开更多

Single-atom nanozymes(SAzymes)exhibit exceptional catalytic efficiency due to their maximized atom utilization and precisely modulated metalcarrier interactions,which have attracted significant attention in the biomedical field.However,stability issues may impede the clinical translation of SAzymes.This review provides a comprehensive overview of the applications of SAzymes in various biomedical fields,including disease diagnosis(e.g.,biosensors and diagnostic imaging),antitumor therapy(e.g.,photothermal therapy,photodynamic therapy,sonodynamic therapy,and immunotherapy),antimicrobial therapy,and anti-oxidative stress therapy.More importantly,the existing challenges of SAzymes are discussed,such as metal atom clustering and active site loss,ligand bond breakage at high temperature,insufficient environment tolerance,biosecurity risks,and limited catalytic long-term stability.Finally,several innovative strategies to address these stability concerns are proposed—synthesis process optimization(space-limited strategy,coordination site design,bimetallic synergistic strategy,defect engineering strategy,atom stripping-capture),surface modification,and dynamic responsive design—that collectively pave the way for robust,clinically viable SAzymes. 展开更多

Long-life energy storage batteries are integral to energy storage systems and electric vehicles,with lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)currently being the preferred option for extended usage-life energy storage.To further extend the life span of LIBs,it is essential to intensify investments in battery design,manufacturing processes,and the advancement of ancillary materials.The pursuit of long durability introduces new challenges for battery energy density.The advent of electrode material offers effective support in enhancing the battery’s long-duration performance.Often underestimated as part of the cathode composition,the binder plays a pivotal role in the longevity and electrochemical performance of the electrode.Maintaining the mechanical integrity of the electrode through judicious binder design is a fundamental requirement for achieving consistent long-life cycles and high energy density.This paper primarily concentrates on the commonly employed cathode systems in lithium-ion batteries,elucidates the significance of binders for both,discusses the application status,strengths,and weaknesses of novel binders,and ultimately puts forth corresponding optimization strategies.It underscores the critical function of binders in enhancing battery performance and advancing the sustainable development of lithium-ion batteries,aiming to offer fresh insights and perspectives for the design of high-performance LIBs. 展开更多

The rapid development of new-quality productive forces(NQPF)has intensified the demand for high-level innovative talent.As a representative of NQPF,generative artificial intelligence(GenAI)offers powerful tools to reshape talent cultivation but also presents significant challenges,including skill hollowing,ethical risks,and a growing disconnect between education and industry needs.Currently,graduate-level software engineering education struggles with outdated curricula and insufficient alignment with practical demands.In this paper,we propose a dual-core collaborative framework driven by“GenAI technology”and“industry demand”.Under this framework,we design a four-dimensional capability development path to enhance graduate students’innovation in software engineering practice.This path focuses on①scientific research innovation,②engineering problem-solving,③cross-domain collaborative evolution,and④ethical risk governance.The proposed approach promotes a shift from traditional knowledge transfer to human-machine collaborative innovation,aligning talent cultivation with the demands of the NQPF. 展开更多
