With the continuous increase of aeroengine flight ceiling(>20 km),the thin atmosphere at high altitudes and the size effect all cause the compressor component inlet Reynolds number to decrease rapidly to a critical value(approximately 2.0×10^(5)),and the significant transition process on the blade/endwall surface leads to the sharp degradation of compressor performance,which seriously affects the engine fuel consumption and working stability at high altitudes.In this paper,the research progress on the internal flow mechanism and flow control methods of axial compressors at low Reynolds numbers is reviewed from the aspects of quantification and prediction of performance variation,flow loss mechanism related to separation and transition,efficient transition control and flow field organization.The development trend of the low-Reynolds-number effect of axial flow compressors is noted,and the difficulties and application prospects of aerodynamic design and efficient flow control methods for compressors under low Reynolds numbers at high altitudes are discussed. 展开更多

The boundary conditions can thus be satisfied exactly without increasing the computational time. The novel scheme is useful for computing transonic, strong disturbance, unsteady flows with high reduced frequencies. The scheme makes use of curvefitted orthogonal meshes and the lattice control technique to obtain the optimal grid distribution. The numerical results are satisfactory. 展开更多

Fourier time spectral method for subsonic and transonic flows

The time accuracy of the exponentially accurate Fourier time spectral method(TSM) is examined and compared with a conventional 2nd-order backward difference formula(BDF) method for periodic unsteady flows. In particular, detailed error analysis based on numerical computations is performed on the accuracy of resolving the local pressure coefficient and global integrated force coefficients for smooth subsonic and non-smooth transonic flows with moving shock waves on a pitching airfoil. For smooth subsonic flows, the Fourier TSM method offers a significant accuracy advantage over the BDF method for the prediction of both the local pressure coefficient and integrated force coefficients. For transonic flows where the motion of the discontinuous shock wave contributes significant higherorder harmonic contents to the local pressure fluctuations,a sufficient number of modes must be included before the Fourier TSM provides an advantage over the BDF method.The Fourier TSM, however, still offers better accuracy than the BDF method for integrated force coefficients even for transonic flows. A problem of non-symmetric solutions for symmetric periodic flows due to the use of odd numbers of intervals is uncovered and analyzed. A frequency-searching method is proposed for problems where the frequency is not known a priori. The method is tested on the vortex shedding problem of the flow over a circular cylinder. 展开更多

Civil aviation is one of the industries facing the greatest challenge in reaching carbon neutrality by the middle of this century,and this sector also contributes to adverse impacts on the regional air quality and human health.China exhibits the second highest air passenger turnover worldwide.Our understanding of civil aviation emissionsmust be urgently enhanced,and themitigation potential should be explored.In this study,on the basis of real domestic flight information for 2019,we built a greenhouse gas and air pollution emission inventory for the civil aviation sector in China with the fuel flowmethod based on the cruise and other phases.We thoroughly analyzed emissions by region,aircraft and engine types,and aircraft age,based on which we designed four measures to evaluate the abatement potential.We found that the hydrocarbon(HC),CO,NO_(x),SO_(2),particulate matter(PM)and CO_(2)emissions in 2019 reached 79.9 kt(95%CI[51.6–114.5]),176.3 kt(95%CI[114.5–248.2]),304.2 kt(95%CI[203.4–420.7]),23.2 kt(95%CI[14.2–33.7]),1.0 kt(95%CI[0.61–1.44])and 87.0 Mt(95%CI[57.4–119.6]),respectively.The cruise phase was the major emission phase,accounting for 67%-87%of the total pollutant emissions.If four measures were jointly implemented,the HC,CO,NO_(x),SO_(2),PM and CO_(2)emissions could be reduced by 61%,54%,55%,45%,32%and 38%,respectively.Utilizing lower-emission aircraft and switching travel modes could substantially reduce civil aviation emissions in China. 展开更多

Using traditional particle tracking velocimetry based on optical flow for measuring areas with large velocity gradient changes may cause oversmoothing,resulting in significant measurement errors.To address this problem,the traditional particle tracking velocimetry method based on an optical flow was improved.The level set segmentation algorithm was used to obtain the boundary contour of the region with large velocity gradient changes,and the non-uniform flow field was divided into regions according to the boundary contour to obtain sub-regions with uniform velocity distribution.The particle tracking velocimetry method based on optical flow was used to measure the granular flow velocity in each sub-region,thus avoiding the problem of granular flow distribution.The simulation results show that the measurement accuracy of this method is approximately 10%higher than that of traditional methods.The method was applied to a velocity measurement experiment on dense granular flow in silos,and the velocity distribution of the granular flow was obtained,verifying the practicality of the method in granular flow fields. 展开更多

This paper proposed a method combing YOLOv3 (You Only Look Once v3) and local optical flow method. Based on the dense optical flow method, the optical flow modulus of the area where the human target is detected is calculated to reduce the amount of computation and save the cost in terms of time. And then, a threshold value is set to complete the human behavior identification. Through design algorithm, experimental verification and other steps, the walking, running and falling state of human body in real life indoor sports video was identified. Experimental results show that this algorithm is more advantageous for jogging behavior recognition. 展开更多

The Anjialing No. 1 Coal Mine in Shanxi Province, China, contains a complicated old goaf and an unknown water distribution that hold high potential for serious water hazards. Due to poor detection resolution, previous attempts have failed to determine the scope of the old goal and the water distribution in the mine by separate use of various exploration methods such as seismic method, direct current resistivity, audio magnetotellurics, controlled-source audio-frequency magnetotellurics, and transient electromag-netics. To solve this difficult problem, a combination of the wide-field electromagnetic method and the flow field fitting method with three-dimensional resistivity data inversion was applied to determine the precise scope of the goal and the locations where water is present, and to identify the hydraulic con- nection between the water layers so as to provide reliable technical support for safe coal production. Reasonable results were achieved, with all these goals being met. As a result, a mining area of nearly 4 km^2 has been released for operation. 展开更多

In the meizoseismal areas hit by the China Wenchuan earthquake on May 12, 2008, the disasterprone environment has changed dramatically, making the susceptibility assessment of debris flow more complex and uncertain. After the earthquake, debris flow hazards occurred frequently and effective susceptibility assessment of debris flow has become extremely important. Shenxi gully in Du Jiangyan city, located in the meizoseismal areas, was selected as the study area. Based on the research of disaster-prone environment and the main factors controlling debris flow, the susceptibility zonations of debris flow were mapped using factor weight method(FW), certainty coefficient method(CF) and geomorphic information entropy method(GI). Through comparative analysis, the study showed that these three methods underestimated susceptible degree of debris flow when used in the meizoseismal areas of Wenchuan earthquake. In order to solve this problem, this paper developed a modified certainty coefficient method(M-CF) to reflect the impact of rich loose materials on the susceptible degree of debris flow. In the modified method, the distribution and area of loose materials were obtained by field investigations and postearthquake remote sensing image, and four data sets, namely, lithology, elevation, slop and aspect, wereused to calculate the CF values. The result of M-CF method is in agreement with field investigations and the accuracy of the method is satisfied. The method has a wide application to the susceptibility assessment of debris flow in the earthquake stricken areas. 展开更多

Three-dimensional color particle image velocimetry based on a cross-correlation and optical flow method

Rainbow particle image velocimetry(PIV)can restore the three-dimensional velocity field of particles with a single camera;however,it requires a relatively long time to complete the reconstruction.This paper proposes a hybrid algorithm that combines the fast Fourier transform(FFT)based co-correlation algorithm and the Horn–Schunck(HS)optical flow pyramid iterative algorithm to increase the reconstruction speed.The Rankine vortex simulation experiment was performed,in which the particle velocity field was reconstructed using the proposed algorithm and the rainbow PIV method.The average endpoint error and average angular error of the proposed algorithm were roughly the same as those of the rainbow PIV algorithm;nevertheless,the reconstruction time was 20%shorter.Furthermore,the effect of velocity magnitude and particle density on the reconstruction results was analyzed.In the end,the performance of the proposed algorithm was verified using real experimental single-vortex and double-vortex datasets,from which a similar particle velocity field was obtained compared with the rainbow PIV algorithm.The results show that the reconstruction speed of the proposed hybrid algorithm is approximately 25%faster than that of the rainbow PIV algorithm. 展开更多

To reduce computational costs, an improved form of the frequency domain boundary element method(BEM) is proposed for two-dimensional radiation and propagation acoustic problems in a subsonic uniform flow with arbitrary orientation. The boundary integral equation(BIE) representation solves the two-dimensional convected Helmholtz equation(CHE) and its fundamental solution, which must satisfy a new Sommerfeld radiation condition(SRC) in the physical space. In order to facilitate conventional formulations, the variables of the advanced form are expressed only in terms of the acoustic pressure as well as its normal and tangential derivatives, and their multiplication operators are based on the convected Green's kernel and its modified derivative. The proposed approach significantly reduces the CPU times of classical computational codes for modeling acoustic domains with arbitrary mean flow. It is validated by a comparison with the analytical solutions for the sound radiation problems of monopole,dipole and quadrupole sources in the presence of a subsonic uniform flow with arbitrary orientation. 展开更多

An improved optical flow method to estimate Arctic sea ice velocity(winter 2014-2016)

Sea ice velocity impacts the distribution of sea ice,and the flux of exported sea ice through the Fram Strait increases with increasing ice velocity.Therefore,improving the accuracy of estimates of the sea ice velocity is important.We introduce a pyramid algorithm into the Horn-Schunck optical flow(HS-OF)method(to develop the PHS-OF method).Before calculating the sea ice velocity,we generate multilayer pyramid images from an original brightness temperature image.Then,the sea ice velocity of the pyramid layer is calculated,and the ice velocity in the original image is calculated by layer iteration.Winter Arctic sea ice velocities from 2014 to 2016 are obtained and used to discuss the accuracy of the HS-OF method and PHS-OF(specifically the 2-layer PHS-OF(2 LPHS-OF)and 4-layer PHS-OF(4 LPHS-OF))methods.The results prove that the PHS-OF method indeed improves the accuracy of sea ice velocity estimates,and the 2 LPHS-OF scheme is more appropriate for estimating ice velocity.The error is smaller for the 2 LPHS-OF velocity estimates than values from the Ocean and Sea Ice Satellite Application Facility and the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service,and estimates of changes in velocity by the 2 LPHS-OF method are consistent with those from the National Snow and Ice Data Center.Sea ice undergoes two main motion patterns,i.e.,transpolar drift and the Beaufort Gyre.In addition,cyclonic and anticyclonic ice drift occurred during winter 2016.Variations in sea ice velocity are related to the open water area,sea ice retreat time and length of the open water season. 展开更多

To study the variation of temperature and velocity of liquid (or semisolid) aluminum during dynamic solidification the numerical simulation was carried out with the theory of heat-transfer and hydrodynamics by means of 3-dimensional finite element method. From simulation results, it is found that the variation of temperature and velocityis mainly influenced by the casting temperature of aluminum, rotating speed of Castex wheel and flow of cooling water. Among theseinfluencing factors, the casting temperature distributes most to the length of liquid phase metal. Moreover, the faster the metal solidifies,the higher the metal there moves with the overall trend of descending from the bottom of the wheel to the shoe wall as well as from sidewalls to the center of wheel groove. The motion of the point was calculated using the change in pixel intensity within two temporally adjacent frame images. A three-dimensional, nineteen-velocity(D3Q19) Lattice Boltzmann Method(LBM) model was developed to simulate the fluid flow of a laminar square jet in cross flows based on the single relaxation time algorithm. The code was validated by the mathematic solution of the Poiseuille flow in a square channel, and was further validated with a previous well studied empirical correlation for the central trajectory of a jet in cross flows. The developed LBM model was found to be able to capture the dominant vortex, i.e. the Counter-rotating Vortex Pair(CVP) and the upright wake vortex. Results show that the incoming fluid in the cross flow channel was entrained into the leeside of the jet fluid, which contributes to the blending of the jet. That the spread width of the transverse jet decreases with the velocity ratio. A layer-organized entrainment pattern was found indicating that the incoming fluid at the lower position is firstly entrained into the leeside of the jet, and followed by the incoming fluid at the upper position. 展开更多

The fatigue of concrete structures will gradually appear after being subjected to alternating loads for a long time,and the accidents caused by fatigue failure of bridge structures also appear from time to time.Aiming at the problem of degradation of long-span continuous rigid frame bridges due to fatigue and environmental effects,this paper suggests a method to analyze the fatigue degradation mechanism of this type of bridge,which combines long-term in-site monitoring data collected by the health monitoring system(HMS)and fatigue theory.In the paper,the authors mainly carry out the research work in the following aspects:First of all,a long-span continuous rigid frame bridge installed with HMS is used as an example,and a large amount of health monitoring data have been acquired,which can provide efficient information for fatigue in terms of equivalent stress range and cumulative number of stress cycles;next,for calculating the cumulative fatigue damage of the bridge structure,fatigue stress spectrum got by rain flow counting method,S-N curves and damage criteria are used for fatigue damage analysis.Moreover,it was considered a linear accumulation damage through the Palmgren-Miner rule for the counting of stress cycles.The health monitoring data are adopted to obtain fatigue stress data and the rain flow counting method is used to count the amplitude varying fatigue stress.The proposed fatigue reliability approach in the paper can estimate the fatigue damage degree and its evolution law of bridge structures well,and also can help bridge engineers do the assessment of future service duration. 展开更多
