Predicting and controlling springback accurately is essential for the design of the toolpath for ISF. A three-dimensional elasto-plastic finite element model (FEM) was developed to simulate the process and the simulated results were compared with those from the experiment. The springback angle was found to be in accordance with the experimental result, proving the FEM to be effective. A coupled artificial neural networks (ANN) and finite element method technique was developed to simulate and predict springback responses to changes in the processing parameters. A particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm was used to optimize the weights and thresholds of the neural network model. The neural network was trained using available FEM simulation data. The results showed that a more accurate prediction of s!oringback can be acquired using the FEM-PSONN model.展开更多

However, due to its poor machinability, GH416g is hard to be cut and generates saw-tooth chips during high speed machining, which could significantly affect the dynamic cutting force, cutting temperature fluctuation, tool life, and the surface integrity of the parts. In this paper, the saw-tooth chip formation mechanism of superalloy GH4169 was investigated by the elasto-viscoplastic finite element method (FEM). Using the finite element software of ABAQUS/Explicit, the deformation of the part during high speed machining was simulated. The effective plastic strain, the temperature field, the stress distribution, and the cutting force were analyzed to determine the influence of the cutting parameters on the saw-tooth chip formation. The study on broaching performance has great effect on selecting suitable machining parameters and improving tool life.展开更多

The results show that in this process there is a reciprocal relationship between the natural logarithm of hydrogen diffusion coefficient and temperature. The cooling rate decreases gradually with the increase of steel plate thickness. The hydrogen content is higher at high temperature (500-400 ℃) than that in low temperature region (300-100 ℃). Two FE tree models were investigated:One model was generated based on a realistic nature-looking geometric tree model, and the other was a symmetric model to investigate the influence of asymmetric material properties on tree motion. The vortex-induced vibration(VIV) theory is introduced to estimate the fluctuating wind force being exerted on tree stems and the fluid-structure interaction(FSI) analysis is also included in the simulation. The results indicate that asymmetric material properties result in the crosswind displacement of the investigated node and the main swaying direction deviation. The simulation reveals that under wind loading,a tree with leaves has much larger swaying amplitude along the wind direction and longer swaying period than a tree without leaves. However, the crosswind swaying amplitude is mainly due to branch interaction. The numerical simulation proved that the inter-action of tree branches can prevent dangerous swaying motion developing.展开更多

文摘A numerical analysis was performed to study the influence of process parameters on the microstructure evolution of IN718 alloy in rotary forging using the finite element method (FEM). For this purpose, a constitutive equation considering the effects of strain hardening and dynamic softening of IN718 alloy was built. The constitutive equation and microstructure models were implemented into the finite element code to investigate the microstructure evolution during rotary forging subject to large deformations. The simulations were carried out in the ratio of initial height to diameter range 0.2-0.8, the angle of the rocker 3°-7° and the relative feed per revolution range 0.01-0.1 r^-1. The research results revealed the deformation mechanism and the correlation of process parameters with the grain size evolution of IN718 alloy during rotary forging. These provide evidence for the selection of rotary forging parameters.
文摘In this study, the limit state equation for tensile reliability analysis of the foundation surface of a gravity dam was established. The possible crack length was set as the action effect and allowable crack length was set as the resistance in the limit state. The nonlinear FEM was used to obtain the crack length of the foundation surface of the gravity dam, and the linear response surface method based on the orthogonal test design method was used to calculate the reliability, providing a reasonable and simple method for calculating the reliability of the serviceability limit state. The Longtan RCC gravity dam was chosen as an example. An orthogonal test, including eleven factors and two levels, was conducted, and the tensile reliability was calculated. The analysis shows that this method is reasonable.

文摘This article presents a micro-structure tensor enhanced elasto-plastic finite element(FE)method to address strength anisotropy in three-dimensional(3D)soil slope stability analysis. The gravity increase method(GIM)is employed to analyze the stability of 3D anisotropic soil slopes. The accuracy of the proposed method is first verified against the data in the literature. We then simulate the 3D soil slope with a straight slope surface and the convex and concave slope surfaces with a 90turning corner to study the 3D effect on slope stability and the failure mechanism under anisotropy conditions.Based on our numerical results, the end effect significantly impacts the failure mechanism and safety factor.Anisotropy degree notably affects the safety factor, with higher degrees leading to deeper landslides. For concave slopes, they can be approximated by straight slopes with suitable boundary conditions to assess their stability.Furthermore,a case study of the Saint-Alban test embankment A in Quebec,Canada,is provided to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed FE model.

文摘Owing to their excellent biocompatibility and potential for durability enhancement, polymeric heart valves(PHVs)are emerging as a promising alternative to traditional prostheses.Unlike conventional materials,PHVs can be manufactured under precise design criteria, enabling targeted performance improvements. This study introduces a geometric optimization strategy for enhancing the durability of PHVs.The finite element method(FEM)is combined with a dip-molding technique to develop a novel polymeric aortic valve with improved mechanical properties. The tri-leaflet geometry is parameterized using B-spline curves, and the maximum stress in the valve is reduced from 2.4802 to 1.7773 MPa using a multiobjective optimization algorithm NSGA-II(non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II).Pre-optimized and optimized valve prototypes were fabricated via dip-molding and evaluated during pulsatile-flow tests and accelerated wear tests. The optimized design meets the ISO 5840 standards, with an effective orifice area of 2.019 cm^(2),a regurgitant fraction of 5.693%,and a transvalvular pressure gradient of 7.576 mmHg.Moreover, the optimized valve maintained its structural integrity and functionality over 14 million cycles of the accelerated wear test, whereas the unoptimized valve failed after two million cycles. These findings confirm that the FEM-based geometric optimization method enhances both the mechanical performance and durability of PHVs.

文摘The hydro-mechanical responses of vegetated deposited slopes are complex and far from clear. On one hand, the soils in deposited slopes are typically poorly consolidated and widely graded, making them vulnerable to internal erosion during rainfall infiltration. On the other hand, vegetation plays a significant role in influencing the hydro-mechanical properties of the soil at the slope surface. This paper presents a coupled seepage-erosion model to investigate the rainfall-induced internal erosion process within vegetated deposited slopes and its impact on slope stability. The detailed seepage-erosion coupling processes were simulated for a series of 1D rooted soil columns with varying root distributions,as well as 2D vegetated layered slopes under both light and heavy rainfall conditions. The numerical results reveal that roots can significantly mitigate rainfall-induced internal erosion, even with shallow root lengths. However, their protective effect on the slope increases as the root density in the superficial soil layer increases.Transpiration can rapidly restore matric suction in the shallow soil during rain intervals, slowing the rainfall-induced seepage-erosion process and thereby increasing slope stability. However,in the absence of transpiration, roots may either accelerate or inhibit the seepage-erosion process, depending on the specific rainfall conditions.
