Radiative cooling systems(RCSs)possess the distinctive capability to dissipate heat energy via solar and thermal radiation,making them suitable for thermal regulation and energy conservation applications,essential for mitigating the energy crisis.A comprehensive review connecting the advancements in engineered radiative cooling systems(ERCSs),encompassing material and structural design as well as thermal and energy-related applications,is currently absent.Herein,this review begins with a concise summary of the essential concepts of ERCSs,followed by an introduction to engineered materials and structures,containing nature-inspired designs,chromatic materials,meta-structural configurations,and multilayered constructions.It subsequently encapsulates the primary applications,including thermal-regulating textiles and energy-saving devices.Next,it highlights the challenges of ERCSs,including maximized thermoregulatory effects,environmental adaptability,scalability and sustainability,and interdisciplinary integration.It seeks to offer direction for forthcoming fundamental research and industrial advancement of radiative cooling systems in real-world applications. 展开更多

Soil pollution endangers human health and ecological balance,which is why finding a highly efficient way to deal with pollutants is necessary.Biological method is an environmentally friendly treatment method.Bioelectrochemical systems(BESs),which combine electrochemistry with biological methods,have been widely used to remediate polluted environments,including wastewater,sludge,sediment,and soil.In BESs,redox reactions occur on electrodes with electroactive bacteria,which convert pollutants into low-polluting or nonpolluting substances.With BESs being a promising technology in the remediation field,the decontamination mechanisms and applications in soil conducted by BESs have attracted much attention.Therefore,to better understand the research progress of BESs,this paper mainly summarizes the mechanism of different classified BESs.The applications of microbial fuel cells(MFCs)in four pollutants(petroleum,heavy metals,pesticides,antibiotics)and the possible applications of microbial electrolysis cells(MECs)in soil are discussed.The main problems in BESs and possible future development directions are also evaluated. 展开更多

Effect of application of K fertilizer and wheat straw to soil on crop yield and status of soil K in the plough layer under different planting systems was studied.The experiments on long-term application of K fertilizer and wheat straw to soil in Hebei fluvo aquic soil and Shanxi brown soil in northern China were begun in 1992.The results showed that K fertilizer and straw could improve the yields of wheat and maize with the order of NPK+St〉NPK〉NP+St〉NP,and treatment of K fertilizer made a significant difference to NP,and the efficiency of K fertilizer in maize was higher than in wheat under rotation system of Hebei.In contrast with Shanxi,the wastage of soil potassium was a more serious issue in the rotation system in Hebei,only treatment of NPK+St showed a surplus of potassium and the others showed a wane.K fertilizer and straw could improve the content of water-soluble K,nonspecifically adsorbed K,non-exchangeable K,mineral K,and total K in contrast to NP;however,K fertilizer and straw reduce the proportion of mineral K and improve proportion of other forms of potassium in the two locating sites.Compared with the beginning of orientation,temporal variability character of soil K content and proportion showed a difference between the two soil types;furthermore,there was a decrease in the content of mineral K and total K simultaneously in the two locating sites.As a whole,the effect of K fertilizer applied to soil directly excelled to wheat straw to soil.Wheat straw to soil was an effective measure to complement potassium to increase crop yield and retard the decrease of soil K. 展开更多

In this paper,we offer a review of type-3 fuzzy logic systems and their applications in control.The main objective of this work is to observe and analyze in detail the applications in the control area using type-3 fuzzy logic systems.In this case,we review their most important applications in control and other related topics with type-3 fuzzy systems.Intelligent algorithms have been receiving increasing attention in control and for this reason a review in this area is important.This paper reviews the main applications that make use of Intelligent Computing methods.Specifically,type-3 fuzzy logic systems.The aim of this research is to be able to appreciate,in detail,the applications in control systems and to point out the scientific trends in the use of Intelligent Computing techniques.This is done with the construction and visualization of bibliometric networks,developed with VosViewer Software,which it is a free Java-based program,mainly intended to be used for analyzing and visualizing bibliometric networks.With this tool,we can create maps of publications,authors,or journals based on a co-citation network or construct maps of keywords,countries based on a co-occurrence networks,research groups,etc. 展开更多

In the field of biomedicine, stimuli-responsive drug delivery systems(DDSs) have become increasingly popular due to their site-specific release ability in response to a certain physiological stimulus, which may result in both enhanced treatment outcome and reduced side effects. Reactive oxygen species(ROS) are the unavoidable consequence of cell oxidative metabolism. ROS play a crucial part in regulating biological and physiological processes,whereas excessive intracellular ROS usually lead to the oxidation stress which has implications in several typical diseases such as cancer, inflammation and atherosclerosis. Therefore,ROS-responsive DDSs have elicited widespread popularity for their promising applications in a series of biomedical research because the payload is only released in targeted cells or tissues that overproduce ROS. According to the design of ROS-responsive DDSs, the main release mechanisms of therapeutic agents can be ascribed to ROS-induced carrier solubility change, ROS-induced carrier cleavage or ROS-induced prodrug linker cleavage. This review summarized the latest development and novel design of ROS-responsive DDSs and discussed their design concepts and the applications in the biomedical field. 展开更多

Energy in its varied forms and applications has become the main driver of today’s modern society. However, recent changes in power demand and climatic changes (decarbonization policy) has awakened the need to rethink through the current energy generating and distribution system. This led to the exploration of other energy sources of which renewable energy (like thermal, solar and wind energy) is fast becoming an integral part of most energy system. However, this innovative and promising energy source is highly unreliable in maintaining a constant peak power that matches demand. Energy storage systems have thus been highlighted as a solution in managing such imbalances and maintaining the stability of supply. Energy storage technologies absorb and store energy, and release it on demand. This includes gravitational potential energy (pumped hydroelectric), chemical energy (batteries), kinetic energy (flywheels or compressed air), and energy in the form of electrical (capacitors) and magnetic fields. This paper provides a detailed and comprehensive overview of some of the state-of-the-art energy storage technologies, its evolution, classification, and comparison along with various area of applications. Also highlighted in this paper is a plethora of power electronic Interface technologies that plays a significant role in enabling optimum performance and utilization of energy storage systems in different areas of application. 展开更多

In this paper, we propose a video searching system that utilizes face recognition as searching indexing feature. As the applications of video cameras have great increase in recent years, face recognition makes a perfect fit for searching targeted individuals within the vast amount of video data. However, the performance of such searching depends on the quality of face images recorded in the video signals. Since the surveillance video cameras record videos without fixed postures for the object, face occlusion is very common in everyday video. The proposed system builds a model for occluded faces using fuzzy principal component analysis(FPCA), and reconstructs the human faces with the available information. Experimental results show that the system has very high efficiency in processing the real life videos, and it is very robust to various kinds of face occlusions. Hence it can relieve people reviewers from the front of the monitors and greatly enhances the efficiency as well. The proposed system has been installed and applied in various environments and has already demonstrated its power by helping solving real cases. 展开更多

The focus of this paper will be to investigate the performance of the technology with respect to various tomography systems and comparison to other similar technologies including the Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC), Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and the microcontroller. Fundamentally, the FPGA is primarily used in the Data Acquisition System (DAQ) due to its better performance and better trade-off as compared to competitor technologies. Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)has been utilized as a useful tool for solving intricate optimization problems for various applications in different fields.This paper attempts to carry out an update on PSO and gives a review of its recent developments and applications,but also provides arguments for its efficacy in resolving optimization problems in comparison with other algorithms.Covering six strategic areas,which include Data Mining,Machine Learning,Engineering Design,Energy Systems,Healthcare,and Robotics,the study demonstrates the versatility and effectiveness of the PSO.Experimental results are,however,used to show the strong and weak parts of PSO,and performance results are included in tables for ease of comparison.The results stress PSO’s efficiency in providing optimal solutions but also show that there are aspects that need to be improved through combination with algorithms or tuning to the parameters of the method.The review of the advantages and limitations of PSO is intended to provide academics and practitioners with a well-rounded view of the methods of employing such a tool most effectively and to encourage optimized designs of PSO in solving theoretical and practical problems in the future. 展开更多

Based on convenience and safety of historical data application, B/S mode is used instead of database management structure of C/S mode, and it can not only combine database and network, but also realize the safe use of historical data online. High-level programming language is used to develop a online management and application system of historical meteorological data based on B/S mode. System data import function can import ground report file sequence of Xuzhou ( including five county-level stations) into the database, construct Oracle database of Xuzhou and the five stations since 1953, and establish data tables of time, day, ten-day, monthly, quarterly and annual historical data, weather information and so forth. Management software of database server is established to realize instruction-level management and scheduling of database and a balanced distribution of resources among users. At the same time, a Web-based management application interface is set up to meet users' needs to retrieve a variety of repositories, and it provides statistical query of time, day, ten-day, monthly, quarterly and annual historical data and climate data for each meteorological element, thereby meeting the needs of meteorological research and all sectors of society for statistical query of meteorological data. 展开更多

This paper aims to fuse two well-established and,at the same time,opposed control techniques,namely,model predictive control(MPC)and active disturbance rejection control(ADRC),to develop a dynamic motion controller for a laser beam steering system.The proposed technique uses the ADRC philosophy to lump disturbances and model uncertainties into a total disturbance.Then,the total disturbance is estimated via a discrete extended state disturbance observer(ESO),and it is used to(1)handle the system constraints in a quadratic optimization problem and(2)injected as a feedforward term to the plant to reject the total disturbance,together with the feedback term obtained by the MPC.The main advantage of the proposed approach is that the MPC is designed based on a straightforward integrator-chain model such that a simple convex optimization problem is performed.Several experiments show the real-time closed-loop performance regarding trajectory tracking and disturbance rejection.Owing to simplicity,the self-contained approach MPC+ESO becomes a Frugal MPC,which is computationally economical,adaptable,efficient,resilient,and suitable for applications where on-board computational resources are limited. 展开更多
