The utilization of color patterns has been widely employed in encryption and displays.Printing-based nanostructures are gaining traction in color displays, showcasing remarkable resolution but facing limitations in reconfigurability. Here,we demonstrate a flexible scanning process using optical tweezers to trap silicon nanoparticles(SiNPs)for converting their trajectories into vibrant dynamic color patterns. In this process, the optical potential well stably captures a single SiNP while moving in three-dimensional space at a speed of about 1000μm/s,leading to the display of dynamic color patterns due to persistence of vision(POV).Leveraging the tunable ability provided by Mie resonances within the visible band, the scattering color can be altered simply by adjusting the number of trapped SiNPs,thereby enabling the creation of tunable high-saturation color patterns. This strategy is further explored for flexible design of composite images with potential applications in anticounterfeiting and dynamic display. 展开更多

Five sampling points for Harmonia axyridis (Pallas) were set in Sifeng Mountain scenic spot and four school districts of Jiamusi University, and diversity of color pattern of overwintering H. axyridis was surveyed from October to December in 2010. Survey results found that there were 16 color patterns of H. axyridis in southern suburb of Jiamusi, 11 species showed yellow background, while the other 5 species were black background, accounting for 68.75% and 31.25% of all the species, respectively. The majority of H. axyridis with yellow background had 18 or 19 spots. Compared with the sampling data in 2006 and 2008, the propor- tions of the color patterns had no significant difference in different years, but it slightly varied with the changes of environment. 展开更多

Methods for computer aided design and analysis on color-woven fabrics are presented. The relation of color pattern, colored warp, colored weft and the model for regular weave texture are given based on their formative principle. Some efficient algorithms are developed to determine the color order of warp and weft threads which yields a given color pattern and regular weave texture. Finally, the design system structure and data process flowing are introduced. 展开更多

A breeding-selection program for the clam, Meretrix meretrix, was conducted since 2004. Two of the selec- tion populations were generated with the shell color pattern as an additional selection criterion and named as SP (purple stripes) population and SB (black dots) population. The third-generation SP and SB popula- tions (08G3SP and 08G3SB, respectively) were cultured at two commercial clam farms and a nursery pond and their shell lengths were compared. 08G3SB clams had significantly larger sizes than 08G3SP clams at commercial clam farms (p 〈 0.05), yet 08G3SB individuals were significantly smaller than 08G3SP individ- uals at the nursery pond (p 〈 0.05). Then, we examined the growth of the fourth-generation SP and SB populations (10G4SP and 10G4SB, respectively) at a commercial farm, and found that the shell lengths of the 10G4SB clams increased at a significantly higher growth rate than the 10G4SP clams (p 〈 0.05) from May to September, when the water temperature was between 24.2-27.5℃, while 10G4SB lost the growth advantage in the other months. These results indicated that SP and SB populations responded differently to environmental factors, so it is beneficial for the clam farmers to select a suitable population according to the culture environment. Furthermore, a diallel mating of the SB and SP populations was designed to investigate whether their hybrid population would show heterosis. However, the heterosis was not shown in this study, which might result from the slight genetic divergence between SB and SP populations. 展开更多

Premating reproductive isolation (RI) may reduce gene flow across populations that have differentiated in traits important for mate choice. Examining RI across genetic and phenotypic clines can inform the fundamental evolutionary processes that underlie population and lineage differentiation. We conducted female mate-choice studies across an intraspecific red-eyed treefrog cline in Costa Rica and Panama with 2 specific aims: (1) to characterize RI across the cline and examine the relationship between premating RI and genetic and phenotypic distance and (2) to evaluate our results within a broader evolutionary and taxonomic perspective through examination of other RI studies. We found that female red-eyed treefrogs prefer local males relative to non-local males, indicating that some premating RI has evolved in this system, but that preference strength is not associated with phenotypic or geographic distance. Our analysis of 65 other studies revealed no clear pattern between the strength of RI and geographic distribution (allopatry, parapatry, cline) or phenotypic distance, but revealed extreme variation and overlap in levels of intra- and interspecific levels of RI. This work contributes to a growing body of literature that examines intraspecific RI across a cline to understand the selective processes that shape evolutionary patterns at the earliest stages of divergence. 展开更多

The inter-class face classification problem is more reasonable than the intra-class classification problem. To address this issue,we have carried out empirical research on classifying Indian people to their geographical regions. This work aimed to construct a computational classification model for classifying Indian regional face images acquired from south and east regions of India, referring to human vision. We have created an Automated Human Intelligence System(AHIS)to evaluate human visual capabilities.Analysis of AHIS response showed that face shape is a discriminative feature among the other facial features. We have developed a modified convolutional neural network to characterize the human vision response to improve face classification accuracy. The proposed model achieved mean F1 and Matthew Correlation Coefficient(MCC)of 0.92 and 0.84,respectively,on the validation set, outperforming the traditional Convolutional Neural Network(CNN).The CNN-Contoured Face(CNN-FC)model is developed to train contoured face images to investigate the influence of face shape. Finally,to cross-validate the accuracy of these models, the traditional CNN model is trained on the same dataset. With an accuracy of 92.98%,the Modified-CNN(M-CNN)model has demonstrated that the proposed method could facilitate the tangible impact in intra-classification problems.A novel Indian regional face dataset is created for supporting this supervised classification work, and it will be available to the research community. 展开更多
