Metheds Twenty healthy volunteer young male students from Southern Medical University were randomly divided into three groups: normal group (A), sleep deprivation group (B) and treatment group (C). Volunteers in group B and C received 48 h sleep deprivation (SD), and in the mean time volunteers in group C were treated by garlic paste at Shenque (神阙 CV8), while those in group A had no any treatment. The body temperature of all the volunteers was detected at 6:00 am, 12:00 am, 6:00 pm and 0:00 am, respectively, after the treatment. Results The mean body temperature values in group A and C both were highest at 6: 00 pm and lowest at 6: 00 am which had a significant difference in each group (P〈0.01); in group B, the mean body temperature was highest at 0:00 am and lowestat 6:00 am, no significant difference was found between them (P〉0.05). Results of cosine analysis showed that in subjects of group B the circadian rhythm of body temperature still kept going well after SD, but the peak amplitude and amplitude of vibration were higher than those of group A, and the acrophase of group B was obviously lower than that of group C and A. The 3 indexes of group C were similar to those of group A, denoting that garlic paste application of Shenque (神阙 CV8) could prevent disorders of circadian rhythm of the body temperature. Conclusion The garlic paste application at Shenque (神阙 CV8) can adjust circadian rhythm and accelerate the recovery processes of circadian rhythm in SD young students.展开更多

METHODS: We searched 7 databases(Pub Med, Cochrane, Embase, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Database, China Science and Technology Journal Database, and China Biology Medicine disc) as well as the international clinical trial registration platform from January 2010 to March 2020 for randomized controlled trials(RCTs) comparing the efficacy of AA versus placebo, Western Medicine or other alternative therapies on AR. Risk of bias was assessed according to the Cochrane handbook, and statistical analysis was performed using Rev Man 5.3. Outcomes included the total effective rate, recurrence rate, total nasal symptom score(TNSS), visual analogue scale(VAS), quality of life measured by the Rhinitis Quality of Life Questionnaire(RQLQ) or Short Form-36(SF-36), adverse events, and biomarkers including immunoglobulin E(Ig E), peripheral blood eosinophil count(EOS), interleukin-4(IL-4), and interferon gamma(INF-γ). RESULTS: Twenty-eight RCTs involving 3282 participants were included. The short-term and long-term efficacy of AA was significantly better than placebo, including better total effective rate [RR: 3.05, 95%CI(1.84, 5.07), after treatment;RR: 9.29, 95%CI(2.57, 33.66), at 6 months], lower recurrence rate [RR: 0.55, 95%CI(0.45, 0.66), at 6 months;RR: 0.65, 95%CI(0.57, 0.74), at 1 year], lower TNSS [MD:-3.09, 95%CI(-3.58,-2.61), after treatment], and lower RQLQ [MD:-14.79, 95%CI(-21.49,-8.10), after treatment;MD:-11.92, 95%CI(-17.40,-6.45), at 4-6 months]. Compared with Western Medicine, AA had better long-term total effective rate [RR: 1.33, 95%CI(1.05, 1.69), at 3 months;RR: 1.49, 95%CI 1.22 to 1.81, at 1 year) and lower recurrence rate [RR: 0.48, 95%CI(0.39, 0.58), at 6 months;RR: 0.45, 95%CI(0.33, 0.60), at 1 year]. AA had better long-term total effective rate versus acupuncture [RR: 2.06, 95% CI(1.28, 3.31), at 1 year] or oral Chinese medicine [RR: 1.21, 95% CI(1.09, 1.34), ≥ 6 months]. Both AA and Western Medicine can reduce serum levels of Ig E, EOS, and IL-4 after treatment. The main adverse event of AA was local skin reaction without systemic side effects. CONCLUSIONS: The short-term(within one month) and long-term(at 3 months, 6 months and 1 year) efficacy of acupoint application on AR was better than that of placebo. The long-term efficacy of acupoint application was superior to that of Western Medicine(at 3 months, 6 months and 1 year), oral Chinese medicine(at more than 6 months) and acupuncture(at 1 year). AA can reduce serum Ig E, EOS, and IL-4 level of AR patients in a short run. Acupoint application is safe, but severe skin reactions can reduce patient compliance.展开更多

文摘The high incidence of hand, foot, and mouth disease(HFMD)in children, coupled with improper management, can lead to complications, causing significant distress to both patients and their parents. This article reports on the successful treatment of a case of HFMD with dampness-heat accumulation in the spleen type using a therapeutic approach of applying herbal patches to acupoints to disperse dampness, promote heat dissipation, and unblock the fu organs. The herbs selected primarily include honeysuckle,Forsythia, and mint to relieve the exterior and promote heat dissipation;Agastache and magnolia bark to transform and dry dampness;Scutellaria, blackberry lily, and licorice to clear heat, detoxify, and benefit the throat;and magnolia bark and bitter orange to unblock the fu organs and purge heat. The flexible combination of these herbs with acupoints such as Shenque,Zhongwan,Tiantu, and Feishu fully leverages the synergistic effects of both the herbs and acupoints, resulting in a significant therapeutic effect. This approach provides valuable insights and methodologies for the prevention and treatment of HFMD in children.
文摘Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of acupoint application in treatment of constipation. Methods Sixty-two cases were randomly divided into 2 groups, named acupoint application group (32 cases) and Chinese herb group (30 cases). In the acupoint application group, Chinese herbal plaster was applied on Tianshu (天枢 ST 25), Gufnyuan (关元 CV 4) and Qihai (气海 CV 6). In the Chinese herb group, Congrong Tongbian Koufuye (苁蓉通便口服液) was administered orally. The efficacy was observed after 7 days treatment. Results The total effective rate was 81.3% (26/32) in the acupoint application group and was 60.0% (18/30) in the Chinese herb group, indicating significant statistical difference in comparison (P〈0.05). The significant difference presented in the time of the first defecation after treatment between two groups (P〈0.05). The defecation promotion in the acupoint appli- cation group was superior to that in the Chinese herb group. The significant difference resulted in the comparison of clinical symptom integral before and after treatment in two groups (P〈0. 05). The group comparison did not present significant difference. Conclusion Acupoint application of Chinese herbs has definite efficacy on constipation. It is convenient in operation, no pain and less toxic side effect and good in compliance.
文摘Objective To explore the influences on functional rehabilitation of affected extremities after suffering windstroke and recurrence rate by weight control. Methods One hundred and seven cases of windstroke were randomized into acupoint application with puncture group (55 cases) and puncture group (52 cases). The total effective rate, the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores, Barthel index score and recurrence rates within one year were observed before and after treatment in two groups. Results The total effective rate was 81.8% in acupoint application with puncture group and 44.2% in puncture group, with statistical significant difference (P〈0 01) ; the significant differences were presented statistically in comparison of NIHSS and Barthel between the two groups after treatment, and in both groups before and after treatment (P〈0.01), and presented as well in comparison of recurrence rates within one year between the two groups (P〈0.05). Conclusion Weight intervention helps to not only recover the function of affected extremities, but also probably be good for reducing recurrence rate of windstroke.
文摘Objective To observe the effect of application of garlic paste at Shenque (神阙 CV8) on the circadian rhythm in sleep deprivation young students. Conclusion The garlic paste application at Shenque (神阙 CV8) can adjust circadian rhythm and accelerate the recovery processes of circadian rhythm in SD young students.

文摘OBJECTIVE: To use evidence-based medicine to explore the efficacy of acupoint application(AA) for allergic rhinitis(AR) at different time points and its safety. Acupoint application is safe, but severe skin reactions can reduce patient compliance.
