Based on BERTopic Model,the paper combines qualitative and quantitative methods to explore the reception of Can Xue’s translated works by analyzing readers’book reviews posted on Goodreads and Lovereading.We first c...Based on BERTopic Model,the paper combines qualitative and quantitative methods to explore the reception of Can Xue’s translated works by analyzing readers’book reviews posted on Goodreads and Lovereading.We first collected book reviews from these two well-known websites by Python.Through topic analysis of these reviews,we identified recurring topics,including details of her translated works and appreciation of their translation quality.Then,employing sentiment and content analysis methods,the paper explored the emotional attitudes and the specific thoughts of readers toward Can Xue and her translated works.The fingdings revealed that,among the 408 reviews,though the reception of Can Xue’s translated works was relatively positive,the current level of attention and recognition remains insufficient.However,based on the research results,the paper can derive valuable insights into the translation and dissemination processes such as adjusting translation and dissemination strategies,so that the global reach of Chinese literature and culture can be better facilitated.展开更多

Weak signal reception is a very important and challenging problem for communication systems especially in the presence of non-Gaussian noise,and in which case the performance of optimal linear correlated receiver degr...Weak signal reception is a very important and challenging problem for communication systems especially in the presence of non-Gaussian noise,and in which case the performance of optimal linear correlated receiver degrades dramatically.Aiming at this,a novel uncorrelated reception scheme based on adaptive bistable stochastic resonance(ABSR)for a weak signal in additive Laplacian noise is investigated.By analyzing the key issue that the quantitative cooperative resonance matching relationship between the characteristics of the noisy signal and the nonlinear bistable system,an analytical expression of the bistable system parameters is derived.On this basis,by means of bistable system parameters self-adaptive adjustment,the counterintuitive stochastic resonance(SR)phenomenon can be easily generated at which the random noise is changed into a benefit to assist signal transmission.Finally,it is demonstrated that approximately 8dB bit error ratio(BER)performance improvement for the ABSR-based uncorrelated receiver when compared with the traditional uncorrelated receiver at low signal to noise ratio(SNR)conditions varying from-30dB to-5dB.展开更多

Beginning with preliminary background information, e.g. the source book and writer, the translator further introduces theories andprevious related research, including Christian work. There are two representatives of reception theory; the translator stresses Jauss' per-spective of reception aesthetics, detailing his two key notions: the reader's decisive role and horizon of expectation. These notions shiftthe focus from the writer and text to the reader, which is a proven method to make the translation more acceptable to readers. Based onthe translation brief, target readers are Christians. During the translation process, the translator keeps key notions of reception aestheticstop-of-mind and strives to produce a version suitable for Christian readers. Some strategies, e.g. domestication and footnoting, are em-ployed to discuss the translation of biblical terms, Christian expressions, verses or stories from the Bible, metaphors and cultural items.In addition to these strategies, all translation is in accordance with CUV when encountering Bible-related text, due to CUV's authorityamong all versions of the Bible. Numerical studies are conducted to simulate acoustic pressures, waveforms, and reconstructed images with unidirectional, omnidirectional, and strong directional transducers.With the analyses of equivalent and projection sources, the influences of the model dimension and the layer effect are qualitatively analyzed to evaluate the performance of MAT-MI. Three-dimensional simulation studies show that the strong directional transducer with a large radius can reduce the influences of equivalent sources, projection sources, and the layer effect effectively, resulting in enhanced pressure and improved image contrast, which is beneficial for boundary pressure extraction in conductivity reconstruction. The reconstructed conductivity contrast images present the conductivity boundaries as stripes with different contrasts and polarities, representing the values and directions of the conductivity changes of the scanned layer. The favorable results provide solid evidence for transducer selection and suggest potential practical applications of MAT-MI in biomedical imaging.展开更多

To provide a unified anatysis frame- work, the length of cooperative transmission epoch is fixed to the detected collision order. The mathematical analysis of potential throughput （PTP） and potential packet loss rate （PPLR） are given under a pessimistic assumption and an optimistic assumption. According to the analysis of PTP and PPLR, threshold selection is done to optimize system performances, e.g. the optimal threshold should guarantee PTP to be maximum or guarantee PPLR to be minimum. In simulations, the thresholds are selected according to PTP under the pessimistic assumption. Simulation results show that the proposed cooperative MPR scheme can achieve higher throughput than NDMA and slotted ALOHA schemes.展开更多

Lau's translation work is of high academic value and receives good comments popularly in western sinology circle, being considered as the exemplary work for translating Chinese classics into English. Zhao et al. translated Mencius for modern readers, who might have acquired more knowledge of China and want to learn something about Mencius. Therefore,the translation of movie title cannot be ignored. However,due to the cultural differences in Chinese and English culture,the problem of movie title translation is obvious which needs to be paid attention to the translation and people working in movie industry.Traditional translation theory puts more emphasis on the important and authoritative status of original text and author. But this notion cannot satisfy the needs of movie title translation to the largest extent. Movie is not only a cultural and linguistic product,it also is a special commercial product. The ultimate objective of movie is to allure the audience into the cinema to watch and appreciate it in addition to provide the cultural information. Reception aesthetics,as a theory of literary criticism,gives priority to readers' role in literary understanding and interpretation. According to reception aesthetics,the horizon of expectation should be taken into consideration when the translation work begins to be done. Horizon of expectation is composed of the readers' or audiences' previous cultural norms,assumptions,and criteria in the source language and culture at a given time. Movie title,as a special text,is also understood and influenced by the audience's horizon of expectation. Chinese audience,before they decide to watch a movie,are naturally harbor their horizon of expectation about the movie. They will form their judgment and assumptions about the genre,plot,story,background about the movie from the movie title. These kind of horizon of expectation will consequently influence their ultimate decision to watch the movie or not. Hence,in doing the movie title translation,the translator is supposed to keep the audience's horizon of expectation in mind and try his utmost to achieve the fusion of expectation. In this way,the comparatively satisfactory version is likely to come into being and finally will live up to the audience's expectations. As a result,from the perspective of reception aesthetics,the author proposes three feasible translation methods of movie title: literal translation,free translation and adaptation.展开更多

The ThreeBody Problem is popular among overseas readership thanks to its re ection on the ultimate existence of mankind, science ction vision & imagination, literary familiarity & identi cation, ideological di erence-triggered cultural curiosity, and a good translation. This paper attempts to interpret Liu Cixin's work on the map of world literature from the perspective of overseas readers' preferences to provide references for contemporary Chinese science ction creation and overseas reception.
文摘Movie is a popular art which occupies an important position in people's leisure time. Movie title,as the most direct and accessible tool for audience to know about the movie,is very significant to attract audience into the cinema. Therefore,the translation of movie title cannot be ignored. However,due to the cultural differences in Chinese and English culture,the problem of movie title translation is obvious which needs to be paid attention to the translation and people working in movie industry.Traditional translation theory puts more emphasis on the important and authoritative status of original text and author. But this notion cannot satisfy the needs of movie title translation to the largest extent. Movie is not only a cultural and linguistic product,it also is a special commercial product. The ultimate objective of movie is to allure the audience into the cinema to watch and appreciate it in addition to provide the cultural information. Reception aesthetics,as a theory of literary criticism,gives priority to readers' role in literary understanding and interpretation. According to reception aesthetics,the horizon of expectation should be taken into consideration when the translation work begins to be done. Horizon of expectation is composed of the readers' or audiences' previous cultural norms,assumptions,and criteria in the source language and culture at a given time. Movie title,as a special text,is also understood and influenced by the audience's horizon of expectation. Chinese audience,before they decide to watch a movie,are naturally harbor their horizon of expectation about the movie. They will form their judgment and assumptions about the genre,plot,story,background about the movie from the movie title. These kind of horizon of expectation will consequently influence their ultimate decision to watch the movie or not. Hence,in doing the movie title translation,the translator is supposed to keep the audience's horizon of expectation in mind and try his utmost to achieve the fusion of expectation. In this way,the comparatively satisfactory version is likely to come into being and finally will live up to the audience's expectations. As a result,from the perspective of reception aesthetics,the author proposes three feasible translation methods of movie title: literal translation,free translation and adaptation.

In translating poems, what is important is not only the transferring of the intended meaning of the source language into target language, but keeping its literariness, i.e. the style of the original text. Three English versions are selected to make a comparative study from the perspective of reception aesthetics in terms of lexicon, rhyme and syntax.

文摘As a kind of reader-centered paradigm of literary research, reception aesthetics studies the reception effects of the text,which is a shift of the focus of literary criticism from the relation between the author and the text to the relation between the text and the reader. Based on the enlightenment of reception aesthetics on literary translation, the translator — the reader of the original text as well as the author of the translated text — must take the reader's"horizon of expectations"into consideration during the process of translation, so as to reach the"fusion of horizons"to the largest extent.
