This technology has been used to realize the direct control of prosthetic devices, such as robot arms, computer cursors, and paralyzed muscles. A variety of neural decoding algorithms have been designed to explore relationships between neural activities and movements of the limbs. In this paper, two novel neural decoding methods based on probabilistic neural network (PNN) in rats were introduced, the PNN decoder and the modified PNN (MPNN) decoder. In the ex-periment,rats were trained to obtain water by pressing a lever over a pressure threshold. Microelectrode array was implanted in the motor cortex to record neural activity, and pressure was recorded by a pressure sensor synchronously. After training, the pressure values were estimated from the neural signals by PNN and MPNN decoders. Their per-formances were evaluated by a correlation coefficient (CC) and a mean square error (MSE). The results show that the MPNN decoder, with a CC of 0.8657 and an MSE of 0.2563,outperformed the traditionally-used Wiener filter (WF) and Kalman filter (KF) decoders. It was also observed that the discretization level did not affect the MPNN performance, indicating that the MPNN decoder can handle different tasks in BMI system, including the detection of movement states and estimation of continuous kinematic parameters.展开更多

And video technology plays an important role and is extensively applied for underwater environment observation. Different from the conventional methods, video technology explores the underwater ecosystem continuously and non-invasively. However, due to the scattering and attenuation of light transport in the water, complex noise distribution and lowlight condition cause challenges for underwater video applications including object detection and recognition. In this paper, we propose a new deep encoding-decoding convolutional architecture for underwater object recognition. It uses the deep encoding-decoding network for extracting the discriminative features from the noisy low-light underwater images. To create the deconvolutional layers for classification, we apply the deconvolution kernel with a matched feature map, instead of full connection, to solve the problem of dimension disaster and low accuracy. Moreover, we introduce data augmentation and transfer learning technologies to solve the problem of data starvation. For experiments, we investigated the public datasets with our proposed method and the state-of-the-art methods. The results show that our work achieves significant accuracy. This work provides new underwater technologies applied for ocean exploration.展开更多

The basic idea of SGCNNBP is using Neural Networks(NN) to transform the correlated noise into white noise, setting up the optimal condition for a standard BP decoder that takes the output from the NN. A gate-controlled neuron is used to regulate information flow and an optional operation—slicing is adopted to reduce parameters and lower training complexity. Simulation results show that SGCNN-BP has much better performance(with the largest gap being 5dB improvement) than a single BP decoder and achieves a nearly 1dB improvement compared to Fully Convolutional Networks(FCN).展开更多

The iterative gain in this method is always one. Therefore, this method does not need optimization of the iterative gain by using simulated annealing like the parallel decoding method. Though it is simpler than the parallel decoding method in calculation, it gives the same performance. We also use Pearl's propagation algorithm to show the appropriateness of the serial decoding method.展开更多

Fast simplified successive-cancellation decoding algorithm improves the situation in theoretically but not performs well as expected in practical for the workload of nodes identification and the existence of many short blocks. Meanwhile, Neural network (NN) based decoders have appeared as potential candidates to replace conventional decoders for polar codes. But the exponentially increasing training complexity with information bits is unacceptable which means it is only suitable for short codes. In this paper, we present an improvement that increases decoding efficiency without degrading the error-correction performance. The long polar codes are divided into several sub-blocks, some of which can be decoded adopting fast maximum likelihood decoding method and the remained parts are replaced by several short codes NN decoders. The result shows that time steps the proposed algorithm need only equal to 79.8% of fast simplified successive-cancellation decoders require. Moreover, it has up to 21.2 times faster than successive-cancellation decoding algorithm. More importantly, the proposed algorithm decreases the hardness when applying in some degree. </div>展开更多

In this paper, we compute the closed-form probability expressions of successful decoding at a sink and at all sinks in the multicast scenario, in which one source sends messages to k destinations through m relays using random linear network coding over a Galois field. The formulation at a (all) sink(s) represents the impact of major parameters, i.e., the size of field, the number of relays (and sinks) and provides theoretical groundings to numerical results in the literature. Such condition maps to the receivers' capability to decode the original information and its mathematical characterization is helpful to design the coding. In addition, numerical results show that, under a fixed exact decoding probability, the required field size can be minimized.展开更多

It was also observed that the discretization level did not affect the MPNN performance, indicating that the MPNN decoder can handle different tasks in BMI system, including the detection of movement states and estimation of continuous kinematic parameters.

文摘A network-coding-based multisource LDPC-coded cooperative MIMO scheme is proposed, where multiple sources transmit their messages to the destination with the assistance from a single relay. The relay cooperates with multiple sources simultaneously via network-coding.It avoids the issues of imperfect frequency/timing synchronization and large transmission delay which may be introduced by frequency-division multiple access(FDMA)/code-division multiple access(CDMA)and time-division multiple access(TDMA)manners. The proposed joint″Min-Sum″iterative decoding is effectively carried out in the destination.Such a decoding algorithm agrees with the introduced equivalent joint Tanner graph which can be used to fully characterize LDPC codes employed by the sources and relay.Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation show that the proposed scheme with joint iterative decoding can achieve significant cooperation diversity gain.Furthermore, for the relay, compared with the cascade scheme, the proposed scheme has much lower complexity of LDPC-encoding and is easier to be implemented in the hardware with similar bit error rate(BER)performance.

文摘Ocean underwater exploration is a part of oceanography that investigates the physical and biological conditions for scientific and commercial purposes. This work provides new underwater technologies applied for ocean exploration.

文摘This letter proposes a sliced-gated-convolutional neural network with belief propagation(SGCNN-BP) architecture for decoding long codes under correlated noise. Simulation results show that SGCNN-BP has much better performance(with the largest gap being 5dB improvement) than a single BP decoder and achieves a nearly 1dB improvement compared to Fully Convolutional Networks(FCN).
文摘The parallel decoding method of a parallel concatenation of multiple codes is well known. In this paper, we present a new serial decoding method. The iterative gain in this method is always one. Therefore, this method does not need optimization of the iterative gain by using simulated annealing like the parallel decoding method. Though it is simpler than the parallel decoding method in calculation, it gives the same performance. We also use Pearl's propagation algorithm to show the appropriateness of the serial decoding method.
文摘<div style="text-align:justify;"> Polar codes using successive-cancellation decoding always suffer from high latency for its serial nature. </div>
文摘Medical procedures are inherently invasive and carry the risk of inducing pain to the mind and body.Recently, efforts have been made to alleviate the discomfort associated with invasive medical procedures through the use of virtual reality(VR)technology.VR has been demonstrated to be an effective treatment for pain associated with medical procedures,as well as for chronic pain conditions for which no effective treatment has been established. The precise mechanism by which the diversion from reality facilitated by VR contributes to the diminution of pain and anxiety has yet to be elucidated. However, the provision of positive images through VR-based visual stimulation may enhance the functionality of brain networks. The salience network is diminished, while the default mode network is enhanced.Additionally, the medial prefrontal cortex may establish a stronger connection with the default mode network, which could result in a reduction of pain and anxiety.Further research into the potential of VR technology to alleviate pain could lead to a reduction in the number of individuals who overdose on painkillers and contribute to positive change in the medical field.

文摘Combinatorial networks are widely applied in many practical scenarios. In addition, numerical results show that, under a fixed exact decoding probability, the required field size can be minimized.

文摘Complex network models are frequently employed for simulating and studyingdiverse real-world complex systems.Among these models,scale-free networks typically exhibit greater fragility to malicious attacks.Consequently, enhancing the robustness of scale-free networks has become a pressing issue. To address this problem, this paper proposes a Multi-Granularity Integration Algorithm(MGIA),which aims to improve the robustness of scale-free networks while keeping the initial degree of each node unchanged, ensuring network connectivity and avoiding the generation of multiple edges. The algorithm generates a multi-granularity structure from the initial network to be optimized, then uses different optimization strategies to optimize the networks at various granular layers in this structure, and finally realizes the information exchange between different granular layers, thereby further enhancing the optimization effect. We propose new network refresh, crossover, and mutation operators to ensure that the optimized network satisfies the given constraints.Meanwhile,we propose new network similarity and network dissimilarity evaluation metrics to improve the effectiveness of the optimization operators in the algorithm. In the experiments, the MGIA enhances the robustness of the scale-free network by 67.6%.This improvement is approximately 17.2%higher than the optimization effects achieved by eight currently existing complex network robustness optimization algorithms.
文摘Satellite edge computing has garnered significant attention from researchers;however, processing a large volume of tasks within multi-node satellite networks still poses considerable challenges. The sharp increase in user demand for latency-sensitive tasks has inevitably led to offloading bottlenecks and insufficient computational capacity on individual satellite edge servers, making it necessary to implement effective task offloading scheduling to enhance user experience. In this paper,we propose a priority-based task scheduling strategy based on a Software-Defined Network(SDN)framework for satellite-terrestrial integrated networks, which clarifies the execution order of tasks based on their priority.Subsequently,we apply a Dueling-Double Deep Q-Network(DDQN)algorithm enhanced with prioritized experience replay to derive a computation offloading strategy, improving the experience replay mechanism within the Dueling-DDQN framework.Next,we utilize the Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient(DDPG)algorithm to determine the optimal resource allocation strategy to reduce the processing latency of sub-tasks.Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed d3-DDPG algorithm outperforms other approaches, effectively reducing task processing latency and thus improving user experience and system efficiency.
