To identify the cause of mass mortality of adult Macrobrachium rosenbergii in a farm in Gaoyou City,Jiangsu Province,China,a dominant strain named DKQ-1 was isolated from the hepatopancreas of dying M.rosenbergii and ...To identify the cause of mass mortality of adult Macrobrachium rosenbergii in a farm in Gaoyou City,Jiangsu Province,China,a dominant strain named DKQ-1 was isolated from the hepatopancreas of dying M.rosenbergii and identified as Aeromonas dhakensis by purification culture,biochemical characterization,and 16S rRNA and gyrB gene sequence analysis.The results of the challenge test revealed that the strain was highly pathogenic and the 50%lethal dose(LD_(50))in 72 h to M.rosenbergii was 1.54×10^(5)CFU/mL.The amplification results of virulence genes show that strain DKQ-1 carried 9 virulence genes,including ascV,aexT,aer,act,lip,ompAI,gcaT,acg,and exu,supporting the strong virulence of strain DKQ-1 to M.rosenbergii.Histopathological observation of the hepatopancreas,gills,and intestines indicated that DKQ-1 injection into M.rosenbergii could cause serious tissue damage,which further supported the strong virulence of this strain.In addition,a drug susceptibility test revealed that strain DKQ-1 was sensitive to 16 kinds of antibiotics,resistant to 9 kinds of antibiotics,and had intermediate resistance to spectinomycin and kanamycin.This study is the first report of A.dhakensis isolated from M.rosenbergii and provided a reference for the pathogen identification of bacterial diseases in M.rosenbergii,and for the prevention and treatment caused by A.dhakensis.展开更多
The East Zhejiang Canal is an artificial waterway located in the plains of East China.Because of its role in providing social services,it is frequently subjected to human activities affecting its health.To improve the...The East Zhejiang Canal is an artificial waterway located in the plains of East China.Because of its role in providing social services,it is frequently subjected to human activities affecting its health.To improve the water resource management and condition of this canal,assessment of its ecological health is necessary.We measured water quality variables and benthic diatom and macroinvertebrate assemblages to evaluate the ecological status of the canal.We found that the canal was eutrophic with an average chemical trophic level index of 64.3 and an average trophic diatom index of 68.1(with Nitzschia palea,Melosira varians,and Navicula rostellata,Encyonema minutum abundant).Macroinvertebrate assemblages also showed that the canal was eutrophic based on the dominance of Limnodrilus sp.A low BMWP(Biological Monitoring Working Party)score further indicated the poor water quality of the canal.Correlation analysis indicated that phosphorus was the main driver of eutrophication in the canal.Consequently,more attention should be paid to reduce phosphorus loadings.展开更多
Retinal imaging is pivotal in the evaluation of ocular and systemic health,presenting significant promise for extensive popula-tion studies.However,the lack of standardized and automated techniques for extracting Imag...Retinal imaging is pivotal in the evaluation of ocular and systemic health,presenting significant promise for extensive popula-tion studies.However,the lack of standardized and automated techniques for extracting Imaging-Derived Phenotypes(IDPs)from retinal images is a major impediment.To counteract this challenge,the Chinese Human Phenome Project(CHPP)has developed a comprehensive protocol that includes Quality Control(QC),preprocessing,and automated or semi-automated extraction of IDPs from fundus photography and Optical Coherence Tomography(OCT)images.This protocol incorporates Artificial Intelligence(AI)-based methods to achieve accurate and efficient IDP extraction,facilitating standardized analysis of large-scale populations.We hope that this Standard Operating Procedure(SOP)guideline will impart valuable insights for ophthalmology-related disciplines and provides support for future research endeavors utilizing retinal imaging data.展开更多
