Artemisia annua L.is a medicinal herb with multiple therapeutic applications,whereas its antiinfluenza A virus(IAV)efficiency and mechanism of action are still unclear.Here,we investigated the inhibition activity and ...Artemisia annua L.is a medicinal herb with multiple therapeutic applications,whereas its antiinfluenza A virus(IAV)efficiency and mechanism of action are still unclear.Here,we investigated the inhibition activity and mechanism of A.annua leaf methanol extracts(AALME)against IAV in vitro and in vivo.Our results revealed that AALME exhibits potent anti-IAV activity by interacting with IAV particles.Mechanistically,AALME directly targets the IAV nucleoprotein(NP)protein and abolishes the nuclear import of IAV NP.AALME profoundly suppresses IAV-induced mitochondrial apoptosis via suppressing ROS-mediated AIF-dependent pathways.More importantly,we found that AALME plays a crucial role in protecting mice from IAV infection and mitigating IAV pathogenicity.This current work provides mechanistic insight into the mechanism by which AALME controls IAV infection in vitro and in vivo,potentially contributing to the development of antiviral treatments for IAV infection.展开更多
High-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) infection plays an important role in the development of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer.A total of 11 549 women were enrolled from the Maternal and Child H...High-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) infection plays an important role in the development of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer.A total of 11 549 women were enrolled from the Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Hubei Province.Each participant accepted hrHPV testing and completed a self^administered questionnaire about basic information and potential risk factors.The univariable and multivariable logistic regression model was used to explore the associations between variants and hrHPV infection.Our results showed that hrHPV prevalence was 16.09% in Hubei Province,among which,hrHPV was more likely to be positive in women aged 51 years or above (OR=1.65,95% CI:1.28-2.14),and in women who had symptoms of bleeding after intercourse (OR=1.32,95% CI:1.17-1.50),had first sexual intercourse at the age of 18 years or below (OR=1.33,95% CI:1.07-1.64),had at least three male sexual partners (OR=2.50,95% CI:2.07-3.03),and who had been diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections (OR=1.50,95% CI:1.12-2.03).Married women (OR=0.66,95% CI:0.55-0.78) and women who frequently used condoms (OR=0.75,95% CI:0.67-0.84) had a relatively lower hrHPV prevalence.This study confirms that hrHPV infection was associated with age,marital status,symptoms of intercourse bleeding,history of sexually transmitted infections,and sex-related behaviors.Above all,this study provides a baseline database prior to obtaining vaccinations for dynamic tracking of the changes in hrHPV prevalence.展开更多
Over the past few years,nanomaterials toxicology has emerged as a new exciting field in which theoretical and experimental studies of toxicity of nanomaterials have become a focus,and the importance of carbon nanotube...Over the past few years,nanomaterials toxicology has emerged as a new exciting field in which theoretical and experimental studies of toxicity of nanomaterials have become a focus,and the importance of carbon nanotubes(CNTs),graphene oxide(GO),quantum dots(QDs),magnetic nanoparticles(MNPs),and amorphous silica nanoparticles(ASN)as special nanomaterials to the fundamental development in biomedical engineering has begun to be recognized.In particular,interaction between nanomaterials and nucleic acids,proteins or cells,animals,environment,etc.has become a new interdisciplinary frontier,there is an increasing need for a more systematic study of the basic issues involved in nanomaterials toxicity and potential toxicity-reducing methods,great advances have been and are being made in nanomaterials’biological effects and application in disease diagnosis and therapy.Here we review some of the main advances in this field over past few years,and discuss about the concepts,issues,approaches,and challenges,with the aim of stimulating a broader interest in studying the toxicological mechanism of nanomaterials and potential toxicity-eliminating measurement.展开更多
