Very recently, intensive discussions and studies on Industry 5.0 have sprung up and caused the attention of researchers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers from various sectors around the world. However, there is no consensus on why and what is Industry 5.0 yet.In this paper,we define Industry 5.0from its philosophical and historical origin and evolution, emphasize its new thinking on virtual-real duality and human-machine interaction, and introduce its new theory and technology based on parallel intelligence(PI),artificial societies, computational experiments, and parallel execution(the ACP method),and cyber-physical-social systems(CPSS).Case studies and applications of Industry 5.0 over the last decade have been briefly summarized and analyzed with suggestions for its future development. We believe that Industry 5.0 of virtual-real interactive parallel industries has great potentials and is critical for building smart societies.Steps are outlined to ensure a roadmap that would lead to a smooth transition from CPS-based Industry 4.0 to CPSS-based Industry 5.0 for a better world which is Safe in physical spaces,S ecure in cyberspaces,Sustainable in ecology,Sensitive in individual privacy and rights,Service for all,and Smartness of all. 展开更多

The rapid advancement of fundamental theories and computing capacity has brought artificial intelligence, internet of things, extended reality, and many other new intelligent technologies into our daily lives. Due to the lack of interpretability and reliability guarantees, it is extremely challenging to apply these technologies directly to real-world industrial systems. Here we present a new paradigm for establishing parallel factories in metaverses to accelerate the deployment of intelligent technologies in real-world industrial systems: QAII-1.0. Based on cyber-physical-social systems,QAII-1.0 incorporates complex social and human factors into the design and analysis of industrial operations and is capable of handling industrial operations involving complex social and human behaviors. In QAII-1.0, a field foundational model called Eu Artisan combined with scenarios engineering is developed to improve the intelligence of industrial systems while ensuring industrial interpretability and reliability. Finally, parallel oil fields in metaverses are established to demonstrate the operating procedure of QAII-1.0. 展开更多

Geological environments of rock mass projects are always very complicated, and further investigations on rock mechanical characteristics are needed. There are considerable distinctions in rock mechanical characteristics under unloading and loading conditions. A series of tests are conducted to study the stress-strain relationship of rock masses under loading and unloading conditions. Also, the anisotropy, the size effect, and the rheological property of unloading rock mass are investigated. The tests presented in the paper include model test and granite rheological test, which are conducted considering geological condition, rock mass structure, in-situ stress field of the permanent shiplock of the Three Gorges Project. The main differences between loading and unloading rock masses are stress paths, yield criteria, deformation and strength parameters, etc.. Different structural plane directions affect unloading rock mass evidently. With increasing size, the tensile strength, the compressive strength, the deformation modulus, the Poisson’s ratio and the anisotropy of rock mass all decrease. For sandstone samples with parallel bedding planes, the cohesion c increases but the internal friction angle ? decreases under unloading condition when compared with the values under loading condition. While for samples with vertical bedding planes, the trend is adverse. The rheological property of rocks has close relationship with the tensile stresses of rock masses. When the sandstone samples are tested under high stress condition, their rheological properties are very obvious with the unloading of confining pressure, and three typical rheological stages are shown. Rheological rate changes with the variations in axial stress and confining pressure. 展开更多

Amyloid-beta-induced neuronal cell death contributes to cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s disease.Citri Reticulatae Semen has diverse beneficial effects on neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson’s and Huntington’s diseases, however, the effect of Citri Reticulatae Semen on Alzheimer’s disease remains unelucidated. In the current study, the anti-apoptotic and autophagic roles of Citri Reticulatae Semen extract on amyloid-beta-induced apoptosis in PC12 cells were first investigated.Citri Reticulatae Semen extract protected PC12 cells from amyloid-beta-induced apoptosis by attenuating the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio via activation of autophagy. In addition,Citri Reticulatae Semen extract was confirmed to bind amyloid-beta as revealed by biolayer interferometry in vitro, and suppress amyloid-beta-induced pathology such as paralysis,in a transgenic Caenorhabditis elegans in vivo model. Moreover, genetically defective Caenorhabditis elegans further confirmed that the neuroprotective effect of Citri Reticulatae Semen extract was autophagy-dependent.Most importantly,Citri Reticulatae Semen extract was confirmed to improve cognitive impairment, neuronal injury and amyloid-beta burden in 3×Tg Alzheimer’s disease mice.As revealed by both in vitro and in vivo models, these results suggest that Citri Reticulatae Semen extract is a potential natural therapeutic agent for Alzheimer’s disease via its neuroprotective autophagic effects. 展开更多

Objective: To reduce the blood pressure and elevate intracranial pressure using nimodipine (Nimotop Intravenous (IV) infusion). Thus, intracerebral hemorrhage was controlled, and the purpose of hemostasis was achieved. Methods: Sixty-eight patients with intracerebral hemorrhage were divided into a treatment group (n = 51), and a control group (n = 35). Nimotop solution (10 mg) was administered as a fast-flowing IV infusion in the treatment group, and 250 ml 20% mannitol infusion was given to patients in the control group twice every day. Patients in both groups received treatment for seven days, and the blood pressure on the treatment day was measured. A brain Computed Tomography (CT) scan was performed as a reexamination within two weeks. Results: The blood pressure in the treatment group was decreased from 179/104 to 151/91 mmHg, averagely, and in the control group was decreased from 181/108 to 180/103 mmHg, averagely. The difference between these two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.01). Hematoma enlargement occurred in 20 patients (53.3%) in the treatment group, and four patients in the control group (8.57%). The difference between both groups was statistically significant (P < 0.01). There were eight deaths in the treatment group. Seven deaths were caused by cerebral hernia, and one was caused by complications. There was one death in the control group caused by lung infection and gastrointestinal bleeding. Conclusion: Nimodipine can dilate the arteries, reduce blood pressure, and elevate intracranial pressure, lowering pressure gradients across vessel wall which destroy the vessel wall. Also, nimodipine can prevent hemorrhage as well as recurrent hemorrhage, and can used as the first choice of rescue drug. What’s more, dehydration drugs such as mannitol should not be used in the early stage of intracerebral hemorrhage in order to prevent hematoma enlargement. 展开更多
