AIM:To describe ocular biometric parameters among Han and Uyghur myopic adults in Xinjiang,China.METHODS:A cross-sectional study was conducted.The different ocular biometric parameters collected using Pentacam were an...AIM:To describe ocular biometric parameters among Han and Uyghur myopic adults in Xinjiang,China.METHODS:A cross-sectional study was conducted.The different ocular biometric parameters collected using Pentacam were analyzed,including corneal curvature,corneal astigmatism(CA),horizontal corneal diameter(white-to-white,WTW),corneal volume(CV),pupil diameter(PD),anterior chamber angle(ACA),anterior chamber depth(ACD),anterior chamber volume(ACV)and axial length(AL).RESULTS:In total,2932 participants were included in the final analysis,comprising 2310 Han and 622 Uyghur adults.Adults in the high myopia(HM)group had steeper K2,larger CA,smaller WTW and longer AL in both the Uyghur and Han adults(all P<0.05).The moderate myopia(MM)and HM group had deeper ACV,ACD and wider ACA than the low myopia(all P<0.05)in Han adults,however there were no differences in anterior chamber indices with Uyghur adults.In the Uyghur adults,we noticed that CV,WTW,and ACD were smaller,ACA was narrower,PD was larger,and AL was shorter(all P<0.05).We also noticed sex differences:males had flatter corneas,deeper ACD and ACV,and larger WTW than females(all P<0.05).In the correlation analysis,WTW was positively correlated with ACD and ACV but negatively correlated with K1,K2 and CV(all P<0.05).Narrower ACA was associated with larger PD(rU=-0.25,rH=-0.16,all P<0.01).CONCLUSION:The Han population have different biometric parameters in eyes with HM compared to the Uyghur population,and the Uyghur population may anatomically more susceptible to primary angle closure glaucoma than the Han population.展开更多
Background:Acupuncture has been proven to improve the pregnancy rate in infertile women.Endometriosis is a common cause of infertility.So far,there are no studies of the efficacy of acupuncture on endometriosis-associ...Background:Acupuncture has been proven to improve the pregnancy rate in infertile women.Endometriosis is a common cause of infertility.So far,there are no studies of the efficacy of acupuncture on endometriosis-associated infertility(EAI).Therefore,we will conduct a randomized controlled trial(RCT)to investigate whether acupuncture could have higher pregnancy rates in patients with EAI compared with sham acupuncture.The study protocol is reported in this paper.Methods/design:The current trial is a multicenter randomized controlled study undergoing in Shanghai,China.About 224 eligible patients with EAI will be randomly assigned into the acupuncture group and the sham acupuncture group in a 1:1 ratio.In the acupuncture group,patients will be treated with acupuncture on Guanyuan(CV4),Zhongji(CV3),Zigong(EX-CA1),Xuehai(SP10),Zusanli(ST36),Sanyinjiao(SP6),and Taichong(LR3),twice a week,for 3 menstrual cycles,and 12 menstrual cycles will be followed up.The Park sham device will be used to perform non-transdermal acupuncture in the sham acupuncture group.The operation points will be located at 1.5 cm away beside these acupoints in the acupuncture group.The intervention period is the same as that in the acupuncture group.The primary outcome will be pregnancy rate.Secondary outcomes will include ultrasound results,cancer antigen 125(CA125),antiMullerian hormone(AMH),sex hormones,and the Endometriosis Health Profile-5(EHP-5).Outcomes will be collected at baseline,the end of treatment,and follow-up visits at 3,6,and 12 menstrual cycles.All data,including major adverse events,will be recorded in electronic case report forms and analyzed using SPSS V.25.0.Discussion:This study will help to evaluate whether acupuncture is effective in increasing the pregnancy rate of infertile women with endometriosis.展开更多
Backgroud:Danggui Buxue decoction(DBD),a classical prescription in traditional Chinese medicine,has been found to have protective effect on bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats by reducing alveolar inflammatio...Backgroud:Danggui Buxue decoction(DBD),a classical prescription in traditional Chinese medicine,has been found to have protective effect on bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats by reducing alveolar inflammation and fibrosis.However,the biological activity of individual chemical components and mechanism of action of whole formula are not clear.Methods:Potential targets of active ingredients of DBD were collected through Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform and SymMap database.Target genes related to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis were obtained from the Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man database,Therapeutic Targets Database and Gkb database.Then,the common targets were obtained by overlapping the potential targets of active ingredients in DBD and diseases related targets.The selected targets were subjected to Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes signaling pathway and Gene Ontology analysis,and the network map of active component-target-pathway was established using Cytoscape 3.7.1 software.The active components of DBD with most targets were selected for fibrosis-related marker verification.The mRNA and protein expression of fibrosis markers,α-smooth muscle actin,collagen 1 and fibronectin,were detected in TGF-β1-induced fibroblast cell line after treatment with the active components.Results:The 14 active ingredients,such as quercetin and kaempferol,were screened from DBD.It acts on 26 targets like estrogen receptor 2 and prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2,and mainly involves 38 signaling pathways such as cell inflammation and autophagy.Kaempferol and quercetin are the two compounds with the highest network regulation,which can inhibit the transformation of fibroblasts into myofibroblasts and reduce the expression of fibrosis markersα-smooth muscle actin,collagen 1 and fibronectin.Conclusion:The integration mode of multi-component,multi-target,multi-channel and mechanism of DBD in the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis are predicted by means of network pharmacology.Our study could indicate the direction of further anti-fibrotic mechanism research.展开更多
Traditional Chinese medicine Buyi Ganshen therapy combined with dopa preparation in the therapy of Parkinson’s disease could enhance the clinical safety and efficacy compared with dopa preparation along.The exact mec...Traditional Chinese medicine Buyi Ganshen therapy combined with dopa preparation in the therapy of Parkinson’s disease could enhance the clinical safety and efficacy compared with dopa preparation along.The exact mechanism of how Buyi Ganshen works combined with dopa preparation still unknown and the enrolled articles quality was relatively inadequate,yet it could provide the reference in the clinical application and further studies.Background:To research the influence of“Buyi Ganshen”,a traditional Chinese medicine that commonly used in“Tonifying the Liver and the Kidney”,added dopa preparation for the therapy of Parkinson’s disease.Methods:This meta-analysis examined existing literature by searching 7 electronic databases(CNKI,WanFang,EMBASE,PubMed,Medline,the Cochrane Library,and the VIP database)from inception to December 2019.Randomized controlled trials evaluating the influence of“Buyi Ganshen”combined with dopa preparation for Parkinson’s disease were identified.The main results were clinical efficacy,UPDRS I(mental score),total unified Parkinson’s disease ratingscale score,UPDRS III(motor score),UPDRS II(activities of daily life),and UPDRS IV(complications of treatment).The subordinate results were the SPOCA-AUT scores,traditional Chinese medicine syndromes and other adverse reactions.The Review Manager 5.3 software was used to calculate the pooled estimate effect.The outcomes were showed as relative ratio with 95%confidence interval.The fixed or random model was elected based on the level of homogeneity among researches.The I2 was used to detected heterogeneity.The quality of the researches was also assessed.Results:The meta-analysis include 2,241 individuals from a total of 30 studies.These data suggested that the therapy of Parkinson’s disease with the combination of“Buyi Ganshen”and dopa preparation were more effective compared to dopa preparation alone.Conclusion:“Buyi Ganshen”combined with dopa preparation exists,in some degree,to enhance clinical safety and effectiveness in the cure of Parkinson’s disease,compared with dopa preparation along.As most of the studies included were with low quality,this conclusion must be considered with caution.Thus,more multi-center,high-quality,prospective randomized controlled trials with large enough sample sizes are required to further illuminate the influence of“Buyi Ganshen”combined with dopa preparation for Parkinson’s disease.展开更多
