BACKGROUND Gallbladder cancer(GBC)is the most common and aggressive subtype of biliary tract cancer(BTC)and has a poor prognosis.A newly developed regimen of gemcitabine,cisplatin,and durvalumab shows promise for the ...BACKGROUND Gallbladder cancer(GBC)is the most common and aggressive subtype of biliary tract cancer(BTC)and has a poor prognosis.A newly developed regimen of gemcitabine,cisplatin,and durvalumab shows promise for the treatment of advanced BTC.However,the efficacy of this treatment for GBC remains unclear.CASE SUMMARY In this report,we present a case in which the triple-drug regimen exhibited marked effectiveness in treating locally advanced GBC,thus leading to a long-term survival benefit.A 68-year-old man was diagnosed with locally advanced GBC,which rendered him ineligible for curative surgery.Following three cycles of therapy,a partial response was observed.After one year of combined therapy,a clinical complete response was successfully achieved.Subsequent maintenance therapy with durvalumab monotherapy resulted in a disease-free survival of 9 months for the patient.The patient experienced tolerable toxicities of reversible grade 2 nausea and fatigue.Tolerable adverse events were observed in the patient throughout the entirety of the treatment.CONCLUSION The combination of gemcitabine and cisplatin chemotherapy with durvalumab was proven to be an effective treatment approach for advanced GBC,with manageable adverse events.Further research is warranted to substantiate the effectiveness of the combined regimen in the context of GBC.展开更多
The biomedical co-continuous(β-TCP+MgO)/Zn-Mg composite was fabricated by infiltrating Zn-Mg alloy into porousβ-TCP+MgO using suction exsorption technique.The microstructure,mechanical properties and corrosion behav...The biomedical co-continuous(β-TCP+MgO)/Zn-Mg composite was fabricated by infiltrating Zn-Mg alloy into porousβ-TCP+MgO using suction exsorption technique.The microstructure,mechanical properties and corrosion behaviors of the composite were evaluated by means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),mechanical testing,electrochemical and immersion test.It was found that the molten Zn-Mg alloy had infiltrated not only into the pores but also into the struts of the porousβ-TCP+MgO scaffold to form a compact composite.The Zn-Mg alloy contacted to theβ-TCP+MgO scaffold closely,and no reaction layer can be found between the alloy and the scaffold.The compressive strength of the composite was as high as244MPa,which was about1000times higher than that of the original porousβ-TCP+MgO scaffold and2/3of the strength of the Zn-Mg bulk alloy.The electrochemical and immersion tests in simulated body fluid(SBF)solution indicated that the corrosion resistance of the composite was better than that of the Zn-Mg bulk alloy.The corrosion products on the composite surface were mainly Zn(OH)2.Appropriate mechanical and corrosion properties indicated that the(β-TCP+MgO)/Zn?Mg composite fabricated by suction exsorption would be a very promising candidate for bone substitute.展开更多
BACKGROUND Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis(EGPA),formerly known as Churg-Strauss syndrome,is a rare form of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodyassociated vasculitis characterized by asthma,vasculitis,an...BACKGROUND Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis(EGPA),formerly known as Churg-Strauss syndrome,is a rare form of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodyassociated vasculitis characterized by asthma,vasculitis,and eosinophilia.CASE SUMMARY We report an atypical case of EGPA in a 20-year-old female patient.Unlike previously reported cases of EGPA,this patient’s initial symptom was asthma associated with a respiratory infection.This was followed by Loeffler endocarditis and cardiac insufficiency.She received treatment with methylprednisolone sodium succinate,low molecular weight heparin,recombinant human brain natriuretic peptide,furosemide,cefoperazone sodium/sulbactam sodium,and acyclovir.Despite prophylactic anticoagulation,she developed a large right ventricular thrombus.EGPA diagnosis was confirmed based on ancillary test results and specialty consultations.Subsequent treatment included mycophenolate mofetil.Her overall condition improved significantly after treatment,as evidenced by decreased peripheral blood eosinophils and cardiac markers.She was discharged after 17 d.Her most recent follow-up showed normal peripheral blood eosinophil levels,restored cardiac function,and a reduced cardiac mural thrombus size.CONCLUSION This case illustrates the swift progression of EGPA and underscores the significance of early detection and immediate intervention to ensure a favorable prognosis.展开更多
Electronic skin(e-skin),capable of perceiving various external stimuli,has emerged as a ubiquitous technology in the field of flexible electronics,finding diverse applications in healthcare systems,prosthetics,and sof...Electronic skin(e-skin),capable of perceiving various external stimuli,has emerged as a ubiquitous technology in the field of flexible electronics,finding diverse applications in healthcare systems,prosthetics,and soft robotics.Particularly,anisotropic e-skins have garnered extensive research attention due to their unique directional properties.Nevertheless,the continuous interference from diverse stimuli and intricate environments,along with low sensitivity,have hindered the further widespread application of anisotropic e-skin.Here,we present a transparent e-skin exhibiting remarkable anisotropic strain sensing performance,along with exceptional resilience against interference from other stimuli and harsh environments.Benefiting from the synergistic coexistence of aligned silver nanowires wrinkles and cracks,the e-skin achieves outstanding anisotropy showcasing maximum strain gauge factors(GFs)difference of 2825 and 0.69 along two perpendicular directions,exceeding a difference of more than 4000 times.Furthermore,the e-skin displays superior anti-interference capability,evidenced by a resistance change of less than 6%when subjected to high pressure(663 kPa),torsion(540°),or bending(180°),and exhibits negligible performance degradation even after exposure to harsh environments.Finally,our e-skin is successfully applied to undisturbed predicting crack propagation and precise control of dual-mode soft robots,highlighting its immense potential in structural damage warning and intelligent robotics.展开更多
Electronic devices capable of perceiving and responding to environmental changes are essential for applications in human-machine interaction,monitoring systems,and robotics.However,most existing devices struggle with ...Electronic devices capable of perceiving and responding to environmental changes are essential for applications in human-machine interaction,monitoring systems,and robotics.However,most existing devices struggle with the separation of sensing and actuation,resulting in complex integration and limited responsiveness.Here,inspired by the interplay between sensory and muscle cells in sea anemones,we present an intelligent thermoelectric device that seamlessly combines multimodal sensing with autonomous thermal actuation,achieving a closed-loop sensory-motor reflex.The device exhibits excellent temperature sensitivity(0.2℃)and pressure resolution(0.03 mm),attributable to its threedimensional(3D)architecture and hierarchical conductive network.Molecular dynamics simulations reveal that a dynamic hydrogen-bonding network enhances stress dissipation and interfacial adhesion,ensuring exceptional mechanical stability over 140,000 cycles.Notably,it also features thermal self-adaptation,actively triggering a protection mechanism to avoid high-temperature stimuli via thermoresponsive deformation,with an adjustable actuation threshold.This work advances intelligent electronics with real-time decision-making and environmental interaction.展开更多
Objective: The objective of the study is to investigate the effect of Kangfuxin lotion as adjunctive therapy for treating ulcerative colitis(UC) through a systematic review and meta?analysis of randomized controlled ...Objective: The objective of the study is to investigate the effect of Kangfuxin lotion as adjunctive therapy for treating ulcerative colitis(UC) through a systematic review and meta?analysis of randomized controlled trials(RCTs). Materials and Methods: RCTs comparing Kangfuxin lotion with no treatment, placebo, western medications or combination therapy for treatment of UC were included in this study. Two English and three Chinese electronic databases were searched. All searches ended in December 2017. Data and quality assessment carried out respectively. Rev Man 5.2 software(Copenhagen, The Nordic Cochrane Centre, The Cochrane Collaboration, 2014) was used to analyze with effect estimate presented as mean difference(MD), risk ratio(RR) and 95% confidence interval(CI). Results: Fifteen trials with 1050 participants were included in this review. Overall, 13 trials were eligible for meta?analysis. Kangfuxin lotion combined with Mesalazine was better than Mesalazine on clinical cure rate(RR 1.45, 95% CI 1.24–1.70, 7 trials), recurrence rate of UC(RR 0.22, 95% CI 0.07–0.72, 2 trials), or endoscopic mucosal recovery(RR 8.05, 95% CI 2.64–24.57, 2 trials). And Kangfuxin lotion combined with triple live bacteria tablets(Bifidobacterium-Lactobacillus? Streptococcus thermophilus)was superior with regard to symptoms remission rate(RR 5.36, 95% CI 1.73–16.60, 3 trials), endoscopic disease activity score(MD-2.30, 95% CI-2.64–-1.96, 1 trial). There were no reports on the serious adverse events of Kangfuxin lotion. Conclusion: Kangfuxin lotion as adjunctive treatment appears more effective than medications alone on clinical cure rate, recurrence rate, endoscopic mucosal recovery and improvement rate of related symptoms.展开更多
