This integrative review is to identify the factors associated with balance function in patients with knee osteoarthritis and explore the relationship between these factors and balance function.Osteoarthritis commonly occurs in elderly people.Patients with knee osteoarthritis have balance impairment, and maintaining knee stability is important for such patients to prevent accidental injuries caused by falling. Therefore,it is important to clarify the factors related to balance function in patients with knee osteo-arthritis.The PubMed,Science Direct,CINAHL,Ovid,ProQuest,CNKI,WanFang databases were searched, and relevant articles published up to December 2015 were included.Twenty articles were included in the analysis.Age,gender, dominant limb, foot length, knee alignment, diurnal variation, and meniscus tears were the non-modifiable factors, whereas body mass index, knee pain, muscle strength, joint range of motion, severity, and cognitive loading were the modifiable factors.Knee sleeve and custom-molded insoles showed protective effects against knee osteoarthritis. 展开更多

Forest canopy in a deciduous forest has significant sheltering effects on the sub-canopy solar radiation, significantly influencing the energy balance of snow and permafrost beneath the forest and their spatial distribution. This study employs a digital camera mounted with a fisheye lens to acquire photographs at various times in a growth cycle of the forest canopy at three selected sites in a deciduous forest near the Greater Khingan Mountains Forest Ecological Station,Northeast China. The vegetation types and conditions at the selected sites include P1 in Ledum-Claopodium-L.dahurica,P2 in Carex tato-L.dahurica,and P3 in Betula fruticosa-L.dahurica.After necessary image processing, these photographs were used to identify the canopy structure and its impacts on the sub-canopy solar radiation. Results show that fisheye photographs can successfully capture the forest canopy structure and are useful in estimating the sub-canopy solar radiation. The order of sheltering effects from the largest to the smallest on sub-canopy solar radiation at three selected sites is P3,P1,and P2,highly depending on the canopy density. Then sub-canopy solar radiation was calculated using fisheye photographs and an algorithm validated by in-situ observed solar radiation beneath the canopy at P1 and P3.The results are reasonable, although the accuracy seems compromised due to the mismatch of conditions for calculation and observation. Results also show that the mean annual solar radiation above the canopy was about 148.3 W/m2 in 2018,and the mean annual solar radiation values beneath the canopy were about 90.0,123.8,and 61.0 W/m2 at P1,P2,and P3,with only 60%,84%,and 42%of the total solar radiation penetrating through the canopy, respectively.Even in winter, when the trees are leafless, the canopy sheltering effects cannot be ignored in dense forests.Despite the limitations, fisheye photographs and related algorithms are useful in investigating the forest canopy structure and its impacts on sub-canopy solar radiation. 展开更多

Cucurbitacin IIa is a triterpenoid isolated exclusively from Hemsleya plants and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that functions as the main ingredient of prescription Hemslecin capsules and tablets in China.Synthetic biology provides new strategies for production of such valuable cucurbitacins at a large scale;however, the biosynthetic pathway of cucurbitacin IIa has been unknown, and the heterologous production of cucurbitacins in galactose medium has been expensive and low yielding. In this study,we characterized the functions of genes encoding two squalene epoxidases(HcSE1-2),six oxidosqualene cyclases(HcOSC1-6),two CYP450s(HcCYP87D20 and HcCYP81Q59),and an acyltransferase(HcAT1)in cucurbitacin IIa biosynthesis by heterologous expression in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Nicotiana benthamiana. We achieved high-level production of the key cucurbitacin precursor 11-carbonyl-20b-hydroxy-Cuol from glucose in yeast via modular engineering of the mevalonate pathway and optimization of P450 expression levels. The resulting yields of 46.41 mg/l 11-carbonyl-20b-hydroxy-Cuol and 126.47 mg/l total cucurbitacin triterpenoids in shake flasks are the highest yields yet reported from engineered microbes.Subsequently, production of 11-carbonyl-20b-hydroxy-Cuol by transient gene expression in tobacco resulted in yields of 1.28 mg/g dry weight in leaves. This work reveals the key genes involved in biosynthesis of prescription cucurbitacin IIa and demonstrates that engineered yeast cultivated with glucose can produce high yields of key triterpenoid intermediates. We describe a low-cost and highly efficient platform for rapid screening of candidate genes and high-yield production of pharmacological triterpenoids. 展开更多

First total synthesis of the proposed structures ofβ-indoloquinazoline alkaloids orisuaveolines A and B is re-ported.The key steps of the synthesis included a Pictet-Spengler reaction to build a six-member lactam which fur-ther transformed into target molecular by a one-pot condensation. This synthesis provided an access to the proposed structures of orisuaveolines A and B in a short and convenient manner from inexpensive, commercially available starting materials. The structures of our synthesized products were confirmed by 2D-NMR experiments. 展开更多
