The mul...An initial investigation on the roughness and frictional properties of the self-assembled thin films from polyelectrolytes is presented. Star-shaped C-60-Poly(styrene-maleic anhydride) was successful prepared. The multilayer thin films have been fabricated on mica with diazoresin as the cationic polyelectrolyte and hydrolyzed star-shaped C-60-poly(styrene-maleic anhydride) as the anionic polyelectrolyte via self-assembly technique. The crosslinking structure of the films is formed from the conversion of ionic bond to covalent bond after UV irradiation. AFM/FFM investigations provide insights into the roughness and frictional properties on a microscale. The roughness depends strongly on the number of film layers in the case of C-60-containing films. The frictional forces of the films exhibited a well behaved non-linear relationship in response to the change of applied load. It supports the prediction of enhanced load-bearing property Of C60-containing thin films.展开更多

This study sought a method for identifying five diterpenoids (Euphorbia factors LI-L3, L7a, and Ls) with the spectra of UV and mass, quantifying three diterpenoids L1, L2, and L8 in crude extracts of unprocessed and processed E. lathyris seeds by liquid chromatography/ electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS). The analysis was achieved on an Agilent Eclipse XDB-C18 column (4.6 mm× 150mm i.d., 5 μm) with an isocratic elution with a mobile phase consisting of water and acetonitrile at a flow rate of 0.25 mL/min at column temperature of 30 ℃ and UV detection was set at 272 nm. An ESI source was used with a positive ionization mode. The calibration curve was linear in the ranges of 9.9-79 μg/mL for Euphorbia factor Lb 3.8-30.5μg/mL for Euphorbia factor L2, and 1.0-20.6 μg/mL for Euphorbia factor LB. The average recoveries (n=6) of three diterpenoids were 98.39%, 91.10% and 96.94%, respectively, with RSD of 2.5%, 2.4% and 2.1%, respectively. The contents of the three diterpenoids in processed E. lathyris seeds were 3.435, 1.367 and 0.286 mg/g, respectively, which decreased more sharply than those in unprocessed E. lathyris seeds which were 4.915, 1.944 and 0.425 mg/g, respectively. The method is simple, accurate, reliable and reproducible, and it can be applied to control the quality of unprocessed and processed E. lathyris seeds.展开更多

Objective:To explore the mechanism of acupuncture intervention on anti-neuronal apoptosis in heroindependent rats based on the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.Methods:A total of 30 SD rats were randomly divided into a norm...Objective:To explore the mechanism of acupuncture intervention on anti-neuronal apoptosis in heroindependent rats based on the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.Methods:A total of 30 SD rats were randomly divided into a normal group,a model group and an acupuncture group,10 rats in each one.In the model group and the acupuncture group,the heroin relapse rat model was established by intramuscular incremental injection of heroin.In the model group,no any intervention was applied.In the acupuncture group,after modeling,acupuncture was applied at"Bǎihuì(百会GV20)"and"Dàzhuī(大椎GV14)".Transmission electron microscope(TEM)was adopted to observe neuronal apoptosis in the rats.The effect of acupuncture on anti-neuronal apoptosis was compared.Using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)and western blot methods,the mRNA and protein expressions of PI3 K and AKT were detected in ventral tegmental area(VTA).Results:It was found that edema was presented in VTA neuronal cytoplasm and organelles basically disappeared in the heroin relapse rats,nuclear chromatin aggregation,condensation and increased neuronal apoptosis were presented as well.After acupuncture at"Bǎihuì(百会GV20)"and"Dàzhuī(大椎GV14)",a small amount of mitochondria,rough endoiplasmic reticulum and glycogen granules were visible in the cytoplasm of VTA neurons.The nuclear membrane structure was clear and the chromatin in the nucleus was basically normal.The fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction(PCR)and western blot methods were adopted to detect mRNA and protein expressions of PI3K and AKT.It was found that the mRNA and protein expressions of PI3K and AKT in the brain of the rats in the model group were lower than those in the normal group(all P<0.05).Compared with the model group,the mRNA and protein expressions of PI3K and AKT in the acupuncture group were increased(all P<0.05),tending to the levels as the normal group.Conclusion:The effect of acupuncture on anti-brain cell apoptosis in heroin relapse rats may be related to the inhibition of PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.展开更多

We aimed to evaluate the clinical experience of treating inter...Background: There are only very few reports on clinical outcomes using multi-channel applicators (MCA) for patients with endometrial cancer (EC) in China. We aimed to evaluate the clinical experience of treating intermediate-risk (IR) to high-risk (HR) stage I EC using in-house made multi-channel applicators (IH-MCA) in a single institution. Methods: Three hundred and ninety patients with stage I IR to HR EC were treated with hysterectomy and adjuvant radiotherapy from 2003 to 2015. All patients received post-operative vaginal cuff brachytherapy (VBT) alone or as a boost after external beam radiotherapy (EBRT). The prescriptions were 500 cGy per fraction for a total of 5 to 6 fractions with brachytherapy alone or 400 to 600 cGy per fraction for 2 to 3 fractions if it was combined with EBRT. Two types of applicators including a traditional rigid IH-MCA and a recent model custom-made with 3 dimension printing technology were used for treatment. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to calculate survival rate. Results: Follow-up rate was 92.8% and the median follow-up time was 48 months (range 4–172 months). The 5-year overall survival (OS), progression-free survival, local recurrence, and distant metastasis rates for all patients were 96.3%, 92.1%, 2.9%, and 4.8% respectively. Two patients had isolated relapse in vagina outside the irradiated volume. The univariate and multivariate analysis showed that age and grade were the prognostic factors correlated with OS (hazard ratio: 0.368, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.131–1.035, P = 0.048;hazard ratio: 0.576, 95% CI: 0.347–0.958, P = 0.026,). Conclusions: For patients with IR to HR stage I EC, adjuvant VBT alone or in combination with EBRT using IH-MCA led to excellent survival and recurrence rates.
