Ground source heat pump systems demonstrate significant potential for northern rural heating applications;however, the effectiveness of these systems is often limited by challenging geological conditions. For instance,in certain regions, the installation of buried pipes for heat exchangers may be complicated, and these pipes may not always serve as efficient low-temperature heat sources for the heat pumps of the system. To address this issue, the current study explored the use of solar-energy-collecting equipment to supplement buried pipes. In this design, both solar energy and geothermal energy provide low-temperature heat to the heat pump.First,a simulation model of a solar‒ground source heat pump coupling system was established using TRNSYS.The accuracy of this model was validated through experiments and simulations on various system configurations, including varying numbers of buried pipes, different areas of solar collectors, and varying volumes of water tanks. The simulations examined the coupling characteristics of these components and their influence on system performance. The results revealed that the operating parameters of the system remained consistent across the following configurations:three buried pipes, burial depth of 20 m,collector area of 6 m^(2),and water tank volume of 0.5 m^(3);four buried pipes, burial depth of 20 m,collector area of 3 m^(2),and water tank volume of 0.5 m^(3);and five buried pipes with a burial depth of 20 m.Furthermore, the heat collection capacity of the solar collectors spanning an area of 3 m^(2)was found to be equivalent to that of one buried pipe. Moreover, the findings revealed that the solar‒ground source heat pump coupling system demonstrated a lower annual cumulative energy consumption compared to the ground source heat pump system, presenting a reduction of 5.31%compared to the energy consumption of the latter. 展开更多

The angular dependence of magnetoresistance(MR)in antiferromagnetic half-Heusler HoAuSn single crystals has been systematically studied.Negative MR,as large as~99%,is observed at 9 T,is not restricted to the specific configuration of applied magnetics fields and current and can persist up to 20 K,much higher than the Ne'el temperature(T_(N)≈1.9 K).Experiments and first-principles calculations suggest that the observed large negative MR is derived from a magnetic field that reconstructs the band structure and induces a Weyl point, which changes the carrier concentration. 展开更多

Hepatocarcinogenesis in human chronic liver diseases is a multi-step process in which hepatic precancerous lesions progress into early hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and progressed HCC, and the close surveillance and treatment of these lesions will help improve the survival rates of patients with HCC. The rapid development and extensive application of imaging technology have facilitated the discovery of nodular lesions of ambiguous significance, such as dysplastic nodules. Further investigations showed that these nodules may be hepatic precancerous lesions, and they often appear in patients with liver cirrhosis. Although the morphology of these nodules is not sufficient to support a diagnosis of malignant tumor, these nodules are closely correlated with the occurrence of HCC, as indicated by long-term follow-up studies. In recent years, the rapid development and wide application of pathology, molecular genetics and imaging technology have elucidated the characteristics of precancerous lesions. Based on our extensive review of the relevant literature, this article focuses on evidence indicating that high-grade dysplastic nodules are more likely to transform into HCC than low-grade dysplastic nodules based on clinical, pathological, molecular genetic and radiological assessments. In addition, evidence supporting the precancerous nature of large cell change in hepatitis B virus-related HCC is discussed. 展开更多

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Although recent advances in therapeutic approaches for treating HCC have improved the prognoses of patients with HCC, this cancer is still associated with a poor survival rate mainly due to late diagnosis. Therefore, a diagnosis must be made sufficiently early to perform curative and effective treatments. There is a need for a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the initiation and progression of HCC because these mechanisms are critical for making early diagnoses and developing novel therapeutic strategies. Over the past decade, much progress has been made in elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying hepatocarcinogenesis. In particular, recent advances in next-generation sequencing technologies have revealed numerous genetic alterations, including recurrently mutated genes and dysregulated signaling pathways in HCC. A better understanding of the genetic alterations in HCC could contribute to identifying potential driver mutations and discovering novel therapeutic targets in the future. In this article, we summarize the current advances in research on the genetic alterations, including genomic instability, single-nucleotide polymorphisms, somatic mutations and deregulated signaling pathways, implicated in the initiation and progression of HCC. We also attempt to elucidate some of the genetic mechanisms that contribute to making early diagnoses of and developing molecularly targeted therapies for HCC. 展开更多

Hepatectomy is currently considered the most effective option for treating patients with early and intermediate hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Unfortunately, the postoperative prognosis of patients with HCC remains unsatisfactory, predominantly because of high postoperative metastasis and recurrence rates. Therefore, research on the molecular mechanisms of postoperative HCC metastasis and recurrence will help develop effective intervention measures to prevent or delay HCC metastasis and recurrence and to improve the long-term survival of HCC patients.Herein,we review the latest research progress on the molecular mechanisms underlying postoperative HCC metastasis and recurrence to lay a foundation for improving the understanding of HCC metastasis and recurrence and for developing more precise prevention and intervention strategies. 展开更多

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) are noncodingRNAs (ncRNAs) that occupy over 90% of the human genome, and their mainfunction is to directly or indirectly regulate messenger RNA (mRNA) expressionand participate in the tumorigenesis and progression of malignances. Inparticular, some lncRNAs can interact with miRNAs as competing endogenousRNAs (ceRNAs) to modulate mRNA expression. Accordingly, these RNAmolecules are interrelated and coordinate to form a dynamic lncRNA-mediatedceRNA regulatory network. Mounting evidence has revealed that lncRNAs thatact as ceRNAs are closely related to tumorigenesis. To date, numerous studieshave established many different regulatory networks in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC), and perturbations in these ceRNA interactions may result in the initiationand progression of HCC. Herein, we emphasize recent advances concerning thebiological function of lncRNAs as ceRNAs in HCC, with the aim of elucidating themolecular mechanism underlying these HCC-related RNA molecules andproviding novel insights into the diagnosis and treatment of HCC. 展开更多

Long non-coding RNAs(lnc RNAs) are a subgroup of non-coding RNA transcripts greater than 200 nucleotides in length with little or no protein-coding potential. Emerging evidence indicates that lnc RNAs may play important regulatory roles in the pathogenesis and progression of human cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). Certain lnc RNAs may be used as diagnostic or prognostic markers for HCC, a serious malignancy with increasing morbidity and high mortality rates worldwide. Therefore, elucidating the functional roles of lnc RNAs in tumors can contribute to a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms of HCC and may help in developing novel therapeutic targets. In this review, we summarize the recent progress regarding the functional roles of lnc RNAs in HCC and explore their clinical implications as diagnostic or prognostic biomarkers and molecular therapeutic targets for HCC. 展开更多

AIM: To perform a comprehensive investigation into the potential correlation between circulating myeloidderived suppressor cells (MDSCs) and Th17 cells in esophageal cancer (ECA). METHODS: A total of 31 patients newly diagnosed with ECA and 26 healthy subjects were included in the current study. The frequencies of MDSCs and Th17 cells in peripheral blood were determined by flow cytometry. The mRNA expression of cytokines, arginase 1 (Arg1) and inducible NO synthase (iNOS) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and plasma Arg1 were assessed by real-time polymerase chain reaction and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, respectively. RESULTS: There was an increased prevalence of MDSCs in the peripheral blood from ECA patients (15.21% ± 2.25%) when compared with healthy control (HC) (1.10% ± 0.12%, P < 0.0001). The plasma levels of Arg1 in ECA patients were significantly higher than those in HC (28.28 ± 4.10 ng/mL vs 9.57 ± 1.51 ng/ mL, P=0.0003). iNOS mRNA levels in the peripheral blood of ECA patients also showed a threefold increase compared with HC (P=0.0162). The frequencies of Th17 cells (CD4 + IL-17A + ) were significantly elevated in ECA patients versus HC (3.50% ± 0.33% vs 1.82% ± 0.19%, P=0.0001). Increased mRNA expression of IL-17 and ROR-γt was also observed in ECA patients compared with HC (P=0.0041 and P=0.0004, respectively), while the mRNA expression of IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) showed significant decreases (P=0.0049 and P < 0.0001, respectively). No obvious correlations were found between the frequencies of MDSCs and Th17 cells in the peripheral blood from ECA patients(r=-0.1725, P=0.3534). Arg1 mRNA levels were positively correlated with levels of IL-6 (r=0.6404, P=0.0031) and TNF-α (r=0.7646, P=0.0001). Similarly, iNOS mRNA levels were also positively correlated with levels of IL-6 (r=0.6782, P=0.0007) and TNF-α (r=0.7633, P < 0.0001). CONCLUSION: This study reveals the relationship between circulating MDSCs and Th17 cells, which may lead to new immunotherapy approaches for ECA based on the associated metabolites and cytokines. 展开更多

Circular RNAs(circRNAs)have covalently closed loop structures at both ends, exhibiting characteristics dissimilar to those of linear RNAs.Emerging evidence suggests that aberrantly expressed circRNAs play crucial roles in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)by affecting the proliferation, apoptosis and invasive capacity of HCC cells.Certain circRNAs may be used as biomarkers to diagnose and predict the prognosis of HCC.Therefore, circRNAs are expected to become novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets for HCC.Herein,we briefly review the characteristics and biological functions of circRNAs,focusing on their roles in HCC to provide new insights for the early diagnosis and targeted therapy of HCC. 展开更多

Cubic Mn_(2)Ru_(x)Ga Heusler compound is a typical example of compensated ferrimagnet with attractive potential for high-density,ultrafast,and low-power spintronic applications. In the form of epitaxial thin films,Mn_(2)Ru_(x)Ga exhibits high spin polarization and high tunability of compensation temperature by freely changing the Ru content x in a broad range(0.3<x<1.0).Herein Mn-Ru-Ga-based polycrystalline bulk buttons prepared by arc melting are systematically studied and it is found that in equilibrium bulk form, the cubic structure is unstable when x<0.75.To overcome this limitation,Mn-Ru-Ga is alloyed with a fourth element V.By adjusting the content of V in the By adjusting the content of V in the Mn_(2)Ru_(0.75)V_(y)Ga and Mn_(2.25-y)Ru_(0.75)V_(y)Ga quaternary systems the magnetic compensation temperature is tuned.Compensation is achieved near 300 K which is confirmed by both the magnetic measurement and anomalous Hall effect measurement. The analyses of the anomalous Hall effect scaling in quaternary Mn-Ru-V-Ga alloy reveal the dominant role of skew scattering, notably that contributed caused by the thermally excited phonons,in contrast to the dominant intrinsic mechanism found in many other 3d ferromagnets and Heusler compounds. It is further shown that the Ga antisites and V content can simultaneously control the residual resistivity ratio(RRR)as well as the relative contribution of phonon and defect to the anomalous Hall effect a"/a0'in Mn-Ru-V-Ga,resulting in a scaling relation a"/a0'∝RRR^(1.8). 展开更多
