For the AMANDA experiment a new type of optical module-the digital analog optical Module(dAOM)-has been developed,It incorporates some local' intelligece' for slow control and active electronics for analog pulse transmission.More than 20 dAOM prototypes have been successfully deployed into the polar ice during the 1999/2000 antarctic season and are running since that time. They are connected to the dAOM DAQ boards at the surface by single twisted pari cables over distances upto 2.7km.CORBA based client-server applications establish world-wide,logical access to every dAOM. 展开更多
