CRISPR/Cas9 technology, a revolutionary gene-editing tool, has rapidly garnered attention in plant science owing to its simplicity, high editing efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Besides, it offers unprecedented precision and efficiency in the genetic improvement of fruit trees. To date, this technology has been widely utilized to enhance fruit quality, improve stress resistance, and mediate growth and development. These applications demonstrate its immense potential in fruit tree breeding. Looking ahead, advancements in editing efficiency, expanded application scopes, comprehensive safety assessments, and improved regulatory frameworks are expected to further broaden the role of CRISPR/Cas9 in fruit tree breeding, thereby driving the fruit tree industry toward higher yield, superior quality, enhanced stress resilience, higher efficiency, and contributing to global food security and sustainable agricultural development. This article outlines the fundamental principles of CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing technology, its applications in plants (including fruit trees), and its pivotal role in genetic improvement and germplasm innovation. 展开更多

Blueberries have recently gained popularity as a"superfruit"among consumers worldwide.The rise of healthy eating concepts has led to widespread recognition of the nutritional content and antioxidant properties of blueberries,boosting the blueberry industry s rapid growth.Blueberry production and processing are currently major elements of the agricultural economy in many nations and regions,including the United States,Canada,and Europe.The blueberry business has developed a reasonably mature industrial chain that includes planting,harvesting,processing,sales,and other components.The blueberry industry in China started relatively late.However,with the growth of market demand and consumer attention to healthy food,the blueberry planting area has been expanding every year.Several provinces and cities in China are actively promoting the construction of blueberry planting bases and gradually expanding from planting to deep processing fields,forming diversified products,including fresh fruits,dried fruits,jams,and blueberry drinks.With advancements in technology and innovation in management models,the efficiency and market competitiveness of blueberry cultivation are progressively improving.The blueberry industry has broad prospects.On the one hand,the ongoing enhancement of consumer health needs is expected to elevate the market demand for blueberries as high-value functional foods;alternatively,the advancement of planting technology and cold chain logistics may further optimize the yield and quality of the blueberry industry.The production of deep-processed blueberry goods will become a significant highlight of industrial development,enhancing the market value.This study aimed to investigate the various categories of blueberries,the blueberry industry s current state of development,and the challenges it encounters.In summary,the blueberry sector possesses significant future potential,but it also faces problems,including planting practices,market competitiveness,and brand development.The blueberry industry can expand and industrialize due to creative developments. 展开更多

Hydrogenation/deuteration of carbon chloride(C–Cl)bonds is of high significance but remains a remarkable challenge in synthetic chemistry,especially using safe and inexpensive hydrogen donors.In this article,a visible-light-photocatalytic watersplitting hydrogenation technology(WSHT)is proposed to in-situ generate active H-species(i.e.,Had)for controllable hydrogenation of aryl chlorides instead of using flammable H2.When applying heavy water-splitting systems,we could selectively install deuterium at the C–Cl position of aryl chlorides under mild conditions for the sustainable synthesis of high-valued added deuterated chemicals.Sub-micrometer Pd nanosheets(Pd NSs)decorated crystallined polymeric carbon nitrides(CPCN)is developed as the bifunctional photocatalyst,whereas Pd NSs not only serve as a cocatalyst of CPCN to generate and stabilize H(D)-species but also play a significant role in the sequential activation and hydrogenation/deuteration of C–Cl bonds.This article highlights a photocatalytic-WSHT for controllable hydrogenation/deuteration of low-cost aryl chlorides,providing a promising way for the photosynthesis of high-valued added chemicals instead of the hydrogen evolution. 展开更多
