A computed tomography scan showed d...Here, we report on a case of acute phlegmonous gastritis (PG) complicated by delayed perforation. A 51-year-old woman presented with severe abdominal pain and septic shock symptoms. A computed tomography scan showed diffuse thickening of the gastric wall and distention with peritoneal fluid. Although we did not find definite evidence of free air on the computed tomography (CT) scan, the patient’s clinical condition suggested diffuse peritonitis requiring surgical intervention. Exploratory laparotomy revealed a thickened gastric wall with suppurative intraperitoneal fluid in which Streptococcus pyogenes grew. There was no evidence of gastric or duodenal perforation. No further operation was performed at that time. The patient was conservatively treated with antibiotics and proton pump inhibitor, and her condition improved. However, she experienced abdominal and flank pain again on postoperative day 10. CT and esophagogastroduodenoscopy showed a large gastric ulcer with perforation. Unfortunately, although the CT showed further improvement in the thickening of the stomach and the mucosal defect, the patient’s condition did not recover until a week later, and an esophagogastroduodenoscopy taken on postoperative day 30 showed suspected gastric submucosal dissection. We performed total gastrectomy as a second operation, and the patient recovered without major complications. A pathological examination revealed a multifocal ulceration and necrosis from the mucosa to the serosa with perforation.展开更多

Depend can be classified into differ...The coexistence of magnetic ordering and ferroelectricity, ing on the origin of ferroelectricity, multiferroic materials known as multiferroics, has drawn a lot of research effort. Depend can be classified into different groups. In this paper, we review re cent progress in the field of multiferroics induced by different forms of charge ordering. In addition to a general description of charge order and electronic ferroelectricity, we focus on two specific systems： （1） charge order with frustration in RFe2O4 （R=Lu, Yb） system; （2） charge ordered perovskite manganites of the type （R1-xCax）MnO3 （R=La, Pr）. The charge ordering can be tuned by external electric fields, which results in pronounced magnetoelectric effects and strong dielectric tunability. Other materials and possible candidates with charge order induced multiferroics are also briefly summarized.展开更多
Large low-field-induced magnetic entropy changes,ΔSM,are observed in La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 and La0.67-Ca0.33Mn0.96Fe0.04O3 single crystals.The peaks ofΔSM broadened asymmetrically to high temperatures under higher magnet...Large low-field-induced magnetic entropy changes,ΔSM,are observed in La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 and La0.67-Ca0.33Mn0.96Fe0.04O3 single crystals.The peaks ofΔSM broadened asymmetrically to high temperatures under higher magnetic fields for two materials should be attributed to the first-order magnetic phase transition at Tc.A small amount of iron doping results in an increase in the refrigerant capacity of the material though the magnetic entropy change decreases.The discovery of excellent magnetocaloric features of these single crystals in the low magnetic field can provide some ideas for exploring novel magnetic refrigerants operating under permanent magnet rather than superconducting one as magnetic field source.展开更多
