An exact solution is obtained for a flat fluid layer contained between two free boundaries. A linear stability analysis and a normal mode analysis method are carried out to study the onset convection. For stationary convection, various parameters such as the medium permeability, the solute gradients, the non-buoyancy magnetization, and the micropolar parameters (i.e., the coupling parameter, the spin diffusion parameter, and the micropolar heat conduction parameter) are analyzed. The critical magnetic thermal Rayleigh number for the onset of instability is determined numerically for a sufficiently large value of the buoyancy magnetization parameter M1. The principle of exchange of stabilities is found to be true for the micropolar fluid heated from below in the absence of the micropolar viscous effect, the microinertia, and the solute gradients. The micropolar viscous effect, the microinertia, and the solute gradient introduce oscillatory modes, which are non-existent in their absence. Sufficient conditions for the non-existence of overstability are also obtained.展开更多

The content and complexation ability of monomer Schiff base (N,N'-BSEDA) for cobalt ions in prepared crosslinked polymer beads have shown dependence on the amount of DVB used in reaction mixture. The amount of monomer Schiff base (N,N '-BSEDA) in crosslinked beads showed a substantial decreasing trend at high concentration of DVB in the reaction mixture (> 1.5 mol dm-3), hence the efficiency of complexation (EC%) and cobalt ion loading (EL%) of polymer beads showed a decreasing trend. The structure of monomer Schiff base (N,N'-BSEDA) and its cobalt complex on polymer support was elucidated by IR, UV and magnetic measurements. The catalytic activity of polymer bound cobalt Schiff base complex was evaluated by analyzing kinetic data of decomposition of hydrogen peroxide in the presence of either supported cobalt complex or free cobalt complex. The activation energy for the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide by polymer supported cobalt complex was found to be low (33.37 kJ mol-1) in comparison with unsupported cobalt complex (56.35 kJ mol-1). On the basis of experimental observations, reaction steps are proposed and a suitable rate expression derived.展开更多

The consumptive use of water includes evaporation loss, seepage loss and water exchanges requirements. The water requirement has been estimated to be10.3 m3/Kg of fish production under present study for semi-intensive culture and with supplemental feeding. Out of which7.6 m3/Kg of fish production is system associated requirement. On an average the evaporation loss from the pond is1498.3 mm/year and seepage loss per year is about1182.60 mm/year. Seepage and water exchange losses recharge the ground water aquifers and if they are treated and recycled, the water use in aquaculture can be reduced significantly. A further reduction in fresh water use in pond aquaculture is possible through development of intensive and superintensive culture systems and aqua feeds.展开更多
