Patna is among the cities high populated at risk of ecological and environmental deterioration due to a variety of human activities,such as poor land cover management.One of the most crucial elements of a successful land resource management plan is the evaluation of Land Use Land Cover(LULC).Over the past 20 years,our planet’s land cover resources have undergone substantial changes due to rapid development.The Land Use Land Cover(LULC)categories of the Patna Urban Agglomeration(PUA),including water bodies,agricultural land,barren land,built-up areas,and vegetation,were identified using Geographic Information System(GIS)techniques.Three multi-temporal images were analyzed and classified through supervised classification using the maximum likelihood method.By comparing three separately created LULC categorized maps from 1990 and 2024,temporal changes were analyzed.In order to update land cover or manage natural resources,it is vital to use change detection as a tool to identify changes in LULC over time in PUA,Patna between 1990,2010 and 2024.According to their respective Kappa coefficients,the accuracy rates for 1990,2010 and 2024 LULC are 91.66 and 94.93,respectively.An accuracy evaluation was conducted to determine the correctness of the classification system and to determine the efficacy of the LULC classification maps.One hundred reference test pixels were identified.There have been found significant changes in the LULC were built up area has increased doubled in last thirty-four years of timeline. 展开更多

Bridging the gap:Nursing faculty’s perceptions and challenges in teaching generation Z students

Objective:This study aims to assess nursing faculty’s perceptions and challenges in teaching Generation Z students,providing insights into the barriers and opportunities in bridging the generational learning gap.Material and Methods:A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 335 nursing faculty members in the Delhi NCR region.Participants were recruited using a snowball sampling technique,and data were collected via a self-administered structured questionnaire.The questionnaire measured faculty perceptions and challenges using a Likert scale,with reliability assessed using Cronbach’s alpha.Data were analyzed through Descriptive and inferential statistics.Results:Findings revealed that while faculty recognize the need for technology integration and student-centered learning,they face challenges such as academic integrity concerns,psychological stress,and adapting to Gen Z’s expectations for personalized learning.The correlation between faculty perceptions and challenges was negligible(r=0.020,P=0.717),indicating that faculty perceptions remain stable despite these difficulties.Conclusion:Nursing faculty need to adapt pedagogical approaches to meet the evolving needs of Gen Z students.Bridging the gap between traditional teaching methods and the evolving needs of Generation Z requires faculty training,institutional support,and curriculum innovations. 展开更多

Rapid and precise diagnostic tools for Monkeypox(Mpox)lesions are crucial for effective treatment because their symptoms are similar to those of other pox-related illnesses,like smallpox and chickenpox.The morphological similarities between smallpox,chickenpox,and monkeypox,particularly in how they appear as rashes and skin lesions,which can sometimes make diagnosis challenging.Chickenpox lesions appear in many simultaneous phases and are more diffuse,often beginning on the trunk.In contrast,monkeypox lesions emerge progressively and are typically centralized on the face,palms,and soles.To provide accessible diagnostics,this study introduces a novel method for automated monkeypox lesion classification using the HMTNet(Hybrid Mobile Transformer Network).The convolutional layers and Vision Transformers(ViT)are combined to enhance the spatial features.In addition,we replace the classical MHSA(Multi-head self-attention)with the WMHSA(Window-based Multi-Head Self-Attention)to effectively capture long-range dependencies within image patches and depth-wise separable convolutions for local feature extraction.We trained and validated HMTNet on the two datasets for binary and multiclass classification.The model achieved 98.38% accuracy for multiclass classification using cross-validation and 99.25% accuracy for binary classification.These findings show that the model has the potential to be a useful diagnostic tool for monkeypox,especially in environments with limited resources. 展开更多

Soil salinization affecting different crops is one of the serious threats to global food security.Soil salinity affects 20%and 33%of the total cultivated and irrigated agricultural lands,respectively,and has been reported to caused a global crop production loss of 27.3 billion USD.The conventional approaches,such as using salt-tolerant varieties,saline soil scrapping,flushing,leaching,and adding supplements (e.g.,gypsum and lime),often fail to alleviate stress.In this context,developing diverse arrays of microbes enhancing crop productivity under saline soil conditions without harming soil health is necessary.Various advanced omics approaches have enabled gaining new insights into the structure and metabolic functions of plant-associated beneficial microbes.Various genera of salt-tolerating rhizobacteria ameliorating biotic and abiotic stresses have been isolated from different legumes,cereals,vegetables,and oil seeds under extreme alkaline and saline soil conditions.Rapid progress in rhizosphere microbiome research has revived the belief that plants may be more benefited from their association with interacting diverse microbial communities as compared with individual members in a community.In the last decade,several salt-tolerating plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) that improve crop production under salt stress have been exploited for the reclamation of saline agrosystems.This review highlights that the interaction of salt-tolerating microbes with plants improves crop productivity under salinity stress along with potential salt tolerance mechanisms involved and will open new avenues for capitalizing on cultivable diverse microbial communities to strengthen plant salt tolerance and,thus,to refine agricultural practices and production under saline conditions. 展开更多

Objective:To find out the anti-mycobacterial potential of Cassia sophera(C.sophera),Urtica dioica(U.dioica),Momordica dioica,Tribulus terrains and Coccinia indica plants against multidrug resistant(MDR) strain of Mycobacterium tuberculosis(M.tuberculosis).Methods:Plant materials were extracted successively with solvents of increasing polarity.Solvent extracts were screened for anti-mycobacterial activity against fast growing,non-pathogenic mycobacterium strain,Mycobacterium semegmatis,by disk diffusion method.The active extracts were tested against MDR and clinical isolates of M.tuberculosis by absolute concentration and proportion methods.The active extracts were subjected to bio-autoassay on TLC followed by silica column chromatography for isolation of potential drug leads.Results:Hexane extract of U.dioica(HEUD) and methanol extract of C.sophera(MECS) produced inhibition zone of 20 mm in disc diffusion assay and MIC of 250 and 125μg/mL respectively in broth dilution assay against Mycobacterium semegmatis.Semipurified traction F2 from MECS produced 86%inhibition against clinical isolate and 60%inhibition against MDR strain of ilf.tuberculosis.F18 from HEUD produced 81%inhibition against clinical isolate and 60%inhibition against MDR strain of M.tuberculosis.Phytochemical analysis indicated that anti-mycobacterial activity of MECS may be due to presence of alkaloids or flavonoids and that of HEUD due to terpenoids.Condosions:C.sophera and U.dioica plant extracts exhibited promising anti-mycobacterial activity against MDR strain of M.tuberculosis. This is the first report of anti-mycobacterial activity form C.sophera.This study showed possibility of purifying novel anti-mycobacterial compound(s) from C.sophera and U.dioica. 展开更多

Soil microbes play a vital role in improving plant growth,crop productivity,and soil health through solubilization of essential nutrients.Present investigation was conducted to access the efficacy of Bradyrhizobium sp.LSBR-3 and the indigenous phosphate-solubilizing Pseudomonas oryzihabitans LSE-3 in improving the symbiosis,nutrient accumulation,and yield of soybean.The isolate LSE-3,selected on the basis of phosphate solubilization,was screened for beneficial traits,antagonistic activities,and pathogenicity.The levels of indole acetic acid production(50.34±2.35μg mL^(-1)),phosphate solubilization(184.4±7.4 mg L^(-1)),biofilm formation(optical density at 560 mm,1.3896±0.04),siderophore production(121.46±1.61μg mL^(-1)),and 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase activity(0.51±0.07 mmolα-ketobutyrateμg^(-1) protein h^(-1))were significantly higher with the dual inoculants(LSBR-3 and LSE-3)than with the single inoculant LSBR-3.The plant growth-promoting traits of single and dual inoculants were evaluated for the synergistic effects on soybean under field conditions.Soybean plots treated with LSBR-3+LSE-3 exhibited improvement in seed germination,plant height,plant biomass,and chlorophyll content compared with the uninoculated control.Dual inoculant treatments resulted in significantly higher symbiotic efficacy evidenced by increased nodulation(40.0±0.75 plant^(-1)),nodule biomass(188.52±6.29 mg plant^(-1)),and leghemoglobin content(11.02±0.83 mg g^(-1) fresh nodule),and significantly increased activities of phosphatase(75.16±3.17 and 58.77±6.08μg p-nitrophenol g^(-1) h^(-1) for alkaline and acid phosphatase,respectively)and dehydrogenase(32.66±1.92μg triphenylformazan g^(-1) h^(-1))compared with the control.Dual inoculation with LSBR-3 and LSE-3 enhanced the uptake of macro-and micronutrients,reduced Na content in shoots,and resulted in 10.85%higher grain yield and ca.US$96.80 ha^(-1) higher profit compared with the control.This is the first report on the effectiveness of combined inoculation of LSE-3 and LSBR-3 in promoting the growth,symbiotic efficacy,and yield of soybean for sustainable agriculture. 展开更多

Film of PEO containg AgCF3SO3 were prepared by the solution casting technique. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy have been carried out on a series of complexes containing poly (ethylene oxide) PEO and silver triflate (AgCF3SO3) salt. Spectral analysis of all the samples has revealed the complexation of silver ions with oxygen in PEO. The ac conductivity and electrical modulus of the samples prepared have been analyzed. The ac conductivity was observed to obey the Universal power law. The temperature dependence of the power law exponent n is reasonably interpreted by the overlapping large polaron tunneling (OLPT) model. The imaginary part, M” of electrical modulus shows the formation of dispersion peak. The plot of log conductivity relaxation times and log sigma as a function of salt concentration was in accordance with each other. 展开更多

Aspergillus is a group of conidial fungi,isolated from soil and litter,cause serious diseases in humans and animals.This ubiquitous fungus is prevalent in the air and inhalation of fungal spores is common.Fungal diseases from Aspergillus became a major health problem and are difficult to manage because they tend to be chronic and invasive,hard to diagnose and difficult to exterminate with antifungal drugs.Although,immune responses play vital roles in monitoring the fate of fungal infections and regulation of the immune responses against fungal infections might be an effective approach for controlling and reducing the pathological damages.Recent studies have shown that microRNAs(miRNAs)are assembly of regulators which modulates the immune responses during fungal infections through diversified cellular mechanisms.These small non-coding RNA sequences regulate gene expression,mostly at the post-transcriptional level and have emerged as the controller of gene expression of at least 30%human genes.Therefore,miRNAs might be considered as one of the potential goals in immunotherapy for fungal infections.The objective of this review is to explore the role of miRNAs in host recognition processes and understanding the modulation of regulatory pathways in response to Aspergillus exposure. 展开更多

It is shown by means of an appropriately chosen linear transformation, that in case of stationary convection the equations describing the eigenvalue problem for thermohaline convection problems are identical to equations describing the eigenvalue problem for classical Bénard convection problem. As a consequence, the values of the critical Rayleigh numbers for the onset of stationary convection in thermohaline convection problems are obtained. Also, necessary conditions for the validity of principle of exchange of stabilities for thermohaline convection problems are derived using variational principle. 展开更多

A quaternary super-ionic glass system xAgI: (95-x) [Ag2O:2V2O5]: 5TeO2, where 40 ≤ x ≤ 65 in steps of 5, has been pre- pared by melt quenching technique. The prepared glass samples are characterized by X-ray, FTIR and DSC studies. As revealed by the FTIR spectra, the oxyanion network is not affected by the addition of AgI. The frequency dependence of the electrical conductivity for various glass compositions at different temperatures has been analyzed in terms of Jon- scher’s universal power law. The measurements reveal that the conductivity increases from σ = 7.62 × 10–7 S/cm to 1.15 × 10–4 S/cm with increasing AgI content. The temperature dependent conductivity obeys the Arrhenius relationship. The impedance and modulus studies indicate the non-debye type of the frequency dispersion for all the glass samples. 展开更多

The electrical properties of proton ion beam irradiated glass samples are carried out by impedance spectroscopy in the frequency range from 10 Hz to 32 MHz. The ion beam of energy 3 MeV and fluence of of 1014 particles cm-2 was chosen for irradiation. The conductivity of the super ionic glass samples increases after irradiation and other electrical parameters like dielectric constant, dielectric loss and modulus of the proton irradiated glass samples as a function of glass composition and temperature are observed to change. The dielectric constant and the dielectric losses are increased after irradiation and the modulus parameters confirm the non-Debye nature for irradiated samples also. 展开更多

The polymer films were characterized by impedance spectroscopy, XRD, DSC, SEM, FT-IR and ionic transport mea-surements. The results indicate an enhancement in conductivity of PEO-PMMA-AgNO3-EC polymer electrolytes. The ionic conductivity of the polymer films is also found to increase with temperature. Given the environmental pollution caused by petroleum-based plastics,finding alternative substitutes for sustainability has become critical.Polyhydroxybutyrate(PHB),a storage food material that is accumulated by several bacteria,is biodegrad-able,safe,environment friendly and comparable to conventional plastics.However,scale-up is an issue due to high produc-tion cost.Substrate replacement using renewable,plentiful,sustainable and low-cost carbon sources derived from industrial waste facilitates waste reduction,while also enabling the synthesis of value-added products.In this context,inexpensive pulp and paper industrial waste as carbon source was exploited for production of PHB by using previously isolated(Source:hot springs of Manikarn,Himachal Pradesh,India)thermophilic bacteria Bacillus sonorensis NAM5 under optimized conditions in a fermenter.Production was done in a fermenter under optimized conditions(72 h of incubation at 50℃temperature and 7 pH)to enhance the accumulation of PHB.The bacterial strain was able to produce 5.28±0.11 gL^(-1)after 72 h of growth without any carbon and nitrogen source supplementation to the industrial effluent.The culture accumulated 66%PHB of cell dry weight(CDW).The produced polymer was characterized through FTIR,NMR and TGA.Additionally,bacteria-treated industrial wastewater was used for phytotoxicity assay on agriculturally important crops such as wheat,maize and mung,which exhibited considerable difference in growth parameters. 展开更多
