Objective Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)can result in fatigue and post-exertional malaise;however,whether severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection exacerbates lower urinary tract sympto...Objective Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)can result in fatigue and post-exertional malaise;however,whether severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection exacerbates lower urinary tract symptoms(LUTS)is unclear.This study investigated the association between prenatal SARS-CoV-2 infection and postpartum LUTS.Methods A multicenter,retrospective cohort study was conducted at two tertiary hospitals in China from November 1,2022,to November 1,2023.Participants were classified into infected and uninfected groups based on SARS-CoV-2 antigen results.LUTS prevalence and severity were assessed using self-reported symptoms and the Incontinence Impact Questionnaire-Short Form(IIQ-7).Pelvic floor muscle activity was measured using electromyography following the Glazer protocol.Group comparisons were performed to evaluate the association of SARS-CoV-2 infection with LUTS and electromyography parameters,with stratified analyses conducted using SPSS version 26.0.Results Among 3,652 participants(681 infected,2,971 uninfected),no significant differences in LUTS prevalence or IIQ-7 scores were observed.However,SARS-CoV-2 infection was an independent factor influencing the electromyographic activity of the pelvic floor muscles(mean tonic contraction amplitudes),regardless of delivery mode(P=0.001).Conclusion Prenatal SARS-CoV-2 infection was not significantly associated with an increased risk of postpartum LUTS but independently altered pelvic floor muscle electromyographic activity,suggesting potential neuromuscular effects.展开更多

Methods: A prospective non-controlled study was conducted. Opioid tolerant patients with cancer pain were enrolled and treated with both routinely analgesics and adjuvant HANS (2/100 Hz for 30 min/d, 5 d on and 2 d off for two weeks). Cancer pain, quality of life (QOL), anxiety and depression were assessed before enrollment and on d 8 and d 15 with the BPI-C, EORTC QLQ-C30, and self-rating anxiety scale (SAS)/ self-rating depression scale (SDS), respectively; the therapeutic frequency of breakthrough pain (BP) and daily opioid dose were also recorded. Results: Totally 47 patients meeting the inclusion criteria participated in this study; 43 patients completed the two-week treatment and assessment. The mean scores of patient's "worst" and "least" pain intensity assessed with BPI-C decreased significantly on d 8 and d 15; the therapeutic frequency of BP also significantly decreased; but the average daily dose of opioids did not change significantly. For the nine symptoms in EORTC QLQ-C30 assessment, the mean scores of pain, fatigue, constipation and insomnia were significantly lower on d 8 and d 15 compared with baseline; the mean scores of the overall health status, nausea/vomiting and the incidence rates of both anxiety and depression also decreased significantly on d 15. Conclusions: To opioid tolerant patients with cancer pain, adjuvant treatment with HANS could improve pain release and patients' QOL by decreasing the severity of pain, fatigue, constipation, insomnia and other concomitant symptoms; it could also decrease the incidence rates of anxiety and depression.展开更多
As the demand for green energy with high efficiency and low carbon dioxide(CO2)emissions has increased,solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs)have been intensively developed in recent years.Integrated gasification fuel cells(IG...As the demand for green energy with high efficiency and low carbon dioxide(CO2)emissions has increased,solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs)have been intensively developed in recent years.Integrated gasification fuel cells(IGFCs)in particular show potential for large-scale power generation to further increase system efficiency.Thus,for commercial application of IGFCs,it is important to design reliable multi-stacks for large systems that show long-term stability and practical fuel gas for application to industrial equipment.In this work,a test rig(of a 5 kW SOFC system,with syngas from industrial gasifiers as fuel)was fabricated and subjected to long-term tests under high fuel utilization to investigate its performance.The maximum steady output power of the system was 5700 W using hydrogen and 5660 W using syngas and the maximum steady electrical efficiency was 61.24%while the fuel utilization efficiency was 89.25%.The test lasted for more than 500 h as the fuel utilization efficiency was larger than 83%.The performances of each stack tower were almost identical at both the initial stage and after long-term operation.After 500 h operation,the performances of the stack towers decreased only slightly under lower current and showed almost no change under high current.These results demonstrate the reliability of the multi-stack design and the prospect of this SOFC power-generation system for further enlarging its application in a MWth demonstration.展开更多

Together,the heat island eff ect and air pollution pose a threat to human health and well-being in urban settings.Nature-based solutions such as planting trees are a mitigation strategy to improve outdoor temperatures...Together,the heat island eff ect and air pollution pose a threat to human health and well-being in urban settings.Nature-based solutions such as planting trees are a mitigation strategy to improve outdoor temperatures(thermal comfort)and enhance air quality in urban areas.In this study,outdoor thermal comfort,and particulate matter levels were compared between treeless and treed areas to provide a better understanding of how street trees improve thermal comfort and air quality.Street trees decreased the physiological equivalent temperature from 46.3 to 44.2℃in summer but increased it from 36.4 to 37.5℃in autumn.Air temperature and relative humidity contributed more in summer while wind speed contributed more in autumn.Particulate matter concentrations were negatively correlated with physiological equivalent temperature in summer but not in autumn.The presence of trees decreased concentrations of fi ne particulate matter in hot summer conditions but increased in hot autumn conditions.The presence of trees increased coarse particulate matter in very hot summer conditions in summer and in hot autumn conditions.Overall,the layout of trees in urban street canyons should consider the trade-off between outdoor thermal comfort and air quality improvement.展开更多
Virtual machine(VM)consolidation is an effective way to improve resource utilization and reduce energy consumption in cloud data centers.Most existing studies have considered VM consolidation as a bin-packing problem,...Virtual machine(VM)consolidation is an effective way to improve resource utilization and reduce energy consumption in cloud data centers.Most existing studies have considered VM consolidation as a bin-packing problem,but the current schemes commonly ignore the long-term relationship between VMs and hosts.In addition,there is a lack of long-term consideration for resource optimization in the VM consolidation,which results in unnecessary VM migration and increased energy consumption.To address these limitations,a VM consolidation method based on multi-step prediction and affinity-aware technique for energy-efficient cloud data centers(MPaAF-VMC)is proposed.The proposed method uses an improved linear regression prediction algorithm to predict the next-moment resource utilization of hosts and VMs,and obtains the stage demand of resources in the future period through multi-step prediction,which is realized by iterative prediction.Then,based on the multi-step prediction,an affinity model between the VM and host is designed using the first-order correlation coefficient and Euclidean distance.During the VM consolidation,the affinity value is used to select the migration VM and placement host.The proposed method is compared with the existing consolidation algorithms on the PlanetLab and Google cluster real workload data using the CloudSim simulation platform.Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve significant improvement in reducing energy consumption,VM migration costs,and service level agreement(SLA)violations.展开更多

However, the main challe...There is growing empirical evidence that certain types of chemotherapy and phototherapy trigger immunogenic cell death and enhance the therapeutic anticancer efficacy of genetic immunotherapy. However, the main challenge is spatiotemporally co-delivering different drugs to maximize the therapeutic index of the combination therapy. In this study, a drug delivery system(HTCP-Au/shPD-L1/DOX) was designed with a polysaccharide-wrapped shell and a condensed DNA core. To construct the HTCP-Au vector, dodecyl side chains with a polyethylenimine(PEI) head were grafted onto hyaluronic acid, and Au NPs were grafted via Au-S bonds. During drug loading, PEI arrested shRNA plasmid DNA targeting programmed cell death ligand 1(shPD-L1) via electrostatic interactions. It also formed a PEI-DNA core that was automatically enclosed when aliphatic hydrocarbons pulled the hyaluronic acid backbone. A hydrophobic interlayer consisting of dodecyl bridge chains between the PEI-DNA core and the hyaluronic acid shell was required to accommodate hydrophobic doxorubicin. In vitro and in vivo assays demonstrated that this core-shell drug delivery system could efficiently load and transport three different drugs and effectively target tumors. Moreover, it could activate the immune system, thereby providing promising therapeutic efficacy against tumor growth and metastasis.展开更多
The APETALA2/ethylene response factor(AP2/ERF)transcription factor(TF)superfamily plays an important regulatory role in the signal transduction of plant responses to various biotic and abiotic stresses,including low t...The APETALA2/ethylene response factor(AP2/ERF)transcription factor(TF)superfamily plays an important regulatory role in the signal transduction of plant responses to various biotic and abiotic stresses,including low temperature.RAV is a subfamily of the AP2/ERF TF family,and its members contain B3 DNA binding and AP2 DNA binding domains.RAV gene family members have been studied in many species,but little is known about their function in tea plants(Camellia sinensis).In this study,seven RAV genes were identified from the tea plant genome database and named CsRAV1-7.Based on phylogenetic analysis,the CsRAV genes were classified into three groups,with genes in the same subgroup exhibiting similar structures and conserved motifs.Out of the seven genes,CsRAV7 was the most distinct and contained a large number of motifs and the longest coding region.Moreover,analysis of cis-acting elements indicated that CsRAVs are likely responsive to both abiotic stress and phytohormones.In addition,quantitative RT-PCR analysis revealed that most CsRAV genes were differentially expressed under cold stress and exogenous MeJA application as both individual and combined treatments.Only CsRAV7 was induced in all six different treatments,suggesting that it may play a key role in JA-mediated cold stress responses in tea plants.展开更多
Multiple sclerosis(MS)is an immune-mediated disease in the central nervous system thatis characterized by demyelination,axonal degeneration,and progressive neurological disability and is so far incurable.Current medic...Multiple sclerosis(MS)is an immune-mediated disease in the central nervous system thatis characterized by demyelination,axonal degeneration,and progressive neurological disability and is so far incurable.Current medications are predominantly immunetargeted but fail to prevent disease progression due to their inability to actively promote remyelination.Small molecules have been reported to promote myelin regeneration but their therapeutic efficacy is limited by insufficient immune modulation.Thus,the strategies achieving both immunomodulation and active myelin regeneration are highly desired.Here,we investigated a combination therapy(CT)for MS designed to simultaneously modulate immune responses and promote oligodendrocyte precursor cell differentiation and in situ remyelination in an experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis mouse model.Remarkably,CT suppressed acute inflammatory activity,activated the signaling pathways for myelin development,induced the expression of myelin-related genes,and significantly promoted remyelination and the recovery of motor performance.Furthermore,a reduced immunomodulator dosage or shorter treatment duration with small-molecule drugs achieved comparable symptom reversal.Our findings demonstrate the potential of CT to address complex pathobiology and lay a foundation for developing novel therapeutic strategies for MS.展开更多
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic factors and to evaluate the impact of adjuvant therapy on clinical outcome for early-stage cervical cancer. Methods: The clinical-pathological data ...Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic factors and to evaluate the impact of adjuvant therapy on clinical outcome for early-stage cervical cancer. Methods: The clinical-pathological data of all 1,335 patients with the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) Ib-[Ia cervical cancer treated with primary radical surgery at the Chinese National Cancer Center between May 2007 and Dec 2013 were retrospectively reviewed. The median follow-up was 70 months. Results: Of all the patients, 61.6% of the cases received adjuvant therapy, with 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) of 92.1% and 5-year overall survival (OS) of 95.0%. In multivariate analysis, differentiation of G3 (P〈0.05), lymph node metastasis (LNM, P〈0.05) and lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI, P〈0.05) were independent predictors for OS, while LNM (P〈0.05), deep stroma invasion (DSI, P〈0.05) and LVSI (P〈0.05) were independent factors for DFS. The samples were stratified by histologic type, and cervical squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) was found to share the same independent factors except for differentiation of OS. As to patients with cervical adenocarcinoma/adenosquamons carcinoma (AC/ASC), differentiation was the independent predictor of OS (P〈0.05); and LVSI of DFS (P〈0.05). Of 236 patients with high-risk factors, there was no significant difference in survival between concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT, n=195), radiotherapy (RT, n=24), and chemotherapy (CT, n=17). Among the 190 patients with LNM who underwent CCRT, 124 cases showed improved DFS after sequential CT (P=0.118), with a recurrence rate decrease of 14%, though the difference was not statistically significant. Patients with single intermediate-risk factors like DSI or LVSI were found to partially benefit from adjuvant therapy, but the difference was not statistically significant. Conclusions: LNM, LVSI, DSI and differentiation were found to be independent prognostic factors for operable cervical cancer. Aggressive postoperative adjuvant therapy based on single risk factors in Chinese National Cancer Center could benefit survival. CCRT+CT outperformed CCRT in high-risk patients. For patients with single non-high-risk factor, the role of adjuvant therapy needs to be further discussed.展开更多
Integrated gasification fuel cells(IGFCs)integrating high-temperature solid oxide fuel cell technology with CO_(2)capture processes represents highly-efficient power systems with negligible CO_(2)emissions.Flame burni...Integrated gasification fuel cells(IGFCs)integrating high-temperature solid oxide fuel cell technology with CO_(2)capture processes represents highly-efficient power systems with negligible CO_(2)emissions.Flame burning with pure oxygen is an ideal method for fuel cell exhaust gas treatment,and this report describes experimental and numerical studies regarding an oxy-combustor for treating the exhaust gas of a 10 kW IGFC system anode.The applied simulation method was verified based on experiments,and the key performance indices of the combustor were studied under various conditions.It was determined that 315 K was the ideal condensation temperature to obtain flame stability.Under these pure oxygen flame burning conditions,CO was almost completely converted,and the dry mole fraction of CO_(2)after burning was C 0.958 when there was up to 5%excess O_(2).Overall,5%excess O_(2)was recommended to maximize CO_(2)capture and promote other environmental considerations.Additionally,the optimal tangential fuel jet angle to control the liner temperature was approximately 25°.The total fuel utilization had to be high enough to maintain the oxygen flame temperature of the anode exhaust gas below 1800 K to ensure that the system was environmentally friendly.The results presented herein have great value for designing IGFCs coupled with CO_(2)capture systems.展开更多
Abstract Here,we provide a status update of an integrated gasification fuel cell(IGFC)power-generation system being developed at the National Institute of Clean-and-Low-Carbon in China at the megawatt thermal(MWth)sca...Abstract Here,we provide a status update of an integrated gasification fuel cell(IGFC)power-generation system being developed at the National Institute of Clean-and-Low-Carbon in China at the megawatt thermal(MWth)scale.This system is designed to use coal as fuel to produce syngas as a first step,similar to that employed for the integrated gasification combined cycle.Subsequently,the solid-oxide fuel-cell(SOFC)system is used to convert chemical energy to electricity directly through an electrochemical reaction without combustion.This system leads to higher efficiency as compared with that from a traditional coal-fired power plant.The unreacted fuel in the SOFC system is transported to an oxygencombustor to be converted to steam and carbon dioxide(CO_(2)).Through a heat-recovery system,the steam is condensed and removed,and CO_(2) is enriched and captured for sequestration or utilization.Comprehensive economic analyses for a typical IGFC system was performed and the results were compared with those for a supercritical pulverized coal-fired power plant.The SOFC stacks selected for IGFC development were tested and qualified under hydrogen and simulated coal syngas fuel.Experimental results using SOFC stacks and thermodynamic analyses indicated that the control of hydrogen/CO ratio of syngas and steam/CO ratio is important to avoid carbon deposition with the fuel pipe.A 20-kW SOFC unit is under development with design power output of 20 kW and DC efficiency of 50.41%.A 100 kW-level subsystem will consist of 6920-kW power-generation units,and the MWth IGFC system will consist of 59100 kWlevel subsystems.展开更多

In this study, the photosynthetic response of poplar leaves at various developmental stages during two seasons (summer and autumn) was explored and mechanistic models for the photosynthesis of poplar leaves at different developmental phases in response photosynthetic active radiation (PAR), temperature, and relatively humidity were established using the optimization software package 1st Opt. Mature poplar leaves in autumn had significantly higher photosynthetic capacity than leaves at other stages and seasons. Based on the models established for poplar leaves at different phases, the main limiting factors for photosynthesis at the research site were high PAR and temperature in the summer and low PAR in the autumn. Our results highlight the importance of selecting suitable sites, pruning and stand density control during the plantation development to maintain higher photosynthetic rates of poplar trees and to establish optimum cultivation patterns for various utilization of poplar plantations.展开更多
Zhigancao decoction is a traditional prescription for treating irregular pulse and palpitations in China.As the monarch drug of Zhigancao decoction,the bioactive molecules of licorice against heart diseases remain elu...Zhigancao decoction is a traditional prescription for treating irregular pulse and palpitations in China.As the monarch drug of Zhigancao decoction,the bioactive molecules of licorice against heart diseases remain elusive.We established the HRESIMS-guided method leading to the isolation of three novel bicyclic peptides,glycnsisitins A-C(1-3),with distinctive C-C and C-O-C side-chain-toside-chain linkages from the roots of Glycyrrhiza uralensis(Licorice).Glycnsisitin A demonstrated stronger cardioprotective activity than glycnsisitins B and C in an in vitro model of doxorubicin(DOX)-induced cardiomyocyte injury.Glycnsisitin A treatment not only reduced the mortality of heart failure(HF)mice in a dose-dependent manner but also significantly attenuated DOX-induced cardiac dysfunction and myocardial fibrosis.Gene set enrichment analysis(GSEA)of the differentially expressed genes indicated that the cardioprotective effect of glycnsisitin A was mainly attributed to its ability to maintain iron homeostasis in the myocardium.Mechanistically,glycnsisitin A interacted with transferrin and facilitated its binding to the transferrin receptor(TFRC),which caused increased uptake of iron in cardiomyocytes.These findings highlight the key role of bicyclic peptides as bioactive molecules of Zhigancao decoction for the treatment of HF,and glycnsisitin A constitutes a promising therapeutic agent for the treatment of HF.展开更多

Nuclear receptor corepressor(NCoR1)interacts with various nuclear receptors and regulates the anabolism and catabolism of lipids.An imbalance in lipid/energy homeostasis is also an important factor in obesity and meta...Nuclear receptor corepressor(NCoR1)interacts with various nuclear receptors and regulates the anabolism and catabolism of lipids.An imbalance in lipid/energy homeostasis is also an important factor in obesity and metabolic syndrome development.In this study,we found that the deletion of NCoR1 in intestinal epithelial cells(IECs)mainly activated the nuclear receptor PPARa and attenuated metabolic syndrome by stimulating thermogenesis.The increase in brown adipose tissue thermogenesis was mediated by gut-derived tricarboxylic acid cycle intermediate succinate,whose production was significantly enhanced by PPARa activation in the fed state.Additionally,NCoR1 deletion derepressed intestinal LXR,increased cholesterol excretion,and impaired duodenal lipid absorption by decreasing bile acid hydrophobicity,thereby reversing the possible negative effects of intestinal PPARa activation.Therefore,the simultaneous regulatory effect of intestinal NCoR1 on both lipid intake and energy expenditure strongly suggests that it is a promising target for developing metabolic syndrome treatment.展开更多
Protein kinase Cα(PKCα)regulates diverse biological functions of cancer cells and is a promising therapeutic target.However,clinical trials of PKC-targeted therapies have not yielded satisfactory results.Recent stud...Protein kinase Cα(PKCα)regulates diverse biological functions of cancer cells and is a promising therapeutic target.However,clinical trials of PKC-targeted therapies have not yielded satisfactory results.Recent studies have also indicated a tumor-suppressive role of PKCs via unclear molecular mechanisms.In this study,we found that PKCαinhibition enhances CD8+T-cell-mediated tumor evasion and abolishes antitumor activity in immunocompetent mice.We further identified PKCαas a critical regulator of programmed cell death-ligand 1(PD-L1)and found that it enhances T-cell-dependent antitumor immunity in breast cancer by interacting with PD-L1 and suppressing PD-L1 expression.We demonstrated that PKCα-mediated PD-L1 phosphorylation promotes PD-L1 degradation throughβtransducin repeat-containing protein.Notably,the efficacy of PKCαinhibitors was intensified by synergizing with anti-PD-L1 mAb therapy to boost antitumor T-cell immunity in vivo.Clinical analysis revealed that PKCαexpression is positively correlated with T-cell function and the interferon-gamma signature in patients with breast cancer.This study demonstrated the antitumor capability of PKCα,identified potential therapeutic strategies to avoid tumor evasion via PKC-targeted therapies,and provided a proof of concept for targeting PKCαin combination with anti-PD-L1 mAb therapy as a potential therapeutic approach against breast cancer,especially TNBC.展开更多
In order to study the hydrocarbon-generating potential of Carboniferous-Permian coal shale in Jiyang Depression,geochemistry,petroleum geology and coal geology were applied to study the residual strata distribution of...In order to study the hydrocarbon-generating potential of Carboniferous-Permian coal shale in Jiyang Depression,geochemistry,petroleum geology and coal geology were applied to study the residual strata distribution of Carboniferous-Permian in Jiyang Depression,organic matter abundance,organic matter types and organic matter maturity of mudstone.The results show that the thickness of the Carboniferous-Permian residual strata in Jiyang Depression is generally 200-800 m,with a maximum thickness of 900 m;the organic matter abundance of coal-bearing shale is good,and it is type III kerogen,which is conducive to gas generation,and the maturity of organic matter reaches a mature-higher maturity stage;the hydrocarbon generation potential of Benxi Formation and Taiyuan Formation is better;Medium to good hydrocarbon source rocks is able to be found in every sag of Shanxi Formation hydrocarbon source rocks,but the scope is limited,and the overall evaluation is still medium.Generally speaking,the Permo-Carboniferous coal-bearing shale in Jiyang Depression has certain shale gas exploration potential.展开更多

文摘Objective Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)can result in fatigue and post-exertional malaise;however,whether severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection exacerbates lower urinary tract symptoms(LUTS)is unclear.This study investigated the association between prenatal SARS-CoV-2 infection and postpartum LUTS.Methods A multicenter,retrospective cohort study was conducted at two tertiary hospitals in China from November 1,2022,to November 1,2023.Participants were classified into infected and uninfected groups based on SARS-CoV-2 antigen results.LUTS prevalence and severity were assessed using self-reported symptoms and the Incontinence Impact Questionnaire-Short Form(IIQ-7).Pelvic floor muscle activity was measured using electromyography following the Glazer protocol.Group comparisons were performed to evaluate the association of SARS-CoV-2 infection with LUTS and electromyography parameters,with stratified analyses conducted using SPSS version 26.0.Results Among 3,652 participants(681 infected,2,971 uninfected),no significant differences in LUTS prevalence or IIQ-7 scores were observed.However,SARS-CoV-2 infection was an independent factor influencing the electromyographic activity of the pelvic floor muscles(mean tonic contraction amplitudes),regardless of delivery mode(P=0.001).Conclusion Prenatal SARS-CoV-2 infection was not significantly associated with an increased risk of postpartum LUTS but independently altered pelvic floor muscle electromyographic activity,suggesting potential neuromuscular effects.
文摘Objective: To observe the adjuvant analgesic efficacy of Han's Acupoint Nerve Stimulator (HANS) in opioid tolerant patients with cancer pain. Methods: A prospective non-controlled study was conducted. Opioid tolerant patients with cancer pain were enrolled and treated with both routinely analgesics and adjuvant HANS (2/100 Hz for 30 min/d, 5 d on and 2 d off for two weeks). Cancer pain, quality of life (QOL), anxiety and depression were assessed before enrollment and on d 8 and d 15 with the BPI-C, EORTC QLQ-C30, and self-rating anxiety scale (SAS)/ self-rating depression scale (SDS), respectively; the therapeutic frequency of breakthrough pain (BP) and daily opioid dose were also recorded. Results: Totally 47 patients meeting the inclusion criteria participated in this study; 43 patients completed the two-week treatment and assessment. The mean scores of patient's "worst" and "least" pain intensity assessed with BPI-C decreased significantly on d 8 and d 15; the therapeutic frequency of BP also significantly decreased; but the average daily dose of opioids did not change significantly. For the nine symptoms in EORTC QLQ-C30 assessment, the mean scores of pain, fatigue, constipation and insomnia were significantly lower on d 8 and d 15 compared with baseline; the mean scores of the overall health status, nausea/vomiting and the incidence rates of both anxiety and depression also decreased significantly on d 15. Conclusions: To opioid tolerant patients with cancer pain, adjuvant treatment with HANS could improve pain release and patients' QOL by decreasing the severity of pain, fatigue, constipation, insomnia and other concomitant symptoms; it could also decrease the incidence rates of anxiety and depression.

文摘As the demand for green energy with high efficiency and low carbon dioxide(CO2)emissions has increased,solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs)have been intensively developed in recent years.Integrated gasification fuel cells(IGFCs)in particular show potential for large-scale power generation to further increase system efficiency.Thus,for commercial application of IGFCs,it is important to design reliable multi-stacks for large systems that show long-term stability and practical fuel gas for application to industrial equipment.In this work,a test rig(of a 5 kW SOFC system,with syngas from industrial gasifiers as fuel)was fabricated and subjected to long-term tests under high fuel utilization to investigate its performance.The maximum steady output power of the system was 5700 W using hydrogen and 5660 W using syngas and the maximum steady electrical efficiency was 61.24%while the fuel utilization efficiency was 89.25%.The test lasted for more than 500 h as the fuel utilization efficiency was larger than 83%.The performances of each stack tower were almost identical at both the initial stage and after long-term operation.After 500 h operation,the performances of the stack towers decreased only slightly under lower current and showed almost no change under high current.These results demonstrate the reliability of the multi-stack design and the prospect of this SOFC power-generation system for further enlarging its application in a MWth demonstration.

文摘Syzygium myrsinifolium(Hance)Merr.et Perry is a unique plant resource on Hainan Island,and there are few reports on its chemical constituents.In the present study,we identified the major chemical constituents in the leaves of Syzygium myrsinifolium(Hance)Merr.et Perry using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray ionization quadrupole time-of-flight tandem mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS).The chemical constituents in Syzygium myrsinifolium(Hance)Merr.et Perry were identified rapidly based on the accurate relative molecular mass and combined with literature data and reference substances.A total of 20 compounds,including organic acids,phenolic acids,and flavonoids,were identified.Among these 20 compounds,four organic acids,eight phenolic acids,seven flavonoids,and one coumarin were reported from the leaves of Syzygium myrsinifolium(Hance)Merr.et Perry for the first time.The established method was rapid and accurate,and some chemical constituents in the leaves of Syzygium myrsinifolium(Hance)Merr.et Perry have been identified.This research provided an experimental reference for the study of the constituents and utilization of Syzygium myrsinifolium(Hance)Merr.et Perry.

文摘Together,the heat island eff ect and air pollution pose a threat to human health and well-being in urban settings.Nature-based solutions such as planting trees are a mitigation strategy to improve outdoor temperatures(thermal comfort)and enhance air quality in urban areas.In this study,outdoor thermal comfort,and particulate matter levels were compared between treeless and treed areas to provide a better understanding of how street trees improve thermal comfort and air quality.Street trees decreased the physiological equivalent temperature from 46.3 to 44.2℃in summer but increased it from 36.4 to 37.5℃in autumn.Air temperature and relative humidity contributed more in summer while wind speed contributed more in autumn.Particulate matter concentrations were negatively correlated with physiological equivalent temperature in summer but not in autumn.The presence of trees decreased concentrations of fi ne particulate matter in hot summer conditions but increased in hot autumn conditions.The presence of trees increased coarse particulate matter in very hot summer conditions in summer and in hot autumn conditions.Overall,the layout of trees in urban street canyons should consider the trade-off between outdoor thermal comfort and air quality improvement.

文摘Virtual machine(VM)consolidation is an effective way to improve resource utilization and reduce energy consumption in cloud data centers.Most existing studies have considered VM consolidation as a bin-packing problem,but the current schemes commonly ignore the long-term relationship between VMs and hosts.In addition,there is a lack of long-term consideration for resource optimization in the VM consolidation,which results in unnecessary VM migration and increased energy consumption.To address these limitations,a VM consolidation method based on multi-step prediction and affinity-aware technique for energy-efficient cloud data centers(MPaAF-VMC)is proposed.The proposed method uses an improved linear regression prediction algorithm to predict the next-moment resource utilization of hosts and VMs,and obtains the stage demand of resources in the future period through multi-step prediction,which is realized by iterative prediction.Then,based on the multi-step prediction,an affinity model between the VM and host is designed using the first-order correlation coefficient and Euclidean distance.During the VM consolidation,the affinity value is used to select the migration VM and placement host.The proposed method is compared with the existing consolidation algorithms on the PlanetLab and Google cluster real workload data using the CloudSim simulation platform.Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve significant improvement in reducing energy consumption,VM migration costs,and service level agreement(SLA)violations.

文摘There is growing empirical evidence that certain types of chemotherapy and phototherapy trigger immunogenic cell death and enhance the therapeutic anticancer efficacy of genetic immunotherapy. However, the main challenge is spatiotemporally co-delivering different drugs to maximize the therapeutic index of the combination therapy. In this study, a drug delivery system(HTCP-Au/shPD-L1/DOX) was designed with a polysaccharide-wrapped shell and a condensed DNA core. To construct the HTCP-Au vector, dodecyl side chains with a polyethylenimine(PEI) head were grafted onto hyaluronic acid, and Au NPs were grafted via Au-S bonds. During drug loading, PEI arrested shRNA plasmid DNA targeting programmed cell death ligand 1(shPD-L1) via electrostatic interactions. It also formed a PEI-DNA core that was automatically enclosed when aliphatic hydrocarbons pulled the hyaluronic acid backbone. A hydrophobic interlayer consisting of dodecyl bridge chains between the PEI-DNA core and the hyaluronic acid shell was required to accommodate hydrophobic doxorubicin. In vitro and in vivo assays demonstrated that this core-shell drug delivery system could efficiently load and transport three different drugs and effectively target tumors. Moreover, it could activate the immune system, thereby providing promising therapeutic efficacy against tumor growth and metastasis.

文摘The APETALA2/ethylene response factor(AP2/ERF)transcription factor(TF)superfamily plays an important regulatory role in the signal transduction of plant responses to various biotic and abiotic stresses,including low temperature.RAV is a subfamily of the AP2/ERF TF family,and its members contain B3 DNA binding and AP2 DNA binding domains.RAV gene family members have been studied in many species,but little is known about their function in tea plants(Camellia sinensis).In this study,seven RAV genes were identified from the tea plant genome database and named CsRAV1-7.Based on phylogenetic analysis,the CsRAV genes were classified into three groups,with genes in the same subgroup exhibiting similar structures and conserved motifs.Out of the seven genes,CsRAV7 was the most distinct and contained a large number of motifs and the longest coding region.Moreover,analysis of cis-acting elements indicated that CsRAVs are likely responsive to both abiotic stress and phytohormones.In addition,quantitative RT-PCR analysis revealed that most CsRAV genes were differentially expressed under cold stress and exogenous MeJA application as both individual and combined treatments.Only CsRAV7 was induced in all six different treatments,suggesting that it may play a key role in JA-mediated cold stress responses in tea plants.

文摘Multiple sclerosis(MS)is an immune-mediated disease in the central nervous system thatis characterized by demyelination,axonal degeneration,and progressive neurological disability and is so far incurable.Current medications are predominantly immunetargeted but fail to prevent disease progression due to their inability to actively promote remyelination.Small molecules have been reported to promote myelin regeneration but their therapeutic efficacy is limited by insufficient immune modulation.Thus,the strategies achieving both immunomodulation and active myelin regeneration are highly desired.Here,we investigated a combination therapy(CT)for MS designed to simultaneously modulate immune responses and promote oligodendrocyte precursor cell differentiation and in situ remyelination in an experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis mouse model.Remarkably,CT suppressed acute inflammatory activity,activated the signaling pathways for myelin development,induced the expression of myelin-related genes,and significantly promoted remyelination and the recovery of motor performance.Furthermore,a reduced immunomodulator dosage or shorter treatment duration with small-molecule drugs achieved comparable symptom reversal.Our findings demonstrate the potential of CT to address complex pathobiology and lay a foundation for developing novel therapeutic strategies for MS.
文摘Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic factors and to evaluate the impact of adjuvant therapy on clinical outcome for early-stage cervical cancer. Methods: The clinical-pathological data of all 1,335 patients with the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) Ib-[Ia cervical cancer treated with primary radical surgery at the Chinese National Cancer Center between May 2007 and Dec 2013 were retrospectively reviewed. The median follow-up was 70 months. Results: Of all the patients, 61.6% of the cases received adjuvant therapy, with 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) of 92.1% and 5-year overall survival (OS) of 95.0%. In multivariate analysis, differentiation of G3 (P〈0.05), lymph node metastasis (LNM, P〈0.05) and lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI, P〈0.05) were independent predictors for OS, while LNM (P〈0.05), deep stroma invasion (DSI, P〈0.05) and LVSI (P〈0.05) were independent factors for DFS. The samples were stratified by histologic type, and cervical squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) was found to share the same independent factors except for differentiation of OS. As to patients with cervical adenocarcinoma/adenosquamons carcinoma (AC/ASC), differentiation was the independent predictor of OS (P〈0.05); and LVSI of DFS (P〈0.05). Of 236 patients with high-risk factors, there was no significant difference in survival between concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT, n=195), radiotherapy (RT, n=24), and chemotherapy (CT, n=17). Among the 190 patients with LNM who underwent CCRT, 124 cases showed improved DFS after sequential CT (P=0.118), with a recurrence rate decrease of 14%, though the difference was not statistically significant. Patients with single intermediate-risk factors like DSI or LVSI were found to partially benefit from adjuvant therapy, but the difference was not statistically significant. Conclusions: LNM, LVSI, DSI and differentiation were found to be independent prognostic factors for operable cervical cancer. Aggressive postoperative adjuvant therapy based on single risk factors in Chinese National Cancer Center could benefit survival. CCRT+CT outperformed CCRT in high-risk patients. For patients with single non-high-risk factor, the role of adjuvant therapy needs to be further discussed.

文摘Integrated gasification fuel cells(IGFCs)integrating high-temperature solid oxide fuel cell technology with CO_(2)capture processes represents highly-efficient power systems with negligible CO_(2)emissions.Flame burning with pure oxygen is an ideal method for fuel cell exhaust gas treatment,and this report describes experimental and numerical studies regarding an oxy-combustor for treating the exhaust gas of a 10 kW IGFC system anode.The applied simulation method was verified based on experiments,and the key performance indices of the combustor were studied under various conditions.It was determined that 315 K was the ideal condensation temperature to obtain flame stability.Under these pure oxygen flame burning conditions,CO was almost completely converted,and the dry mole fraction of CO_(2)after burning was C 0.958 when there was up to 5%excess O_(2).Overall,5%excess O_(2)was recommended to maximize CO_(2)capture and promote other environmental considerations.Additionally,the optimal tangential fuel jet angle to control the liner temperature was approximately 25°.The total fuel utilization had to be high enough to maintain the oxygen flame temperature of the anode exhaust gas below 1800 K to ensure that the system was environmentally friendly.The results presented herein have great value for designing IGFCs coupled with CO_(2)capture systems.

文摘Abstract Here,we provide a status update of an integrated gasification fuel cell(IGFC)power-generation system being developed at the National Institute of Clean-and-Low-Carbon in China at the megawatt thermal(MWth)scale.This system is designed to use coal as fuel to produce syngas as a first step,similar to that employed for the integrated gasification combined cycle.Subsequently,the solid-oxide fuel-cell(SOFC)system is used to convert chemical energy to electricity directly through an electrochemical reaction without combustion.This system leads to higher efficiency as compared with that from a traditional coal-fired power plant.The unreacted fuel in the SOFC system is transported to an oxygencombustor to be converted to steam and carbon dioxide(CO_(2)).Through a heat-recovery system,the steam is condensed and removed,and CO_(2) is enriched and captured for sequestration or utilization.Comprehensive economic analyses for a typical IGFC system was performed and the results were compared with those for a supercritical pulverized coal-fired power plant.The SOFC stacks selected for IGFC development were tested and qualified under hydrogen and simulated coal syngas fuel.Experimental results using SOFC stacks and thermodynamic analyses indicated that the control of hydrogen/CO ratio of syngas and steam/CO ratio is important to avoid carbon deposition with the fuel pipe.A 20-kW SOFC unit is under development with design power output of 20 kW and DC efficiency of 50.41%.A 100 kW-level subsystem will consist of 6920-kW power-generation units,and the MWth IGFC system will consist of 59100 kWlevel subsystems.

文摘With economic incentives and interests in fast-growing poplar trees for short-rotation production of fiber and veneer, many new poplar hybrids have been bred and planted in China, but how to match the new poplar clones to suitable sites and maintain their higher growth rates is still not very clear. In this study, the photosynthetic response of poplar leaves at various developmental stages during two seasons (summer and autumn) was explored and mechanistic models for the photosynthesis of poplar leaves at different developmental phases in response photosynthetic active radiation (PAR), temperature, and relatively humidity were established using the optimization software package 1st Opt. Mature poplar leaves in autumn had significantly higher photosynthetic capacity than leaves at other stages and seasons. Based on the models established for poplar leaves at different phases, the main limiting factors for photosynthesis at the research site were high PAR and temperature in the summer and low PAR in the autumn. Our results highlight the importance of selecting suitable sites, pruning and stand density control during the plantation development to maintain higher photosynthetic rates of poplar trees and to establish optimum cultivation patterns for various utilization of poplar plantations.

文摘Zhigancao decoction is a traditional prescription for treating irregular pulse and palpitations in China.As the monarch drug of Zhigancao decoction,the bioactive molecules of licorice against heart diseases remain elusive.We established the HRESIMS-guided method leading to the isolation of three novel bicyclic peptides,glycnsisitins A-C(1-3),with distinctive C-C and C-O-C side-chain-toside-chain linkages from the roots of Glycyrrhiza uralensis(Licorice).Glycnsisitin A demonstrated stronger cardioprotective activity than glycnsisitins B and C in an in vitro model of doxorubicin(DOX)-induced cardiomyocyte injury.Glycnsisitin A treatment not only reduced the mortality of heart failure(HF)mice in a dose-dependent manner but also significantly attenuated DOX-induced cardiac dysfunction and myocardial fibrosis.Gene set enrichment analysis(GSEA)of the differentially expressed genes indicated that the cardioprotective effect of glycnsisitin A was mainly attributed to its ability to maintain iron homeostasis in the myocardium.Mechanistically,glycnsisitin A interacted with transferrin and facilitated its binding to the transferrin receptor(TFRC),which caused increased uptake of iron in cardiomyocytes.These findings highlight the key role of bicyclic peptides as bioactive molecules of Zhigancao decoction for the treatment of HF,and glycnsisitin A constitutes a promising therapeutic agent for the treatment of HF.
文摘Objective:This study aimed to survey the characteristics and treatments of cancer pain in Beijing hospitals,China.Methods:At 20:00 on December 22,2009,there conducted a questionnaire survey in 2238 patients with malignant tumors of 26 hospitals in Beijing,and the survey results were statistically analyzed.Results:The 531 cases in 2238 patients had pained and 121 cases (22.79%) had outbreak pain with one week.At 20:00 on December 22,2009,199 cases (38%) in the above-mentioned 531 pain patients suffered the moderate to severe pain (pain scores ≥ 4).The number of pain (pain scores ≥ 4) patients in the consecutive three days from December 20 to December 22 were 150.Conclusion:In the 531 cancer pain patients of the surveyed hospitals,38% of the patients were not satisfied with the pain control.Doctors believed that the main reason for pain not controlled was the non-standard treatment,but patients considered to be afraid of addiction.

文摘Nuclear receptor corepressor(NCoR1)interacts with various nuclear receptors and regulates the anabolism and catabolism of lipids.An imbalance in lipid/energy homeostasis is also an important factor in obesity and metabolic syndrome development.In this study,we found that the deletion of NCoR1 in intestinal epithelial cells(IECs)mainly activated the nuclear receptor PPARa and attenuated metabolic syndrome by stimulating thermogenesis.The increase in brown adipose tissue thermogenesis was mediated by gut-derived tricarboxylic acid cycle intermediate succinate,whose production was significantly enhanced by PPARa activation in the fed state.Additionally,NCoR1 deletion derepressed intestinal LXR,increased cholesterol excretion,and impaired duodenal lipid absorption by decreasing bile acid hydrophobicity,thereby reversing the possible negative effects of intestinal PPARa activation.Therefore,the simultaneous regulatory effect of intestinal NCoR1 on both lipid intake and energy expenditure strongly suggests that it is a promising target for developing metabolic syndrome treatment.

文摘Protein kinase Cα(PKCα)regulates diverse biological functions of cancer cells and is a promising therapeutic target.However,clinical trials of PKC-targeted therapies have not yielded satisfactory results.Recent studies have also indicated a tumor-suppressive role of PKCs via unclear molecular mechanisms.In this study,we found that PKCαinhibition enhances CD8+T-cell-mediated tumor evasion and abolishes antitumor activity in immunocompetent mice.We further identified PKCαas a critical regulator of programmed cell death-ligand 1(PD-L1)and found that it enhances T-cell-dependent antitumor immunity in breast cancer by interacting with PD-L1 and suppressing PD-L1 expression.We demonstrated that PKCα-mediated PD-L1 phosphorylation promotes PD-L1 degradation throughβtransducin repeat-containing protein.Notably,the efficacy of PKCαinhibitors was intensified by synergizing with anti-PD-L1 mAb therapy to boost antitumor T-cell immunity in vivo.Clinical analysis revealed that PKCαexpression is positively correlated with T-cell function and the interferon-gamma signature in patients with breast cancer.This study demonstrated the antitumor capability of PKCα,identified potential therapeutic strategies to avoid tumor evasion via PKC-targeted therapies,and provided a proof of concept for targeting PKCαin combination with anti-PD-L1 mAb therapy as a potential therapeutic approach against breast cancer,especially TNBC.
文摘In order to study the hydrocarbon-generating potential of Carboniferous-Permian coal shale in Jiyang Depression,geochemistry,petroleum geology and coal geology were applied to study the residual strata distribution of Carboniferous-Permian in Jiyang Depression,organic matter abundance,organic matter types and organic matter maturity of mudstone.The results show that the thickness of the Carboniferous-Permian residual strata in Jiyang Depression is generally 200-800 m,with a maximum thickness of 900 m;the organic matter abundance of coal-bearing shale is good,and it is type III kerogen,which is conducive to gas generation,and the maturity of organic matter reaches a mature-higher maturity stage;the hydrocarbon generation potential of Benxi Formation and Taiyuan Formation is better;Medium to good hydrocarbon source rocks is able to be found in every sag of Shanxi Formation hydrocarbon source rocks,but the scope is limited,and the overall evaluation is still medium.Generally speaking,the Permo-Carboniferous coal-bearing shale in Jiyang Depression has certain shale gas exploration potential.
