The hemodynaics reveals that the severe blockage in an artery due to stenosis generates pressure tangential stress that impacts adversely on the arterial wall downstream to stenosis and weakens the arterial wall. The site of weakened wall in the artery generates post stenotic dilatation. The objective of this paper is to study flow of blood, of non-Newtonian in nature described by Herschel-Bulkley model, in a diseased artery suffering with partly overlapped two stenoses and a dilatation distal to the stenoses. A mathematical model, describing the blood flow, has been derived using Navier-Stokes equations along with the prescribed geometry of the diseased artery. The expressions of velocity profile, resistive impedance to flow and wall shear stress (skin-friction) are derived. The effect of inclination of the vessel on the resistive impedance to flow is discussed along with the effect of rheological and geometrical parameters on the resistive impedance to flow and skin friction.展开更多

In the present research paper we have proposed a new approach that can handle the imperfect knowledge, in a broader way that we will consider the unfavourable case also as the intuitionistic fuzzy logic does. The mediative fuzzy logic is an extensive approach of intuitionistic fuzzy logic, which provides a solution, when there is a contradiction in the expert knowledge for favourable as well as unfavourable cases. The purpose of the present paper is to design a mediative fuzzy inference system based Sugeno-TSK model for the diagnosis of heart disease. Our proposed method is the extension of Sugeno-TSK fuzzy logic controller in the form of Sugeno-TSK mediative fuzzy logic controller.展开更多

Catheterization increases the mean flow resistance in the arterial blood flow and many other complications are associated with the presence of catheter in the artery. Effects of catheter in stenosed artery can be estimated non-invasively by means of hemo-dynamic indicator-WSS, WSSG, volume flow rate and impedance. The effect of slip at the arterial wall, inclination of the artery and magnetic field on the hemodynamic indicators and flow profiles are computed, presented and discussed through graphs.展开更多

Therefore, a multi-dimensional technique including all parameters is required to detect the cause, its proper diagnostic procedure and its prevention. In this present work, a technique has been introduced that seeks to build an implementation for the intelligence system based on neural networks. Moreover, it has been described that how the proposed technique can be used to determine the membership together with the non-membership functions in the intuitionistic environment. The dataset has been obtained from Pima Indians Diabetes Database (PIDD). In this work, a complete diagnostic procedure of diabetes has been introduced with seven layered structural frameworks of an Intuitionistic Neuro Sugeno Fuzzy System (INSFS). The first layer is the input, in which six factors have been taken as an input variable. Subsequently, a neural network framework has been developed by constructing IFN for all the six input variables, and then this input has been fuzzified by using triangular intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. In this work, we have introduced a novel optimization technique for the parameters involved in the INSFS. Moreover, an inference system has also been framed for the neural network known as INFS. The results have also been given in the form of tables, which describe each concluding factor.展开更多

The analytic solutions of momentum and energy equations are obtained. The velocity and temperature profiles are computed. The frictional force at the plate due to viscosity of fluid is estimated in terms of non dimensional skin friction coefficient and heat convection at the plate is estimated in the form of Nusselt number. The effects of physical parameters Prandtl number Pr, Grashof number Gr, Suction parameter S and radiative parameter R on velocity and temperature profiles are analyzed through graphs. The effects of oscillation on the velocity and temperature profiles are shown through 3-D surface plot.展开更多

The heart contraction and subsequent relaxation generate periodic pressure gradient in blood flow and translation in the artery can be represented by Fourier series. Numerical data required for computing Fourier harmonics for the pressure gradient and acceleration in the artery has been simulated from pressure waveform graph and biplanar angiogram. Velocity field has been obtained by solving governing equation using variational Ritz method. The hemodynamic indicators WSS, AWSS, OSI, RRT are derived and computed numerically. The effects of thickness of stenosis, and hematocrit concentration index on these indicators are computed and analyzed through graphs.展开更多
