The main purpose of blasting in open pit mines is to produce the feed for crushing stage with the optimum dimensions from in situ rocks. The size distribution of muck pile indicates the efficiency of blasting pattern to reach the required optimum sizes. Nevertheless, there is no mature model to predict fragmentation distribution to date that can be used in various open pit mines. Therefore, a new framework to evaluate and predict fragmentation distribution is presented based on the image analysis approach. For this purpose, the data collected from Jajarm bauxite mine in Iran were used as the sources in this study. The image analysis process was performed by Split-Desktop software to find out fragmentation distribution, uniformity index and average size of the fragmented rocks. Then, two different approaches including the multivariate regression method and the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory(DEMATEL) technique were incorporated to develop new models of the uniformity index and the average size to improve the Rosin-Rammler function. The performances of the proposed models were evaluated in four blasting operation sites. The results obtained indicate that the regression model possesses a better performance in prediction of the uniformity index and the average size and subsequently the fragmentation distribution in comparison with DEMATEL and conventional Rosin-Rammler models. 展开更多

Purpose: Some topics such as women’s life style and nutrition and using some special medicines during pregnancy have been discussed and demonstrated as effective factors on infant’ health. Based on recommendations in Iranian traditional medicine, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy of pomegranate paste consumed by women during their pregnancy on the neonatal jaundice incidence. Methods: In this single-blinded controlled clinical trial, 80 healthy pregnant women were randomly divided into 2 groups, as treatment and control. The treatment group members added pomegranate paste to their daily diet from the 34th week of the pregnancy to birth, as administered. The levels of neonates’ bilirubin were checked in the 5th day of the delivery. Results: Both the need of phototherapy and the mean level of neonates’ bilirubin in the group fed with pomegranate paste were significantly lesser compared to control group. The number of neonates who were undergone phototherapy in the pomegranate paste receiving group was significantly lesser than that in the control group (P value = 0.029). By measuring the total bilirubin, statically significant difference between the treatment group and the control group was seen (P value = 0.021). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest the possible effect of adding pomegranate paste to pregnant women’s diet on the incidence of neonatal jaundice. 展开更多

Zolpidem, as an imidazopyridine agent, is a widely prescribed drug among practitioners for short-term treatment of insomnia. Nevertheless, there have been a number of cases associated with the adverse effects of the stated drug recently. Many cases of serious complications induced by high dose of zolpidem have been reported. Further to the existing reports of adverse reactions to zolpidem, throughout the current manuscript, another case of zolpidem-induced loss of consciousness is going to be presented. The case had taken 100 mg of zolpidem and afterwards, went into an unknown status of narcolepsy, faint, seizure or transient coma. Overdosing zolpidem and being affected by its central effects, he performed risky actions such as cooking by a gas oven and eating meal while intoxicated. The current case suggests that zolpidem overdose might contribute to loss of consciousness and exhibition of high-risk behaviors. 展开更多
