A fast powerful X-ray transient from possible tidal disruption of a white dwarf

Stars getting close enough to black holes(BHs)can be torn apart by strong tidal forces,producing electromagnetic flares.To date,more than 100 tidal disruption events(TDEs)have been observed,each involving invariably normal gaseous stars whose debris falls onto the BH,sustaining the flares over years.White dwarfs(WDs),which are the most prevalent compact stars and a million times denser-and therefore tougher-than gaseous stars,can only be disrupted by intermediate-mass black holes(IMBHs)of 10^(2)–10^(5) solar masses.WD-TDEs are considered to generate more powerful and short-lived flares,but their evidence has been lacking.Here we report observations of a fast and luminous X-ray transient EP250702a detected by Einstein Probe.Its one-day-long X-ray peak as luminous as 10^(47−49) erg s^(−1) showed strong recurrent flares with hard spectra extending to several tens of MeV gamma-rays,as detected by Fermi/GBM and Konus-Wind,indicating relativistic jet emission.The jet's X-rays dropped sharply from 3×10^(49) erg s^(−1) to around 1044 erg s^(−1) within 20 days(10 days in the source rest frame).These characteristics are inconsistent with any previously known transient phenomena.We suggest that this fast-evolving event over the unprecedentedly short timescale arises likely from disruption of a WD by an IMBH.At late times,a soft component progressively dominates the X-ray spectrum,reaching a luminosity as high as 1044 erg s^(−1),which is consistent with being extreme super-Eddington emission from an accretion disk expected to form in an IMBH-WD TDE.WD-TDEs open a new window for investigating the elusive IMBHs and their surrounding stellar environments,and they are prime sources of gravitational waves in the band of space-based interferometers. 展开更多

The CCHC-type zinc finger motif has numerous biological activities (such as DNA binding and RNA binding) and can also mediate protein-protein interaction. This article gives a primary report about the human ZCCHC9 gene. Protein ZCCHC9 contains four CCHC motifs and is highly conserved in humans, mice, and rats. The whole eDNA sequence of the ZCCHC9 gene has been amplified by PCR and a number of plasmids have been constructed for further study. The results show that ZCCHC9 is localized in the nucleus, and especially concentrated in the nueleolus. It is highly expressed in the brain and testicles of the mouse. This has been confirmed by real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). In situ hybridization of the mouse brain indicates that ZCCHC9 is mainly expressed in the cerebral cortex. Reporter gene assay shows that ZCCHC9 suppresses the transcription activities of NF-kappa B and SRE, and may play roles in the Mitogen-Aetivated Protein Kinase (MAPK) signaling transduetion pathway. 展开更多

[Objectives] To study the effect of "acupressure therapy" on anti-inflammatory mechanism in obesity-induced IR rats. [Methods] 10 rats were randomly selected and fed with normal diet as blank group, and the ... [Objectives] To study the effect of "acupressure therapy" on anti-inflammatory mechanism in obesity-induced IR rats. [Methods] 10 rats were randomly selected and fed with normal diet as blank group, and the remaining 30 rats were fed with high-fat diet for 8 weeks. The obesity-induced IR model was induced and divided into two groups: model group and acupressure group. The acupressure group was treated by "acupressure therapy" three times a week for 6 weeks;the model group was taken 3 times at the same time every week, and the supine binding experiment lasted for 10 min for 6 weeks. Morphological observation was carried out before and after the experiment, mainly observing the general conditions and body weight. After the last intervention, the animals were killed and samples were collected. Western Blot method was used to detect the expression of TNF-α and IL-6 protein in adipose tissue of the three groups. [Results] Compared with the blank group, the expression of TNF-α and IL-6 protein in adipose tissue of the model group increased significantly ( P <0.01);compared with the model group, the expression of TNF-α and IL-6 protein in adipose tissue of the acupressure group decreased significantly ( P <0.01). [Conclusions] After intervening in the obesity-induced IR rats with acupressure method, the status of insulin resistance in obese rats was improved by inhibiting the expression of inflammatory factors. 展开更多

Multi-patch attention Transformer for multivariate long-term time series forecasting of TBM excavation parameters

To address the research gap in multivariable long-term time series forecasting in the field of tunnel boring machine(TBM)and provide long-term insights for decision-making in TBM construction,this paper studies a novel Transformer-based forecasting model.Leveraging a multi-patch attention mechanism,the newly developed multi-patch attention Transformer(MPAT)model is designed to predict long-term trends of multiple TBM operation parameters.The innovation lies in finding the most relevant time delay series of the input series through autocorrelation calculation,and designing a multi-patch attention mechanism to replace the traditional attention mechanism of Transformer,so that the model can capture local and global information of the series and improve the accuracy of long-term prediction of high-frequency and weakly periodic TBM data.Experimental results have shown that MPAT model has a significant effect on capturing TBM data in terms of temporal dependencies.In a case study,we applied MPAT to the Rongjiang Guanbu Water Diversion Project in Guangdong Province and predicted four excavation parameters.The experimental results show that MPAT exhibits accurate predictive ability when the input length is 36 and the outputs are 12,24,48,and 72,respectively.In comparison with some state-of-the-art models,MPAT outperforms MSE by 19.1%,23.6%,36.4%,and 48.3%,respectively.We also discussed the impact of input length and the number of patches on performance,and found that each prediction length has the best input length corresponding to it,and longer inputs don’t represent more accurate predictions.The determination of the number of patches should also depend on the input length,as too many or too few patches can affect the capture of local information in the sequence. 展开更多
