Swelling inhibition and percolation promotion of PQ-10 on weathered crust elution-deposited rare earth ores

Weathered crust elution-deposited rare earth ores(WREOs)are rich in medium and heavy rare earth.In order to improve the in-situ leaching process,which is prone to landslides and poor permeability,cationic hydroxyethyl cellulose(PQ-10)was used as a novel green swelling inhibitor and percolation promoter and was mixed with conventional leaching agent ammonium sulfate((NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4))to form a composite leaching agent to study the performance and mechanism of swelling inhibition and percolation promotion.Adding PQ-10 can inhibit the hydration swelling of WREOs,promote the percolation effect of the leaching agent,improve the rare earth(RE)leaching efficiency,and reduce the im purity aluminum(Al)leaching efficiency.Compared with the conventional leaching agent 2 wt%(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4),the percolation time is reduced by 50%by using the composite leaching agent(0.02 wt%PQ-10+2 wt%(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4)).PQ-10 has positively charged quaternary ammonium groups and hydrophilic group hydroxyl groups,which makes it easy to adsorb on WREOs multiple sites through electrostatic interaction and hydrogen bonding,weakening the electrostatic repulsion between mineral particles,reducing the WREOs interlayer spacing,compressing the double electric layer thickness at the solid-liquid interface,weakening the mineral hydration swelling and increasing the percolation rate.The long carbon chains of the polymer entangle and link the fine mineral particles to agglomerate them,increasing their particle size and reduc ing their hydration dispersion,and preventing blockage of the pe rcolation pores caused by migration of the fine particles through the ore body with the solution.PQ-10 molecules also insert the mine ral interlayer and expulsion of the internal water,further inhibiting the swelling of WREOs.Adding PQ-10 reduces the surface tension of(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4)solution,improving the spreading and spreading ability of the solution,reducing the adhesion work between molecules in the solid-liquid phase and the adhesion work reduction factor.It proves that PQ-10 promotes the percolation effect of the leaching process of WREOs.In addition,PQ-10 expands the leaching pore size and seepage channels,further improving the percolation rate. 展开更多

With the rapid growth of the global population and the increasing demand for healthier diets,improving the nutrient utilization efficiency of staple food crops has become a critical scientific and industrial chal-lenge,prompting innovation in food processing technologies.This review introduces first the common nutritional challenges in the processing of staple food crops,followed by the comprehensive examination of research aiming to enhance the nutritional quality of staple food crop-based foods through innovative processing technologies,including microwave(MW),pulsed electric field(PEF),ultrasound,modern fer-mentation technology,and enzyme technology.Additionally,soybean processing is used as an example to underscore the importance of integrating innovative processing technologies for optimizing nutrient utilization in staple food crops.Although these innovative processing technologies have demonstrated a significant potential to improve nutrient utilization efficiency and enhance the overall nutritional pro-file of staple food crop-based food products,their current limitations must be acknowledged and addressed in future research.Fortunately,advancements in science and technology will facilitate pro-gress in food processing,enabling both the improvement of existing techniques as well as the develop-ment of entirely novel methodologies.This work aims to enhance the understanding of food practitioners on the way processing technologies may optimize nutrient utilization,thereby fostering innovation in food processing research and synergistic multi-technological strategies,ultimately providing valuable references to address global food security challenges. 展开更多

Copper phthalocyanine and ionic liquid functionalized carbon nitride for catalytic cycloaddition of carbon dioxide

The advancement of efficient and environmentally sustainable heterogeneous catalysts that facilitate the transformation of carbon dioxide(CO_(2))into chemicals has gained considerable attention.In this study,we synthesized a carbon nitride(C_(3)N_(4))functionalized with copper phthalocyanine(CuPc)and ionic liquid(IL)(C_(3)N_(4)-CuPc-IL)and employed it as an efficient catalyst enabling the cycloaddition of CO_(2)with epoxides.The presence of urea/urethane groups,Cu^(2+)ions,and I−ions that can effectively activate and open the epoxide ring was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),ultraviolet-visible(UV-vis)spectroscopy,thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),powder X-ray diffraction(XRD),and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Meanwhile,the multiple nitrogen-containing structures(copper phthalocyanine,C_(3)N_(4),and quaternary ammonium cationic structures)facilitated the adsorption and activation of CO_(2).Consequently,C_(3)N_(4)-CuPc-IL demonstrated high catalytic efficiency for the cycloaddition between CO_(2)and epoxides.Specifically,with 5.0 wt.%loading of C_(3)N_(4)-CuPc-IL catalyst under 2.0 MPa and 120°C for 12 h,the yield of cyclic carbonate reached 98%.Additionally,the prepared catalyst demonstrated excellent structural stability and recyclability,alongside high catalytic activity toward various epoxides.Density functional theory(DFT)calculations indicated that the ring-opening reaction represents the rate-determining step in the C_(3)N_(4)-CuPc-IL catalyzed cycloaddition reaction,with an energy barrier of only 24.2 kcal/mol.The impressive catalytic performance of C_(3)N_(4)-CuPc-IL confirmed the synergistic catalytic effect of hydrogen bond donor groups,Lewis acidic sites,and ionic active sites in the CO_(2)cycloaddition reaction,providing theoretical guidance for the design of CO_(2)conversion catalysts. 展开更多

To solve the problems of the long development period,low mass transfer efficiency and high impurity conte nt in the in-situ leaching process of weathe red crust elution-deposited rare earth ores(WCE-DREO),cationic hydroxyethyl cellulose(PQ-10)was composited with conventional leaching agent ammonium sulfate((NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4))to form a novel composite leaching agent.The effects of PQ-10 concentration,leaching temperature and leaching flow rate of the composite leaching agent on the leaching kinetics and mass transfer processes of rare earth(RE)and aluminum(Al)were investigated.Compared to the single leaching agent(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4),the composite leaching agent(2 wt%(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4)+0.02 wt%PQ-10)can reduce the RE leaching equilibrium time from 465 to 130 min and increase the RE leaching efficiency and decrease the Al leaching efficiency.It also facilitates the leaching process of WCE-DREO by increasing the peak concentrations of RE and Al,reducing the theoretical tower plate height(HETP)and improving the leaching mass transfer efficiency.It is indicated that PQ-10 can promote the leaching of WCE-DREO.The leaching process of the composite leaching system conforms to the diffusion kinetic control model.When the PQ-10 concentration is in the range of 0.005 wt%-0.020 wt%,the reaction orders of RE and Al are 0.73 and 0.54,respectively,which shows a positive effect on the leaching velocity;when the PQ-10 concentration is in the range of 0.030 wt%-0.060 wt%,the reaction orders of RE and Al are-1.16 and-0.75,respectively,which show a negative effect on the leaching velocity.In the range of 10-50℃,the apparent activation energies of RE and Al are 15.02 and 17.31 kJ/mol,respectively,and the higher the leaching temperature,the smaller the HETP and the higher the leaching velocity and mass transfer efficiency.The increase in leaching flow rate contributes to the increase in the longitudinal diffusion velocity of the leaching agent within WCE-DREO,causing a shorter time for RE and Al to reach leaching equilibrium.In addition,the flow rate and HETP are consistent with the Van Deemter equation.At a flow rate of 0.8 mL/min,HETP was minimized and the optimal mass transfer efficiencies is achieved for RE and Al. 展开更多

Superior Energy Storage Performance in Crosslinked Binary Polymers at High Temperatures Via Confnement Effect

High-temperature performance of energy storage dielectric polymers is desired for many electronics and electrical applications,but the trade-off between energy density and temperature stability remains fundamentally challenging.Here,we report a general material design strategy to enhance energy storage performance at high temperatures by crosslinking a polar polymer and a high glass-transition temperature polymer as a crosslinked binary blend.Such crosslinked binary polymers display a temperature-insensitive and high energy density behavior of about6.2~8.5 J cm^(-3) up to 110℃,showing a significant enhancement in thermal resistant properties and consequently outperforming most of the other ferroelectric polymers.Further microstructural investigations reveal that the improved thermal stability stems from the confinement effect on conformational motion of the crosslinking network,which is evidenced by the increased rigid amorphous fraction and steady intermolecular distance of amorphous regions from temperature-dependent X-ray diffraction results.Our findings provide a general and straightforward strategy to attain temperature-stable,high-energy-density polymer-based dielectrics for energy storage capacitors. 展开更多

Postoperative recurrence and metastasis are still the main challenges of cancer therapy.Tumor vaccines that induce potent and long-lasting immune activation have great potential for postoperative cancer therapy.However,the clinical effects of therapeutic tumor vaccines are unsatisfactory due to immune escape caused by the lack of immunogenicity after surgery and the local fibrosis barrier of the tumor which limits effector T cell infiltration.To overcome these challenges,we developed an injectable hydrogelbased tumor vaccine,RATG,which contains whole tumor cell lysates(TCL),Toll-like receptor(TLR)7/8 agonist imiquimod(R837)and an antifibrotic drug ARV-825.TCL and R837 were loaded onto the hydrogel to achieve a powerful reservoir of antigens and adjuvants that induced potent and lasting immune activation.More importantly,ARV-825 could be slowly and sustainably released in the tumor resection cavity to downregulateα-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA)and collagen levels,disintegrate fibrosis barriers and promote T cell infiltration after immune activation to reduce immune escape.In addition,ARV-825 also directly acted on the remaining tumor cells to degrade bromodomain-containing protein 4(BRD4)which is a critical epigenetic reader overexpressed in tumor cells,inhibiting tumor cell migration and invasion.Therefore,our injectable hydrogel created a powerful immune niche in postoperative tumor resection cavity,significantly enhancing the efficacy of tumor vaccines.Our strategy potently activates the immune system and disintegrates the fibrotic barrier of residual tumors with immune microenvironment remodeling in situ,showing anti-recurrence and anti-metastatic effects,and provides a new paradigm for postoperative treatment of tumors. 展开更多

Children’s psychological adjustment and tolerance are generally lower than adults, and it is difficult for children to seek reasonable help after suffering traumatic events. Children who experience a traumatic event have an even higher rate of PTSD than adults, considering problems with their symptom presentation. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder can hinder children’s development of healthy psychology such as independence and autonomy in the future, and can lead to a series of psychological disorders in adulthood. 目的:探讨造血干细胞移植(hematopoietic stem cell transplantation,HSCT)对老年髓系肿瘤患者生存结局的影响。方法:回顾性分析2018年1月至2023年5月于南方医科大学附属珠江医院54例接受HSCT且年龄≥55岁髓系肿瘤患者的治疗结局。结果... 目的:探讨造血干细胞移植(hematopoietic stem cell transplantation,HSCT)对老年髓系肿瘤患者生存结局的影响。方法:回顾性分析2018年1月至2023年5月于南方医科大学附属珠江医院54例接受HSCT且年龄≥55岁髓系肿瘤患者的治疗结局。结果:54例患者中急性髓系白血病(acute myeloid leukemia,AML)患者45例,骨髓增生异常综合征患者9例,中位年龄57.5(55.0~68.0)岁。53例成功造血重建,中性粒细胞植入中位时间为13(8~24)天,血小板植入中位时间为15(9~75)天。急性移植物抗宿主病(graft-versus-host diseas,GVHD)累积发生率23.3%,3年慢性GVHD累积发生率24.6%。中位随访时间28.2个月,3年累积复发率(cumulative relapse rates,CIR)18.0%,3年非复发死亡率28.3%。3年无复发生存(relapse-free survival,RFS)率为58.2%,3年总生存(overall survival,OS)率为56.5%。结论:HSCT是老年髓系肿瘤患者获得长期生存的有效、安全的治疗手段。 展开更多

AIM To evaluate the potential of RA-538 genetherapy for gastric carcinoma.METHODS Human gastric carcinoma cell lineSGC7901 treated with Ad-RA538 or Ad-LacZ wereanalysed by X-gal stain,MTT,DNA ladder,Tunel,flow cytometric analysis,PCR,andWestern Blot in vitro.The tumorigenicity andexperimental therapy in nude mice model wereassessed in vivo.RESULTS Ad-LacZ could efficiently transferthe LacZ gene into SGC7901 cells.X-gal-positivecells at MOI 25,50,100,and 200 were 90%,100%,100%,and 100% respectively.Ad-RA538could strongly inhibit cell growth and inducedapoptosis in SGC7901 cells.The proliferation ofthe Ad-RA538-infected SGC7901 cells wasreduced by 76.3%.The mechanism of killing ofgastric carcinoma cells by Ad-RA538 was foundto be apoptosis by DNA ladder,Tunel and flowcytometric analysis.The tumorigenicity in nudemice using Ad-RA538 showed that all three micefailed to form tumor from 7 to 30 days comparedwith Ad-LacZ and parent SGC7901 cells.Experimental therapy on the nude mice modelbearing subcutaneous tumor of SGC790| cells showed that intratumor instillation of Ad-RA538inhibited the growth of the tumors.Ad-RA538-treated tumors were inhibited by 60.66 %,compared with that of the tumor injected withAd-LacZ and mock.CONCLUSION The expression of Ad-RA538 can inhibit growth and induce apoptosis of gastric cancer cell in vitro and in vivo. AIM: To study the main environmental and lifestyle factors that account for the regional differences in esophageal cancer (EC) risk in low- and high-risk areas of Jiangsu Province, China. METHODS: Since 2003, a population-based casecontrol study has been conducted simultaneously in lowrisk (Ganyu County) and high-risk (Dafeng County) areas of Jiangsu Province, China. Using identical protocols and pre-tested standardized questionnaire, following written informed consent, eligible subjects were inquired about their detail information on potential determinants of EC, including demographic information, socio-economic status, living conditions, disease history, family cancer history, smoking, alcohol drinking, dietary habits, frequency, amount of food intake, etc. Conditional logistic regression with maximum likelihood estimation was used to obtain Odds ratio (OR) and 95 % confidence interval (95% CI), after adjustment for potential confounders. RESULTS: In the preliminary analysis of the ongoing study, we recruited 291 pairs of cases and controls in Dafeng and 240 pairs of cases and controls in Ganyu, respectively. In both low-risk and high-risk areas, EC was inversely associated with socio-economic status, such as level of education, past economic status and body mass index. However, this disease was more frequent among those who had a family history of cancer or encountered misfortune in the past 10 years. EC was also more frequent among smokers, alcohol drinkers and fast eaters. Furthermore, there was a geographic variation of the associations between smoking, alcohol drinking and EC risk despite the similar prevalence of these risk factors in both low-risk and high-risk areas. The dose-response relationship of smoking and smoking related variables, such as age of the first smoking, duration and amount were apparent only in high-risk areas. On the contrary, a dose-response relationship on the effect of alcohol drinking on EC was observed only in low-risk areas. CONCLUSION: The environmental risk factors, together with genetic factors and gene-environmental interactions might be the main reason for this high-risk gradient in .liangsu Province, China. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the antioxidant and immunomodulatory activities of a unique polysaccharide from the medicinal fungus Flammulina velutipes in vitro.METHODS: Using water extraction and alcohol precipitation, crude polysaccharides were obtained. After purification by DEAE-cellulose 52 ion exchange chromatography and Sephacryl S-300 HR gel filtration chromatography, High performance liquid chromatography equipped with evaporative light-scattering detector, Infrared radiation and Nuclear magnetic resonance were used to evaluate the structure of the polysaccharide. Its immunomodulatory activity was measured by examining the production of nitric oxide(NO) and cytokine secretion, and via lymphocyte proliferation experiments. Its effects on the scavenging activities of hydroxyl radical, superoxide anion and reducing power were also measured.RESULTS: A water-soluble polysaccharide, Flammulina velutipes polysaccharide I-A(FVP I-A), was obtained with a molecular mass of 8.14×104Da determined by high performance gel permeation chromatography. An in vitro antioxidant assay indicated that FVP I-A could scavenge hydroxyl radical, superoxide anion and possessed reducing power and could largely promote NO production and augment the interleukin-1β, interleukin-6, and tumor necrosis factor-α secretion by RAW264.7 macrophages(P<0.05). Moreover, FVP I-A could promote lymphocyte proliferation(P<0.05), and synergistically enhance the augmentation of the proliferation of mouse lymphocytes by concanavalin A and lipopolysaccharides(P<0.01, P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The FVP I-A obtained from Flammulina velutipes possessed antioxidant activity and could enhance non-specific and specific immune responses in vitro. 展开更多

Objective: To assess the incidence, mortality and survival status of female breast cancer in Jiangsu province of China. Methods: Population-based cancer registry data in Jiangsu province were collected during 2003-2011. Crude rates, age-specific rates, age-standardized rates and annual percent changes of incidence and mortality were calculated to describe the epidemiologic characteristics and time trends. Patients diagnosed from 2003 to 2005 were chosen for analyzing the survival status of breast cancer. Results: From 2003 to 2011, 17,605 females were diagnosed with breast cancer and 4,883 died in selected registry areas in Jiangsu province. The crude incidence rate was 25.18/100,000, and the age-standardized rates by Chinese population (ASRC) and by world population (ASRW) were 19.03/100,000 and 17.92/100,000, respectively. During the same period, the crude mortality rate was 6.98/100,000 and the ASRC and ASRW were 4.93/100,000 and 4.80/100,000, respectively. From 2003 to 2011, the incidence and mortality increased with annual percent change of 11.37% and 5.78%, respectively. For survival analysis, 1,392 patients in 7 areas were identified in 2003-2005 and finished 5 years of follow-up. Survival rates were found to decrease with survival years, the 5-year observed survival rate was 45.9% and the relative survival rate was 52.0%. We also found that the survival rate varied across the province, which was lower in the north and higher in the south of Jiangsu province. Conclusions: Breast cancer has become a significant public health problem in Jiangsu province and China. More resources should be invested in primary prevention, earlier diagnosis and better health services in order to increase survival rates among Chinese females. 展开更多

Gas Hydrate is usually formed during the transportation and treatment of oil and gas, resulting in the plugging of gas pipeline and equipment. Three thermodynamic calculation formulas are analyzed to deal with this problem. The lowering of the freezing point of the inhibitors △T is used to calculate the formation temperature of natural gas hydrates. This is considered to be a good approach because it is not limited by what kind and what concentration of inhibitors one uses. Besides, the rate of lowering of the freezing point could be easily measured. The result of testing methanol and mono-ethylene glycol in a reactor shows that adding 10% inhibitors to the reactor can prevent the hydrates formation. Kinetic inhibitors are favored in the present research. They are divided into two types, polymer and surface-active agents. Their characteristics, mechanisms, and application prospect are separately discussed. Polymer inhibitors exhibit better efficiency. The result of field application of VC-713 inhibiter is also given in this article. In practice, the combination of thermodynamic inhibitors and kinetic inhibitors gives better result. 展开更多

The Altyn Tagh fault is the northern boundary of Tibetan Plateau. As one of the most well-known strike-slip fault in the world, great achievements on tectonic deformation and Late Qua- ternary slip rate have been made. However, there is a long-lasting debate on whether the Altyn Tagh fault extends into the Jinta Basin or even eastward. In this paper, we use satellite image interpretation, field investigation, trench excavation, and optical stimulated luminescence dating to study newly found NS striking scarps in the eastern end of Jinta Nan Shan. The results are as follows: firstly, a group of normal faults develop on terrace T2 of Heihe River, the total length amounts to -40 km, total scarp height is 304-5 m; secondly, four paleoseismic events have been interpreted from three trenches, approximate ages of events are 79.97±19.14 ka BP, 62.55±13.10~55.41±10.77 ka BP, before 16.89±2.08 ka BP, 8.52±1.49 ka BP, respectively; thirdly, just like NS normal faults in the western end of Altyn Tagh fault, the newly found NS extensional faults are likely the terminating tectonics of the eastern end of Altyn Tagh fault, the large Altyn Tagh fault may end in the eastern end of Jinta Nan Shan. 展开更多

Sea fog detection with remote sensing images is a challenging task. Driven by the different image characteristics between fog and other types of clouds, such as textures and colors, it can be achieved by using image processing methods. Currently, most of the available methods are datadriven and relying on manual annotations. However, because few meteorological observations and buoys over the sea can be realized, obtaining visibility information to help the annotations is difficult. Considering the feasibility of obtaining abundant visible information over the land and the similarity between land fog and sea fog, we propose an unsupervised domain adaptation method to bridge the abundant labeled land fog data and the unlabeled sea fog data to realize the sea fog detection. We used a seeded region growing module to obtain pixel-level masks from roughlabels generated by the unsupervised domain adaptation model. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method achieves an accuracy of sea fog recognition up to 99.17%, which is nearly 3% higher than those vanilla methods. 展开更多

SZ and SA composite sol were prepared by sol–gel method. SZ and SA composite oxide coatings were prepared on the surface of Zr H(in situ oxidized or not) in turns by dip-coating and heat treatment. Hydrogen permeation of Zr Hwith and without composite oxide coating was compared.Hydrogen desorption experiments in thermal vacuum show that hydrogen permeation resistance of SA composite oxide coating is better than that of SZ, to a certain extent,which could decrease hydrogen thermal loss. Experimental results in the working condition show that the SA composite oxide coating can not only prevent hydrogen permeation, but also retard contact and reaction between COand Zr Hmatrix, which could mitigate excessive oxidation of in situ oxide film. Differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry(DSC–TG) analysis was performed to investigate the decomposition behavior of SA and SZ liquid sol in heat treatment process. X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) analysis were employed to characterize the phase composition,surface and cross-section morphology of the coatings. 展开更多

Semiconducting conjugated polymer nanoparticles(SPNs)represent an emerging class of phototheranostic materi-als with great promise for cancer treatment.In this report,low-bandgap electron donoracceptor(DA)-conjugated SPNs with sur-face cloaked by red blood cell membrane(RBCM)are developed for highly e ective photoacoustic imaging and photothermal therapy.The resulting RBCM-coated SPN(SPN@RBCM)displays remarkable near-infrared light absorption and good photosta-bility,as well as high photothermal conver-sion e ciency for photoacoustic imaging and photothermal therapy.Particularly,due to the small size(<5 nm),SPN@RBCM has the advantages of deep tumor penetration and rapid clearance from the body with no appreciable toxicity.The RBCM endows the SPNs with prolonged systematic circulation time,less reticuloendothelial system uptake and reduced immune-recognition,hence improving tumor accumulation after intravenous injection,which provides strong photoacoustic signals and exerts excellent photothermal therapeutic e ects.Thus,this work provides a valuable paradigm for safe and highly e cient tumor pho-toacoustic imaging and photothermal therapy for further clinical translation. 展开更多
