Anomaly detection plays an important role in ensuring the data quality in wireless sensor networks(WSNs).The main objective of the paper is to design a light-weight and distributed algorithm to detect the data collected from WSNs effectively.This is achieved by proposing a distributed anomaly detection algorithm based on ensemble isolation principle.The new method offers distinctive advantages over the existing methods.Firstly,it does not require any distance or density measurement,which reduces computational burdens significantly.Secondly,considering the spatial correlation characteristic of node deployment in WSNs,local sub-detector is built in each sensor node,which is broadcasted simultaneously to neighbor sensor nodes.A global detector model is then constructed by using the local detector model and the neighbor detector model,which possesses a distributed nature and decreases communication burden.The experiment results on the labeled dataset confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

A number of image processing techniques have... Life science research aims to continuously improve the quality and standard of human life. One of the major challenges in this area is to maintain food safety and security. A number of image processing techniques have been used to investigate the quality of food products. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to effectively segment connected grains so that each of them can be inspected in a later processing stage. One family of the existing segmentation methods is based on the idea of watersheding, and it has shown promising results in practice. However, due to the over-segmentation issue, this technique has experienced poor performance in various applications, such as inhomogeneous background and connected targets. To solve this problem, we present a combination of two classical techniques to handle this issue. In the first step, a mean shift filter is used to eliminate the inhomogeneous background,where entropy is used to be a converging criterion. Secondly, a color gradient algorithm is used in order to detect the most significant edges, and a marked watershed transform is applied to segment cluttered objects out of the previous processing stages. The proposed framework is capable of compromising among execution time, usability, efficiency and segmentation outcome in analyzing ring die pellets. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach is effectiveness and robust. 展开更多

The IEEE 802.15.4a standard provides a framework for low-data-rate communication systems,typically sensor networks.In this paper,we established a realistic environment for the time delay characteristic of industrial network based on IEEE 802.15.4a.Several sets of practical experiments are conducted to study its various features,including the effects of 1) numeral wireless nodes,2) numeral data packets,3) data transmissions with different upper-layer protocols,4) physical distance between nodes,and 5) adding and reducing the number of the wireless nodes.The results show that IEEE 802.15.4a is suitable for some industrial applications that have more relaxed throughput requirements and time-delay.Some issues that could degrade the network performance are also discussed. 展开更多

This paper presents a multiple robots formation manoeuvring and its collision avoidance strategy. The direction priority sequential selection algorithm is employed to achieve the raw path, and a new algorithm is then proposed to calculate the turning-compliant waypoints supporting the multi-robot formation manoeuvre. The collision avoidance strategy based on the formation control is presented to translate the collision avoidance problem into the stability problem of the formation. The extension-decomposition-aggregation scheme is next applied to solve the formation control problem and subsequently achieve the collision avoidance during the formation manoeuvre. Simulation study finally shows that the collision avoidance problem can be conveniently solved if the stability of the constructed formation including unidentified objects can be satisfied. 展开更多
