This work presents a chemical kinetic analysis of different species involved in nitrogen-oxygen mixed gas induced by stationary corona discharge at room temperature and atmospheric pressure.This study takes into account twenty different chemical species participating in one hundred and seventy selected chemical reactions.The reaction rate coefficients are taken from the literature,and the density is analyzed by the continuity equation without the diffusion term.A large number of investigations considered the removal of NOx showing the effects of N,O and O3 radicals.The aim of the present simulation is to complete these studies by analysing various plasma species under different reduced electric fields in the range of 100-200 Td(1 Td=10-21 V·m^2).In particular,we analyze the time evolution of depopulation(10^-9-10^-3s)of NOx.We have found that the depopulation rate of NO and NO2 is substantially affected by the rise of reduced electric field as it grows from 100 Td to 200 Td.This allows us to ascertain the important role played by the reduced electric field. 展开更多

This work presents an optical method using the Mach–Zehnder interferometer. We especially diagnose a pure nitrogen gas subjected to a point to plane corona discharge, and visualize the density spatial map. The interelectrode distance equals6 mm and the variation of the optical path has been measured at different pressures: 220 Torr, 400 Torr, and 760 Torr.The interferograms are recorded with a CCD camera, and the numerical analysis of these interferograms is assured by the inverse Abel transformation. The nitrogen density is extracted through the Gladstone–Dale relation. The obtained results are in close agreement with values available in the literature. 展开更多

Calculation of the net radiation emitted by a CH4-Ar mixture, in a temperature range of 5,000-30,000 K with the assumption of local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE), is conducted. Continuum and line emissions are taken into account. The radiative transfer of each line is calculated by means of an escape factor depending on the shape and broadening of the line. Assuming a cylindrical, homogeneous, and isothermal plasma, the net emission coefficient is calculated for different pressures between 1 atm and 10 atm and arc radia of 0 mm to 1 mm. Results show that the argon presence in the CH4-Ar mixture has a significant effect on the total radiation emitted for the temperature above 17,000 K and the results for pure argon agree with those of BAUDER and EVANS. 展开更多

In this work, we simulate numerically the thermal effects in nitrogen at atmospheric pressure caused by a negative corona DC discharge of low current. A mathematical function that simulates the injection of the thermal transfer in gas is proposed. The simulated discharge is of a negative point to plane mass type, with an interelectrode distance of 12 mm and a symmetry about the axis of discharge. The spatial and temporal evolution of neutrals is analyzed based upon the equations of continuity, momentum and energy in a cylindrical geometry. For the geometry of the system, the FCT (flux corrected transport) procedure was adopted. 展开更多

The paper presents a simulation model of the negative corona discharge in N2 under various pressures. The simulated discharge is of a negative point-to-plane mass type, with an inter-electrode separation distance of 20 mm and a symmetry about the axis of discharge. This simulation investigates the behavior of the neutral density and temperature for different pressures in the range of 0.1-10.0 bar. The spatial and temporal evolution of the neutral gas is analyzed based upon the equations of continuity, momentum and energy in a two-dimensional cylindrical geometry model. For that geometry of the system, the FCT (Flux Corrected Transport) technique was adopted. The results show that the pressure plays a significant role of the neutrals dynamics. 展开更多
