Understanding the complex plasma dynamics in ultra-intense relativistic laser-solid interactions is of fundamental importance for applications of laser-plasma-based particle accelerators,the creation of high-energy-de...Understanding the complex plasma dynamics in ultra-intense relativistic laser-solid interactions is of fundamental importance for applications of laser-plasma-based particle accelerators,the creation of high-energy-density matter,understanding planetary science,and laser-driven fusion energy.However,experimental efforts in this regime have been limited by the lack of accessibility of over-critical densities and the poor spatiotemporal resolution of conventional diagnostics.Over the last decade,the advent of femtosecond brilliant hard X-ray free-electron lasers(XFELs)has opened new horizons to overcome these limitations.Here,for the first time,we present full-scale spatiotemporal measurements of solid-density plasma dynamics,including preplasma generation with tens of nanometer scale length driven by the leading edge of a relativistic laser pulse,ultrafast heating and ionization at the main pulse arrival,the laser-driven blast wave,and transient surface return current-induced compression dynamics up to hundreds of picoseconds after interaction.These observations are enabled by utilizing a novel combination of advanced X-ray diagnostics including small-angle X-ray scattering,resonant X-ray emission spectroscopy,and propagation-based X-ray phase-contrast imaging simultaneously at the European XFEL-HED beamline station.展开更多
As the most abundant aromatic bio-based polymer,lignin has great potential as a sustainable feedstock for building crosslinked thermoset polymers as bio-based adhesives.However,the potential of hardwood kraft lignin(H...As the most abundant aromatic bio-based polymer,lignin has great potential as a sustainable feedstock for building crosslinked thermoset polymers as bio-based adhesives.However,the potential of hardwood kraft lignin(HKL)is limited due to its poor crosslinking reactivity.Hence,for the first time,the present study reports the facile oxidation of HKL involving a redox reaction with silver-ammonia complexes([(AgNH3)2]+),primarily focusing on oxidation to produce reactive quinones and promote C-C linkages during reaction.This study aims to increases reactivity of oxidized HKL for effective crosslinking with monoethanolamine(MEA)for the development of bio-based wood adhesives.The characterization,including 13C-nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)and Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,confirms the oxidation reaction,such as the formation of quinones(C=O)and subsequent crosslinking between the oxidized HKL molecules and MEA.Additionally,gel permeation chromatography(GPC)confirms the C-C and C-O linkages with increased molecular weight after oxidation,and is supported by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)which shows the exothermic reaction due to the crosslinking of the oxidized HKL molecules via condensation to form C-C and C-O linkages.The crosslinked HKL/MEA-based adhesives underwent mild reaction and achieved a maximum dry shear strength of 0.77 MPa,which exceeds the standard requirement of 0.6 MPa.These findings demonstrate not only a one-pot oxidation for improving the reactivity of HKL using silver complexes,but also its facile crosslinking with MEA for sustainable bio-based wood adhesives.展开更多
The design and fabrication of high toughness electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding composite films with diminished reflection are an imperative task to solve electromagnetic pollution problem.Ternary MXene/ANF(ar...The design and fabrication of high toughness electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding composite films with diminished reflection are an imperative task to solve electromagnetic pollution problem.Ternary MXene/ANF(aramid nanofibers)–MoS_(2)composite films with nacre-like layered structure here are fabricated after the introduction of MoS_(2)into binary MXene/ANF composite system.The introduction of MoS_(2)fulfills an impressive“kill three birds with one stone”improvement effect:lubrication toughening mechanical performance,reduction in secondary reflection pollution of electromagnetic wave,and improvement in the performance of photothermal conversion.After the introduction of MoS_(2)into binary MXene/ANF(mass ratio of 50:50),the strain to failure and tensile strength increase from 22.1±1.7%and 105.7±6.4 MPa and to 25.8±0.7%and 167.3±9.1 MPa,respectively.The toughness elevates from 13.0±4.1 to 26.3±0.8 MJ m^(−3)(~102.3%)simultaneously.And the reflection shielding effectiveness(SE_(R))of MXene/ANF(mass ratio of 50:50)decreases~10.8%.EMI shielding effectiveness(EMI SE)elevates to 41.0 dB(8.2–12.4 GHz);After the introduction of MoS_(2)into binary MXene/ANF(mass ratio of 60:40),the strain to failure increases from 18.3±1.9%to 28.1±0.7%(~53.5%),the SE_(R)decreases~22.2%,and the corresponding EMI SE is 43.9 dB.The MoS_(2)also leads to a more efficient photothermal conversion performance(~45 to~55℃).Additionally,MXene/ANF–MoS_(2)composite films exhibit excellent electric heating performance,quick temperature elevation(15 s),excellent cycle stability(2,2.5,and 3 V),and long-term stability(2520 s).Combining with excellent mechanical performance with high MXene content,electric heating performance,and photothermal conversion performance,EMI shielding ternary MXene/ANF–MoS_(2)composite films could be applied in many industrial areas.This work broadens how to achieve a balance between mechanical properties and versatility of composites in the case of high-function fillers.展开更多
The rising flexible and intelligent electronics greatly facilitate the noninvasive and timely tracking of physiological information in telemedicine healthcare.Meticulously building bionic-sensitive moieties is vital f...The rising flexible and intelligent electronics greatly facilitate the noninvasive and timely tracking of physiological information in telemedicine healthcare.Meticulously building bionic-sensitive moieties is vital for designing efficient electronic skin with advanced cognitive functionalities to pluralistically capture external stimuli.However,realistic mimesis,both in the skin’s three-dimensional interlocked hierarchical structures and synchronous encoding multistimuli information capacities,remains a challenging yet vital need for simplifying the design of flexible logic circuits.Herein,we construct an artificial epidermal device by in situ growing Cu_(3)(HHTP)_(2) particles onto the hollow spherical Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) surface,aiming to concurrently emulate the spinous and granular layers of the skin’s epidermis.The bionic Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)@Cu_(3)(HHTP)_(2) exhibits independent NO_(2) and pressure response,as well as novel functionalities such as acoustic signature perception and Morse code-encrypted message communication.Ultimately,a wearable alarming system with a mobile application terminal is self-developed by integrating the bimodular senor into flexible printed circuits.This system can assess risk factors related with asthmatic,such as stimulation of external NO_(2) gas,abnormal expiratory behavior and exertion degrees of fingers,achieving a recognition accuracy of 97.6%as assisted by a machine learning algorithm.Our work provides a feasible routine to develop intelligent multifunctional healthcare equipment for burgeoning transformative telemedicine diagnosis.展开更多
All plant organs are derived from stem cell-containing meristems.In maize,the shoot apical meristem(SAM)is responsible for generating all above-ground structures,including the male and female inflorescence meristems(I...All plant organs are derived from stem cell-containing meristems.In maize,the shoot apical meristem(SAM)is responsible for generating all above-ground structures,including the male and female inflorescence meristems(IMs),which give rise to tassel and ear,respectively.Forward and reverse genetic studies on maize meristem mutants have driven forward our fundamental understanding of meristem maintenance and differentiation mechanisms.However,the high genetic redundancy of the maize genome has impeded progress in functional genomics.This review comprehensively summarizes recent advancements in understanding maize meristem development,with a focus on the integration of single-cell and spatial technologies.We discuss the mechanisms governing stem cell maintenance and differentiation in SAM and IM,emphasizing the roles of gene regulatory networks,hormonal pathways,and cellular omics insights into stress responses and adaptation.Future directions include cross-species comparisons,multi-omics integration,and the application of these technologies to precision breeding and stress adaptation research,with the ultimate goal of translating our understanding of meristem into the development of higher yield varieties.展开更多
