Changes in the quality of eggs during storage relate to their shelf life and economic value.factors such as temperature,relative humidity,the operation of cleaning and microorganisms have been shown to play a role in ...Changes in the quality of eggs during storage relate to their shelf life and economic value.factors such as temperature,relative humidity,the operation of cleaning and microorganisms have been shown to play a role in the storage quality of eggs.This study thus aimed at investigating the effect of hen age on the storage quality of egg,and predicting egg shelf life using back propagation artificial neural network(bP-aNN)based models.Eggs laid by Jingfen No.1(27 and 58 weeks of age)and Jingfen No.6(26 and 57 weeks of age)hens were stored under ambient conditions and evaluated by physicochemical properties.it was found that the shelf life of the lower age group was significantly longer than that of the higher age group.a novel hybrid model combining bP-aNN,cuckoo search and adaptive boosting(Cs-bP-adaboost)was proposed for predicting the remaining egg shelf life,with the input being Haugh unit,yolk index,air cell depth,albumen pH,hen age and breed.The tuning process of hyperparameters such as learning rate,training function,and transfer function was presented in detail.results show that Cs-bP-adaboost had satisfactory performance on the test set with root mean square error(rMsE)and coefficient of determination(R^(2))of 0.68 and 0.97,respectively.and it outperformed bP-aNN by reducing rMsE by 0.39 and improving R^(2) by 0.05.The model used solved the problem that the traditional bP-aNN tends to fall into local minima.The removal of hen age from the input parameters caused a decrease in prediction accuracy(R2=0.95,rMsE=1.00),suggesting an important role of hen age in shelf life prediction.This study demonstrates the great potential of applying combinatorial modeling approaches to predict egg shelf life and the crucial impact of hen age on egg shelf life prediction.展开更多
Pulmonary fibrosis(PF)is sexually dimorphic,with a relatively high prevalence and severity in males;however,the mechanism remains unclear.Our study revealed pronounced sexual dimorphism of immune cell genes in the lun...Pulmonary fibrosis(PF)is sexually dimorphic,with a relatively high prevalence and severity in males;however,the mechanism remains unclear.Our study revealed pronounced sexual dimorphism of immune cell genes in the lung,among which grancalcin(GCA)showed profound sex differences.GCA was produced by lung-infiltrating bone marrow macrophages triggered by heightened inflammation in the lung.However,a unique HTR2C+alveolar macrophage population enriched in female lungs metabolically reprogramed bone marrow-derived macrophages and constrained local GCA amplification.As a novel chemokine,GCA bound to protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type T(PTPRT)in Th17 cells and facilitated pathogenic lung infiltration by activating the ROCK1-MLC pathway,thus aggravating lung fibrosis.Notably,both GCA and Th17 cells abundantly accumulated in lung biopsies from male PF patients but not in those from female patients.GCA-neutralizing antibodies in combination with pirfenidone,a prescribed medication for treating fibrosis,provided superior effectiveness and survival rates against PF compared with treatment with pirfenidone alone.Overall,our findings reveal that sex-biased lung fibrosis is shaped by lung immuneregulatory units,which could be targeted to limit lung fibrosis.展开更多
Graphene/polyester staple sponge(GPSS)is a high-performance adsorbent for the cleanup of crude oil spill,but the use of hydrazine hydrate as the reducing agent for the preparation of GPSS is not friendly to the enviro...Graphene/polyester staple sponge(GPSS)is a high-performance adsorbent for the cleanup of crude oil spill,but the use of hydrazine hydrate as the reducing agent for the preparation of GPSS is not friendly to the environment.Herein,we reported that graphene oxide/polyester staple composite could be hydrothermally reduced by bioresource glucose to prepare GPSS of similar performance.GPSS could be applied in the absorption of oils and organic solvents thanks to its large pore volume and hydrophobicity.The absorption capacity of the novel glucose-reduced GPSS was competitive to those of the most effective absorbents for oil spill cleanup.The used GPSS could be easily regenerated by soaking in ethanol to remove the absorbed oil.The green synthesis,high oil absorption performance and easy recycling of the glucose-reduced GPSS make it a good candidate for cleaning oil spills.展开更多
