Adsorption can be used to recover effectively the volatile organic gases(VOCs)in the exhaust gas from factories through using an appropriate adsorption bed.Due to form a physical or chemical bond,adsorption occurs between the porous solid medium and the liquid or gas multi component fluid mixture.The regeneration capa-city of the adsorbent is as important as the adsorption capacity and it determines the economics of the adsorption system.The regeneration of adsorbent can be realized through changing the pressure or temperature of the system.Here,activated carbon samples from coconut shell were prepared and characterized.Benzene or formal-dehyde in the mixed air was used as the adsorption object,and the adsorption experiment was carried out in a U-shaped bed.Discussed how adsorption was affected by activated carbon type,adsorbate and temperature.The results show that oxidation modifed activated carbon can increase the adsorption effect of form aldehyde,but will reduce the ad sorption effect of benzene,because their ad sorption mechanism is different.At 30℃,the saturated adsorption apacity of AC-0 for benzene is 437.0 mg/g.and that of AC-1 for formaldehyde is 670.5 mg/g.In the experimental range,it is found that the adsorption capacity increases with the decrease of temperature,and their changes are very consistent with the ftted ExpDecay1 function. 展开更多

Mifepristone modulates serotonin transporter function

Mifepristone, a glu- cocorticoid receptor antagonist, is an effective candidate for psychotic depression treatment. However, the underlying mechanism related to serotonin transporter expression is poorly un- derstood. In this study, we cloned the human brain serotonin transporter into Xenopus oocytes, to establish an in vitro expression system. Two-electrode voltage clamp recordings were used to detect serotonin transporter activity. Our results show that mifepristone attenuates serotonin transporter activity by directly inhibiting the serotonin transporter, and suggests that the se- rotonin transporter is a pharmacological target of mifepristone for the treatment of psychotic depression. 展开更多

Targeted gene integration mediated by CRISPR/Cas9 is a promising therapeutic strategy for monogenic autosomal recessive diseases.In this study,we established a novel all-in-one high-capacity adenovirus(HCAd)that can pack both CRISPR/Cas9 and donor DNA into the same vector and tested it on a mouse model of mucopolysaccharidosis typeⅦ(MPSⅦ)caused by mutations in theβ-glucuronidase(GUSB)gene.This system allowed targeted integration of promoterless GUSB in the mouse beta-actin gene(m Actb)locus and the co-expression of GUSB with the self-cleaving peptide T2A(T2A)controlled by a strong endogenous m Actb promoter.The in vivo results indicated that the serum GUSB level of MPSⅦmice treated with a single intraperitoneal injection of the HCAd vector achieved 14%of that of wild-type mice,resulting in significant amelioration of lysosomal storage in the liver and spleen.Furthermore,the HCAd was injected intraventricularly in the brain of newborn MPSⅦmice,leading to strongly positive GUSB enzyme staining in the choroid plexus and perivascular spaces of the periventricular regions and reduced lysosome storage.In summary,by using an all-in-one vector,the study provides a universal,one-for-all therapeutic for MPSⅦ,a disease caused by different mutations of the GUSB gene. 展开更多
