Resistant varieties are most suitable option to reduce crop losses from bacterial wilt but knowledge of resistance mechanism and its inheritance is important to develop resistant varieties. Further, majority of germplasm from mainland India showed susceptible reaction under Andaman conditions. Thus, the present study was done during 2010-2012 to understand the genetic behaviour of bacterial wilt resistance in brinjal “CARI-B-1” (R) × “Pusa Purple Long” (S) in hot humid tropical climate of Andaman Islands. For this, the population from single F1 fruit was advanced to F2 and F3 and recorded the reaction of segregating population in the sick plots. The results revealed that there is preponderance of recessive gene family wherein more than one gene acts in additive mode. Another cross between S. torvum (R) × Diglipur local collection (S) also showed the recessive gene action for resistance as observed in F2 generation. Besides, the study also advocated that mechanisms of resistance, escape with early resistance and progressive escape have been found to be operating in individuals of segregating population.展开更多

The object is to introduce a perturbed iteration method for proving the convergence of sequence of Lipschitzian pseudocontractive mapping using approximate fixed point technique. This iteration can be ued for nonlinear operators which are more general than Lipschitzian pseudocontractive operator and Bruck iteration fails for proving their convergence. Our results generalize the results of Chidume and Zegeye.展开更多

Ten of them are isolated injuries, and in 7 cases the hamate dislocation is a part of other injuries of the hand. Hamate dislocation can be caused by both direct and indirect forces, or as a part of complex injury of the wrist and hand. Case Report: A case report of a 26-year-old man who presented with a machine injury to his hand with a volar hamate dislocation which was initially missed in the Emergency department as a volar lacerated wound of the hand and was subsequently discovered in the Orthopaedic clinic 6 weeks later. Conclusion: This is only the second report in literature of a neglected hamate dislocation being surgically treated and the 18th reported case of a hamate dislocation over the last 130 years. The direction of dislocation depends on the direction of force applied. Surgical treatment with fixation is optimal even for neglected cases. There was no incidence of avascular necrosis of hamate reported, reflecting the almost equal volar and dorsal blood supply of the hamate.展开更多
