Uric acid(UA)is a naturally antioxidant that is strongly associated with the development and progression of Parkinson's disease(PD).The purine diet is an important exogenous pathway that modulates blood UA levels.Deep brain stimulation(DBS)is an important tool for PD treatment. This study aimed to explore the effects of preoperative purine diet on the prognosis of patients with PD after DBS.Sixty-four patients with PD who underwent DBS were included in this study, and their clinical data, blood UA levels, and daily purine intake.Patients were followed up for improvement 1 year after surgery. We found that patient higher purine intake was strongly associated with the rate of improvement after DBS and was a protective factor for patient prognosis.Daily purine intake from meat and seafood was significantly higher in the responsive patients than in the lessresponsive patients.Mediation analysis showed that UA mediated 78%of the effect of purine intake on motor symptom improvement after DBS.In summary,we observed that purine intake is strongly associated with the rate of improvement in motor symptoms after subthalamic nucleus-DBS in patients with PD.This study provides a reference for preoperative diet planning in patients with PD undergoing DBS. 展开更多

Shuriken-like nickel nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by a thermal decomposition method at2009 with Nickel(Ⅱ) acetylacetonate(Ni(acac)2) as the precursor and oleylamine(OAm) as the solvent and reductant, respectively. The phase structures, morphologies and sizes, and magnetic properties of the as-synthesized nickel products were characterized in detail by using X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),field emission-scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM) and vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM).Some key reaction parameters, such as the reaction time, reaction temperature and surfactants, have important influence on the morphology of the final products.XRD pattern indicated that the products are well-crystallized face-centered cubic(fcc) nickel phase.SEM images demonstrated that the nickel nanoparticles are shuriken-like morphology with average size around150 nm.The mechanism of shuriken-like Ni nanoparticles(NPs) is proposed. The magnetic hysteresis loops of shuriken-like and spherical nickel products illustrated the ferromagnetic nature at 300 K,indicating its potential applications in magnetic storage. 展开更多

Malignant behaviors of brain gliomas include proliferation and infiltration. It remains unclear which behavior influences the status of adjacent corticospinal tracts.Diffusion tensor imaging can show the status of brain white matter fiber tracts.Ki-67 and CD44/matrix metalloproteinase 9 are sensitive markers for reflecting the proliferation and infiltration of tumor cells. The present study analyzed pre-operative diffusion tensor images of 24 patients with pathologically confirmed World Health Organization glioma(Ⅰ-Ⅳ).We observed lapse, infiltration and destruction of the peri-tumor corticospinal tract following reconstruction, and simultaneously detected the expression of Ki-67,CD44/matrix metalloproteinase 9 in samples.Expression of CD44 and matrix metalloproteinase 9was not significantly correlated to the status of the peri-tumor corticospinal tract(r = 1.597,4.859;P = 0.450,0.088),while Ki-67 expression significantly correlated to its status(r= 6.590,P = 0.037).These findings demonstrate that highly proliferative gliomas result in damage to the peripheral corticospinal tract. 展开更多
