Regulatory T cells in neurological disorders and tissue regeneration:Mechanisms of action and therapeutic potentials

Regulatory T cells,a subset of CD4^(+)T cells,play a critical role in maintaining immune tolerance and tissue homeostasis due to their potent immunosuppressive properties.Recent advances in research have highlighted the important therapeutic potential of Tregs in neurological diseases and tissue repair,emphasizing their multifaceted roles in immune regulation.This review aims to summarize and analyze the mechanisms of action and therapeutic potential of Tregs in relation to neurological diseases and neural regeneration.Beyond their classical immune-regulatory functions,emerging evidence points to non-immune mechanisms of regulatory T cells,particularly their interactions with stem cells and other non-immune cells.These interactions contribute to optimizing the repair microenvironment and promoting tissue repair and nerve regeneration,positioning non-immune pathways as a promising direction for future research.By modulating immune and non-immune cells,including neurons and glia within neural tissues,Tregs have demonstrated remarkable efficacy in enhancing regeneration in the central and peripheral nervous systems.Preclinical studies have revealed that Treg cells interact with neurons,glial cells,and other neural components to mitigate inflammatory damage and support functional recovery.Current mechanistic studies show that Tregs can significantly promote neural repair and functional recovery by regulating inflammatory responses and the local immune microenvironment.However,research on the mechanistic roles of regulatory T cells in other diseases remains limited,highlighting substantial gaps and opportunities for exploration in this field.Laboratory and clinical studies have further advanced the application of regulatory T cells.Technical advances have enabled efficient isolation,ex vivo expansion and functionalization,and adoptive transfer of regulatory T cells,with efficacy validated in animal models.Innovative strategies,including gene editing,cell-free technologies,biomaterial-based recruitment,and in situ delivery have expanded the therapeutic potential of regulatory T cells.Gene editing enables precise functional optimization,while biomaterial and in situ delivery technologies enhance their accumulation and efficacy at target sites.These advancements not only improve the immune-regulatory capacity of regulatory T cells but also significantly enhance their role in tissue repair.By leveraging the pivotal and diverse functions of Tregs in immune modulation and tissue repair,regulatory T cells–based therapies may lead to transformative breakthroughs in the treatment of neurological diseases. 展开更多

Towards atomic-scale smooth surface manufacturing of β-Ga_(2)O_(3)via highly efficient atmospheric plasma etching 被引量:1

The highly efficient manufacturing of atomic-scale smooth β-Ga_(2)O_(3)surface is fairly challenging because β-Ga_(2)O_(3)is a typical difficult-to-machine material.In this study,a novel plasma dry etching method named plasma-based atom-selective etching(PASE)is proposed to achieve the highly efficient,atomic-scale,and damage-free polishing of β-Ga_(2)O_(3).The plasma is excited through the inductive coupling principle and carbon tetrafluoride is utilized as the main reaction gas to etch β-Ga_(2)O_(3).The core of PASE polishing of β-Ga_(2)O_(3)is the remarkable lateral etching effect,which is ensured by both the intrinsic property of the surface and the extrinsic temperature condition.As revealed by density functional theory-based calculations,the intrinsic difference in the etching energy barrier of atoms at the step edge(2.36 eV)and in the terrace plane(4.37 eV)determines their difference in the etching rate,and their etching rate difference can be greatly enlarged by increasing the extrinsic temperature.The polishing of β-Ga_(2)O_(3)based on the lateral etching effect is further verified in the etching experiments.The Sa roughness of β-Ga_(2)O_(3)(001)substrate is reduced from 14.8 nm to 0.057 nm within 120 s,and the corresponding material removal rate reaches up to 20.96μm·min^(−1).The polished β-Ga_(2)O_(3)displays significantly improved crystalline quality and photoluminescence intensity,and the polishing effect of PASE is independent of the crystal face of β-Ga_(2)O_(3).In addition,the competition between chemical etching and physical reconstruction,which is determined by temperature and greatly affects the surface state of β-Ga_(2)O_(3),is deeply studied for the first time.These findings not only demonstrate the high-efficiency and high-quality polishing of β-Ga_(2)O_(3)via atmospheric plasma etching but also hold significant implications for guiding future plasma-based surface manufacturing of β-Ga_(2)O_(3). 展开更多

Data-driven adaptive distributed optimal disturbance rejection control of frequency regulation in nonlinear power systems

With the increasing penetration of renewable energy resources in power systems,conventional timescale separated load frequency control(LFC)and economic dispatch may degrade frequency performance and reduce economic efficiency.This paper proposes a novel data-driven adaptive distributed optimal disturbance rejection control(DODRC)method for real-time economic LFC problem in nonlinear power systems.Firstly,a basic DODRC method is proposed by integrating the active disturbance rejection control method and the partial primal–dual algorithm.Then,to deal with the tie-line power flow constraints,the logarithmic barrier function is employed to reconstruct the Lagrange function to obtain the constrained DODRC method.By analyzing the sensitivity of the uncertain parameters of power systems,a data-driven adaptive DODRC method is finally proposed with a neural network.The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by experimental results using real-time equipment. 展开更多

Deconvolution in radio interferometry faces challenges due to incomplete sampling of the visibilities in the spatial frequency domain caused by a limited number of antenna baselines,resulting in an ill-posed inverse problem.Reconstructing dirty images into clean ones is crucial for subsequent scientific analysis.To address these challenges,we propose a U-Net based method that extracts high-level information from the dirty image and reconstructs a clean image by effectively reducing artifacts and sidelobes.The U-Net architecture,consisting of an encoder-decoder structure and skip connections,facilitates the flow of information and preserves spatial details.Using simulated data of radio galaxies,we train our model and evaluate its performance on the testing set.Compared with the CLEAN method and the visibility and image conditioned denoising diffusion probabilistic model,our proposed model can effectively reconstruct both extended sources and faint point sources with higher values in the structural similarity index measure and the peak signal-to-noise ratio.Furthermore,we investigate the impact of noise on the model performance,demonstrating its robustness under varying noise levels. 展开更多

Sb_(2)Se_(3)solar cells have achieved a power conversion efficiency(PCE)of over 10%.However,the serious open-circuit voltage deficit(VOC-deificit),induced by the hard-to-control crystal orientation and heterojunction interface reaction,limits the PCE of vapor transport deposition(VTD)processed Sb_(2)Se_(3)solar cells.To overcome the VOC-deficit problem of VTD processed Sb_(2)Se_(3)solar cells,herein,an in-situ bandgap regulation strategy is innovatively proposed to prepare a wide band gap Sb2(S,Se)3seed layer(WBSL)at CdS/Sb_(2)Se_(3)heterojunction interface to improve the PCE of Sb_(2)Se_(3)solar cells.The analysis results show that the introduced Sb2(S,Se)3seed layer can enhance the[001]orientation of Sb_(2)Se_(3)thin films,broaden the band gap of heterojunction interface,and realize a"Spike-like"conduction band alignment with ΔE_(c)=0.11 eV.In addition,thanks to the suppressed CdS/Sb_(2)Se_(3)interface reaction after WBSL application,the depletion region width of Sb_(2)Se_(3)solar cells is widened,and the quality of CdS/Sb_(2)Se_(3)interface and the carrier transporting performance of Sb_(2)Se_(3)solar cells are significantly improved as well.Moreover,the harmful Se vacancy defects near the front interface of Sb_(2)Se_(3)solar cells can be greatly diminished by WBSL.Finally,the PCE of Sb_(2)Se_(3)solar cells is improved from 7.0%to 7.6%;meanwhile the VOCis increased to 466 mV which is the highest value for the VTD derived Sb_(2)Se_(3)solar cells.This work will provide a valuable reference for the interface and orientation regulation of antimony-based chalcogenide solar cells. 展开更多

In the fight against bacterial infections,it is critical to effectively disrupt biofilms.However,disruption of biofilms becomes exceptionally difficult due to the low permeability of therapeutic agents.Herein,we present a self-propelled nanovesicle(PCL-PLG@CHX)strategy for eliminating biofilms and further expediting the healing of wounds.PCL-PLG@CHX is synthesized by assembling vesicles from amphiphilic polymers,which incorporate both poly-ε-caprolactone and guanidinated-poly-ε-lysine(PCL-PLG)and are infused with chlorhexidine(CHX).Upon application to sites of bacterial infection,PCL-PLG@CHX,abundant in guanidinium structures,effectively accumulates on the negatively charged surface of biofilms.It interacts with reactive oxygen species(ROS)within the biofilm,leading to nitric oxide(NO)production.The generated NO cannot only propel the nanovesicle to penetrate deeper into the biofilm,but also act as a signaling molecule to disperse the biofilm,working in conjunction with the subsequent release of CHX for an enhanced antibacterial impact.Following the eradication of bacteria,the residual guanidine component continues to produce small quantities of NO,facilitating angiogenesis and epithelial growth,thereby accelerating the healing of wounds.Together,our study shows that PCL-PLG@CHX utilizes the potential of guanidine moieties to efficiently break down biofilms and support tissue restoration,tackling the pivotal challenge of biofilm-related diseases. 展开更多

High performances of Cu_(2)ZnSn(S,Se)_(4)(CZTSSe)solar cells are heavily influenced by the quality of heterojunctions.Herein,an oxygen(O)doping of CZTSSe/CdS heterojunction is performed to suppress the formation of the defects by an ultraviolet ozone(UV-O_(3))treatment for the efficient flexible CZTSSe solar cells.The introduction of O reduces the non-radiative recombination and increases the carrier concentration of the CdS films.Furthermore,the defect density of the CdS film has been reduced from 8.24×10^(16)to2.91×10^(16)cm^(-3)by the O-doping.The results indicate that the electron transport is effectively promoted due to the decreased conduction band offset(CBO)at the heterojunction interface.As a result,the champion flexible CZTSSe solar cell achieves a power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 11.21%,with a significantly improved short circuit current density.The study for improving the CZTSSe/CdS heterojunction through O-doping treatment provides a new insight for enhancing the PCE of the flexible CZTSSe solar cells. 展开更多

The performance of the deconvolution algorithm plays a crucial role in data processing of radio interferometers.The multi-scale multi-frequency synthesis(MSMFS)CLEAN is a widely used deconvolution algorithm for radio interferometric imaging,which combines the advantages of both wide-band synthesis imaging and multi-scale imaging and can substantially improve performance.However,how best to effectively determine the optimal scale is an important problem when implementing the MSMFS CLEAN algorithm.In this study,we proposed a Gaussian fitting method for multiple sources based on the gradient descent algorithm,with consideration of the influence of the point spread function(PSF).After fitting,we analyzed the fitting components using statistical analysis to derive reasonable scale information through the model parameters.A series of simulation validations demonstrated that the scales extracted by our proposed algorithm are accurate and reasonable.The proposed method can be applied to the deconvolution algorithm and provide modeling analysis for Gaussian sources,offering data support for source extraction algorithms. 展开更多

The Square Kilometre Array(SKA)has the potential to revolutionize astronomical research through its unparalleled precision.A critical aspect of SKA imaging is the computation of the UVW coordinates,which must be accurate and reliable for the development of the SKA scientific data processor.Katpoint is the current method used to calculate UVW in Meer KAT.Using a pseudo-source,we employ a simple cross-product method to determine UVWs.In this study,we explore the applicability of Katpoint for SKA1-low and SKA1-mid and evaluate its precision.The conventional method,CALC/Omni UV,and Katpoint were quantitatively assessed through simulations.The results indicate that Katpoint exhibits substantial accuracy with MeerKAT compared to traditional techniques.However,its precision is slightly inadequate for the long baselines of SKA1.We improved the precision of Katpoint by identifying optimal offset values for pseudo-sources on the SKA1 telescope through simulation,finding a 0°.11 offset suitable for SKA1-Mid and a 0°.045 offset for SKA1-Low.Final result validations demonstrate that these adjustments render the computational accuracy fully comparable to the standard CALC/Omni UV method,which would meet the requirements of SKA high-precision imaging and offer a solution for high-precision imaging in radio interferometers. 展开更多

An integrated membrane system, membrane bioreactor-reverse osmosis (MBR-RO), has become highly efficient in producing high-quality water for municipal wastewater reclamation. However, disposal of a highly concentrated waste stream (RO concentrate or RO retentate) generated in this combination is an important issue. This work investigated RO behaviour in an integrated pilot scale MBR-RO system for municipal wastewater reuse with the continuous recycling of RO retentate to the MBR influent. RO membrane retention and the fouling propensity were studied. RO concentrate, produced by the RO process at a fixed concentration factor (CF) of 3, was recycled continuously to the MBR, leading to water recovery of the entire process around 92%. Osmotic pressure model, saturation index method, high performance liquid chromatography equipped with size exclusion column (HPLC-SEC) and specific filtration test were used to analyse the fouling potential of the RO membrane. The results obtained showed that even though RO concentrate recycling changed remarkably, the compositions of both MBR permeate and RO concentrate, the quality of RO permeate remained almost constant in terms of organic matters, conductivity, and ionic salts. However, these high concentrations of organic or inorganic substances in RO concentrate were major factors leading to the RO membrane fouling. Before RO concentrate recycling, a decline of approximately 30% of the initial RO permeate flux was observed in the period when the CF was increasing to 3, mainly due to the osmotic pressure effect of retained ions and the deposits of organic matters at the RO membrane surface. After RO concentrate addition to the MBR, due to the continuous accumulation of ionic salts on the RO membrane surface, a gradual reduction in RO permeate flux (additional 19%) was also mainly attributed to the osmotic pressure effect of the retained ions. These observations showed that the continuous addition of RO concentrate to the MBR was successful in a combined MBR and RO process in terms of the excellent quality of RO permeate. 展开更多

通过优化洋甘菊总黄酮的提取和分离纯化工艺,研究了先用超临界CO_(2)去除洋甘菊脂溶性成分,再结合超声辅助提取洋甘菊总黄酮,用大孔树脂对洋甘菊总黄酮进行分离纯化,并对洋甘菊总黄酮成分进行了分析及表征。得到超临界CO_(2)去除洋甘菊... 通过优化洋甘菊总黄酮的提取和分离纯化工艺,研究了先用超临界CO_(2)去除洋甘菊脂溶性成分,再结合超声辅助提取洋甘菊总黄酮,用大孔树脂对洋甘菊总黄酮进行分离纯化,并对洋甘菊总黄酮成分进行了分析及表征。得到超临界CO_(2)去除洋甘菊脂溶性成分的较佳工艺条件为:萃取温度50℃、萃取时间60 min、萃取压力25 MPa,洋甘菊除脂率为8.66%;超声辅助提取洋甘菊总黄酮的较佳工艺条件为:超声时间15 min、乙醇体积分数50%、料液比1∶25 (g∶mL)、超声功率200 W,总黄酮提取率为4.25%;选用AB-8树脂,纯化后洋甘菊总黄酮的纯度由6.04%提高到52.25%,而不结合超临界CO_(2)萃取法的单一超声辅助提取法采用同样纯化工艺后洋甘菊总黄酮的纯度仅为25.47%。结果表明超临界CO_(2)萃取法和超声辅助提取法的结合工艺能更加高效提取洋甘菊总黄酮,并能降低洋甘菊总黄酮的气味,纯化后的洋甘菊总黄酮可较好的清除DPPH及ABTS自由基,具有较强的抗氧化活性。 展开更多

Herein grafting polymerization was employed to produce a novel adsorbent using acrylic acid and carboxymethyl cellulose for dye removal. Scanning electron microscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy verified the adsorbent formed under optimized reaction conditions. The removal ratio of adsorbent to Methyl Orange, Disperse Blue 2BLN and malachite green chloride reached to 84.2%, 79.6% and 99.9%, respectively. The greater agreement between the calculated and experimental results suggested that pseudo second-order kinetic model better represents the kinetic adsorption data. Equilibrium adsorptions of dyes were better explained by the Temkin isotherm. The results implied that this new cellulose-based absorbent had the universaiity for removal of dyes through the chemical adsorption mechanism. 展开更多

In the last 6 years, their certi... Metal halide perovskites are crystalline materials originally developed out of scientific curiosity. They have shown great potential as active materials in optoelectronic applications. In the last 6 years, their certified photovoltaic efficiencies have reached 22.1%. Compared to bulk halide perovskites, low-dimensional ones exhibited novel physical properties. The photoluminescence quantum yields of perovskite quantum dots are close to 100%. The external quantum efficiencies and current efficiencies of perovskite quantum dot light-emitting diodes have reached 8% and 43 cd A^(-1),respectively, and their nanowire lasers show ultralow-threshold room-temperature lasing with emission tunability and ease of synthesis. Perovskite nanowire photodetectors reached a responsivity of 10 A W^(-1)and a specific normalized detectivity of the order of 10^(12 )Jones. Different from most reported reviews focusing on photovoltaic applications, we summarize the rapid progress in the study of low-dimensional perovskite materials, as well as their promising applications in optoelectronic devices. In particular, we review the wide tunability of fabrication methods and the state-of-the-art research outputs of low-dimensional perovskite optoelectronic devices. Finally, the anticipated challenges and potential for this exciting research are proposed. 展开更多
