Photothermal catalysis is a promising technology primarily utilized the solar energy to produce photogenerated e^(-)/h^(+) pairs together with the production of heat energy.However,the inefficient separation of charge carriers and inadequate response to near-infrared(NIR)light usually leads to the unsatisfactory photocatalytic efficiency,hindering their application potentials.In this work,a significantly enhanced photothermal catalytic hydrogen evolution reaction over the lead-free perovskite Cs_(3)Bi_(2)Br_(9)/FeS_(2)(CBB/FS)heterostructure is simultaneously verified,where the CBB/FS Z-scheme heterojunctions display the strong stability and superb photothermal catalytic activity.Under the simulated solar irradiation(AM 1.5G),the optimized CBB/FS-5 achieves a photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate of 31.5 mmol g^(-1)h^(-1),which is 112.6 and 77.1 times higher than that of FS and CBB,respectively,together with an apparent quantum yield of 29.5%at 420 nm.This significantly improved photocatalytic H_(2)evolution can be mainly attributed to the Z-scheme charge transfer and photothermal-assisted synergistically enhanced photocatalytic H_(2)production,and the potential mechanism of the enhanced photocatalytic H_(2)evolution is also proposed by photoelectrochemical characterizations,in situ XPS,EPR spectra,and the DFT calculations.This work provides new insights to the design of high-efficient photothermal catalysts,leading to the sustainable and efficient solutions towards the energy and environmental challenges. 展开更多

Paired nitrogen management for improving wheat yields while minimizing nitrogen losses

Excellent nitrogen(N)management techniques can improve crop yields while mitigating reactive N(Nr)losses.The synergistic effects of applying paired N management techniques have important implications for designing excellent N management strategies,but the interaction effects remain poorly known.Here,a meta-analysis was conducted to quantify the effects of optimized N management techniques(optimized N application rate,optimized topdressing,and applying enhanced-efficiency fertilizers)on wheat yield,N use efficiency(NUE),and Nr losses,as well as the interactive effects of paired N management techniques(combining an optimized N rate with topdressing or enhanced-effciency fertilizers).The results demonstrated that an optimized N fertilizer rate reduced Nr losses by 28-31%while the wheat yield declined by 2%;however,the wheat yield increased by 2%when the reduction of N fertilizer was less than 20%.The adoption of topdressing and enhancedeffciency fertilizers signifcantly increased wheat yields by 4-8%and NUE by 8-14%,while reducing Nr losses by 28-40%,and high topdressing frequency and nitrifcation inhibitors showed stronger positive effects on wheat yield.Paired N management techniques increased wheat yields by 3-4%and NUE by 37-38%,with additive or synergistic effects;and they also reduced Nr losses by 5-66%but showed an antagonistic effect.Such nonadditive interactions amplifed the positive effects on wheat production,but the benefts in terms of environmental risk reduction were weakened.Overall,this study highlights the importance of synergistic effects in innovative N management to address the trade-off between crop yield and Nr losses. 展开更多

CuBi_(2)O_(4)is identified as a promising photocathode in photoelectrochemical(PEC)water splitting systems.However,the PEC performance of CuBi_(2)O_(4)is far from expected due to the limited separation and transport efficiency of photogenerated carriers.To address the above issues,a cost-effective ternary Cu:NiO_(X)/CuBi_(2)O_(4)/CuO composite photocathode was designed.Firstly,a thin Cu:NiO_(X)film was inserted between CuBi_(2)O_(4)and FTO conducting substrate as a hole-selective layer,which promotes the transmission of photogenerated holes to the FTO substrate effectively.Furthermore,the modification of CuO film on the CuBi_(2)O_(4)electrode not only increases the absorption of sunlight and generates more photogenerated carriers,but also constitutes a heterojunction with CuBi_(2)O_(4),creating a built-in electric field,which facilitates the separation of electrons and holes,and accelerates the electrons transfer to electrode–electrolyte interface.The fabricated Cu:NiO_(X)/CuBi_(2)O_(4)/CuO composite photocathode exhibits a surprisingly high photocurrent density of−1.51 mA·cm^(−2)at 0.4 V versus RHE,which is 2.6 times that of the pristine CuBi_(2)O_(4)photocathode.The improved PEC performance is attributed to the synergy effect of the Cu:NiO_(X)hole-selective layer and the CuBi_(2)O_(4)/CuO heterojunction.Moreover,the combination with the BiVO_(4)/CoS,an unbiased overall water splitting was achieved,which has a photocurrent of 0.193 mA·cm^(−2). 展开更多

Endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR)and endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)are well-established therapeutics for gastrointestinal neoplasias,but complications after EMR/ESD,including bleeding and perforation,result in additional treatment morbidity and even threaten the lives of patients.Thus,designing biomaterials to treat gastric bleeding and wound healing after endoscopic treatment is highly desired and remains a challenge.Herein,a series of injectable pH-responsive selfhealing adhesive hydrogels based on acryloyl-6-aminocaproic acid(AA)and AA-g-N-hydroxysuccinimide(AA-NHS)were developed,and their great potential as endoscopic sprayable bioadhesive materials to efficiently stop hemorrhage and promote the wound healing process was further demonstrated in a swine gastric hemorrhage/wound model.The hydrogels showed a suitable gelation time,an autonomous and efficient self-healing capacity,hemostatic properties,and good biocompatibility.With the introduction of AA-NHS as a micro-cross-linker,the hydrogels exhibited enhanced adhesive strength.A swine gastric hemorrhage in vivo model demonstrated that the hydrogels showed good hemostatic performance by stopping acute arterial bleeding and preventing delayed bleeding.A gastric wound model indicated that the hydrogels showed excellent treatment effects with significantly enhanced wound healing with type I collagen deposition,α-SMA expression,and blood vessel formation.These injectable self-healing adhesive hydrogels exhibited great potential to treat gastric wounds after endoscopic treatment. 展开更多

A novel high-entropy material,(Y_(0.2)Gd_(0.2)Er_(0.2)Yb_(0.2)Lu_(0.2))_(2)Zr_(2)O_(7)was successfully synthesized by the solid state reaction method and spark plasma sintering,and investigated as a promising thermal barrier coating material.Rare-earth elements were distributed homogeneously in the pyrochlore structure.It was found that the prepared high-entropy ceramic maintains pyrochlore structure at the temperature up to 1600℃,and it possesses a similar thermal expansion coefficient(10.2×10^(−6)K^(−1) at 25-900℃)to that of YSZ,low thermal conductivity(<0.9 W m^(-1)K^(−1) at 100-1000℃)and good CMAS resistance(infiltration depth is 22μm after annealed at 1300℃for 24 h).The corrosion process was investigated,and RE elements distributing homogeneously in(Y_(0.2)Gd_(0.2)Er_(0.2)Yb_(0.2)Lu_(0.2))_(2)Zr_(2)O_(7)show different diffusion rates in CMAS.RE^(3+) with a larger radius(closer to Ca^(2+))is easier to react with CMAS to form an apatite phase. 展开更多

The WC/CoCrFeNiAl0.2 high-entropy alloy(HEA)composites were prepared through high-gravity combustion synthesis.The preparation method is presented below.First,using a designed suitable multiphase thermite system,the molten CoCrFeNiAl0.2 HEA was fabricated using low-cost metal oxides.The molten HEA was subsequently infiltrated into the WC layer to fabricate WC/CoCrFeNiAl0.2 composites in a highgravity field.The porosity of the WC/CoCrFeNiAl0.2 composites was down-regulated,and their compressive yield strength was up-regulated when the high-gravity field was increased from 600g to 1500g because this infiltration process of a HEA melt into the WC layer is driven by centrifugal force.The WC particles in the composites exhibited a gradient distribution along the direction of the centrifugal force,which was attributed to the combined action of the high-gravity field and the temperature gradient field.The Vickers hardness of the sample was down-regulated from 9.53 to 7.41 GPa along the direction of the centrifugal force. 展开更多

Q235carbon steel and Q450 weathering steel were exposed to the hot and dry environment of Turpan,China for three years.The corrosion rates of both steels were calculated and compared.The morphologies of the rust layer products were observed by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy.Analyses of the rust layers were performed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,X-ray powder diffraction,and Raman spectroscopy,and analysis results indicate that the compositions of rust are main iron rich oxide such as FeOOH,Fe_3O_4,and Fe_2O_3.The iron oxide layer content proportion was calculated through a semi-quantitative algorithm.The resistance elements(Cr,Ni,and Cu)enhanced the resistance properties of the Q450 weathering steel matrix.Moreover,the resistance elements increased the proportion of goethite crystals in the corroded rust layer. 展开更多

Zinc oxide(ZnO) thin films were deposited onto different substrates — tin-doped indium oxide(ITO)/glass, ITO/polyethylene naphthalate(PEN), ITO/polyethylene terephthalate(PET) — by the radio-frequency(RF) magnetron sputtering method. The effect of various O2/(Ar+O2) gas flow ratios(0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, and 0.6) was studied in detail. ZnO layers deposited onto ITO/PEN and ITO/PET substrates exhibited a stronger c-axis preferred orientation along the(0002) direction compared to ZnO deposited onto ITO/glass. The transmittance spectra of ZnO films showed that the maximum transmittances of ZnO films deposited onto ITO/glass, ITO/PEN, and ITO/PET substrates were 89.2%, 65.0%, and 77.8%, respectively. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) images of the film surfaces indicated that the grain was uniform. The cross-sectional SEM images showed that the ZnO films were columnar structures whose c-axis was perpendicular to the film surface. The test results for a fabricated ZnO thin film based energy harvester showed that its output voltage increased with increasing acceleration of external vibration. 展开更多

In this work, the effects of atomic-layer-deposited(ALD) Al2O3 passivation layers with different thicknesses on the interface chemistry and electrical properties of sputtering-derived HfYO gate dielectrics on Si substrates have been investigated. The results of electrical measurements and X-ray photoelectron sepectroscopy(XPS) showed that 1-nm-thick Al2O3 passivation layer is optimized to obtain excellent electrical and interfacial properties for HfYO/Si gate stack. Then, the metal-oxide-semiconductor capacitors with HfYO/1-nm Al2O3/Si/Al gate stack were fabricated and annealed at different temperatures in forming gas(95% N2+5% H2). Capacitance-voltage(C-V) and current density-voltage(J-V) characteristics showed that the 250℃-annealed HYO high-k gate dielectric thin film demonstrated the lowest border trapped oxide charge density(-3.3 × 1010 cm-2), smallest gate-leakage current(2.45 × 10-6 A/cm2 at 2 V)compared with other samples. Moreover, the annealing temperature dependent leakage current conduction mechanism for Al/HfYO/Al2O3/Si/Al MOS capacitor has been investigated systematically. Detailed electrical measurements reveal that Poole-Frenkle emission is the main dominant emission in the region of low and medium electric fields while direct tunneling is dominant conduction mechanism at high electric fields. 展开更多

Graphite flake/Cu composite has attracted tremendous attention as a promising heat sinks materials owing to its easy machinability and superior thermal properties. However, its preparation process still faces several technological limitations including complex, time-consuming and costly synthetic approaches. In this work, a facile and scalable intermittently electroplated method is applied to prepare Cu-coated graphite flake composite powders, which are subsequently sintered into dense composite bulks. The results show that the graphite flake is successfully coated with a uniform and compact Cu shell,which effectively inhibits the segregation accumulation of graphite flakes and contributes to homogeneous distribution of graphite in the sintered graphite flake/Cu composites. The as-sintered composites exhibit an excellent thermal conductivity of 710 W·m-1·K-1and an outstanding bending strength of 93 MPa. Such performance, together with the simple, efficient powder-preparation process, suggests that the present strategy may open up opportunities for the development of thermal management materials. 展开更多

To solve the problem of high photogenerated carrier recombination rate and low photoelectric conversion efficiency of TiO_(2)-based materials,a simple N-doped anatase/rutile TiO_(2) heterophase nanorod film was designed by a low-temperature hydrothermal method in this work.The enhanced separation and transport of photogenerated charges were facilitated by the smaller contact barrier and appropriate band matching between anatase TiO_(2)nanoparticles and rutile TiO_(2) nanorods.The introduction of N doping in anatase TiO_(2) resulted in an upward shift of the valence band and a narrowing of the band gap,consequently enhancing the efficiency of visible light utilization.The combination of the heterophase junction and N-doping exhibited a synergistic effect,effectively suppressing the recombination of photogenerated charges and enhancing the photoelectric conversion efficiency of the photoanode.Under AM 1.5G irradiation,the photocurrent density(J)of the A-TO(N)@R-TONR photoanode reached2.19 mA·cm^(-2)(V_(RHE,1.23 eV)).Additionally,the incident photon-electron conversion efficiency(IPCE)and the charge injection efficiency(η)reached 81.4%and 51.6%at320 nm.Furthermore,the J,IPCE,andηvalues of the A-TO(N)@R-TONR photoanode were 2.96,2.1 and 3.2times those of pure R-TONR photoanode,respectively.This work presents a rational strategy for designing efficient TiO_(2)-based photoanodes. 展开更多

Graphene quantum dots(GQDs)doped InGaO(IGO)thin film transistors(TFTs)have been fabricated based on solution-driven ZrO_(x) as gate dielectrics.Compare to pure IGO TFTs,superior electrical performance of the GQDs-IGO TFTs can be achieved by adjusting the doping concentration.It has been demonstrated that GQDs-modified IGO TFTs devices with GQDs doping content of0.3 mg·ml^(-1)have the optimized performances,including field-effect mobility(μ_(FE))of 22.02 cm^(2)·V^(-1)·s^(-1),on/off current ratio(I_(on)/I_(off))of 7.06×10^(7),subthreshold swing(SS)of 0.09 V·dec^(-1),hysteresis of 0.04 V and interfacial trap states(D_(it))of 1.03×10^(12)cm^(-2).In addition,bias stress and illumination stress tests have been performed and excellent stability has been achieved for optimized GQDs-IGO-TFTs.The GQDs-IGO TFTs device showed smaller threshold voltage shift of 0.12 and 0.04 V under positive bias stress(PBS)test and negative bias stress(NBS)test for 3600 s,respectively.And it showed smaller threshold voltage shift of 0.27 and 0.34 V for red light under the PBS and NBS test for 3600 s,respectively.Meanwhile,it showed smaller threshold voltage shift of0.20 and 0.22 V for green light under PBS and NBS test for3600 s,respectively.It also showed smaller threshold voltage shift of 0.17 and 0.12 V for blue under the positive bias illumination stress(PBIS)test and negative bias illumination stress(NBIS)test for 3600 s,respectively.Lowfrequency noise(LFN)characteristics of GQDs-IGO/ZrO_(x)TFTs indicated that the noise source came from the fluctuations in mobility.Finally,a low voltage resistor-loaded unipolar inverter has been built based on GQDs-IGO/ZrO_(x)TFT,demonstrating good dynamic response behavior and a maximum gain of 7.4.These experimental results have suggested that solution-processed GQDs-IGO/ZrO_(x)TFT may envision potential applications in low-cost and large-area electronics. 展开更多

Developing efficient photosensitizers for C-P bond construction is highly important and remains a challenge due to the urgently needed for the synthesis of modified nucleosides,nucleotides,and other phosphine-containing ligands.Herein,two pyrene-tethered bismoviologen derivatives(Py-BiV^(2+))were designed and synthesized for visible-light-induced C-P bonds formation.The photochemical and electrochemical properties of Py-BiV^(2+)were studied systemically,certifying fine-tunable opto-electronic properties through the number of pyrene groups(4,n=1;6,n=2).The prepared Py-BiV^(2+)showed strong light absorption,while retaining good redox features and chromic response features that were inherent to viologens.4 exhibited accelerated photoinduced electron transfer in the presence of the electron donor(pyrene)and the generated 4(radical cation)showed higher stability.Accordingly,Py-BiV^(2+)directly served as photosensitizers for the first time in the visible-light-induced C(sp^(3))-P and C(sp^(2))-P bonds formation.As expected,these novel viologen derivatives exhibited good catalytic performance and good substrate expansibility under ambient conditions. 展开更多

This work presents solution-processed high-performance graphene quantum dots(GQDs)decorated amor-phous InGaZnO(α-IGZO)thin-film transistors(TFTs)based on ZrO x as gate dielectrics.Compare with pure IGZO TFTs,GQDs-modifiedα-IGZO TFTs devices with optimized doping content have demonstrated better performances,including a larger field-effect mobility(μFE)of 35.91 cm 2 V^(-1)s^(-1),a higher on/offcurrent ratio(I ON/I OFF)of 5.04×10^(8),a smaller subthreshold swing(SS)of 0.11 V dec^(-1)and a smaller interfacial trap states(D it,1.57×10^(12)cm^(−2)).Moreover,the GQDs-doped IGZO TFTs with a doping concentration of 0.5 mg ml^(-1)have shown excellent stability under bias stress and illumination stress conditions.To demonstrate the potential applications ofα-IGZO TFTs in logic circuits,a resistor-loaded unipolar inverter based on GQDs-IGZO/ZrO x has been integrated,demonstrating good dynamic behavior and a high gain of 9.3.Low-frequency noise(LFN)characteristics of GQDs-IGZO/ZrO x TFTs have suggested that the fluctua-tions in mobility are the noise source.Based on all the experimental findings,it can be concluded that solution-processed GQDs-IGZO/ZrO x TFT may envision promising applications in optoelectronics. 展开更多

We consider a bistable mesoscopic chemical reaction system and calculate entropy produc- tion along the dominant pathway during nonequilibrium phase transition. Using probability generating function method and eikonal approximation, we first convert the chemical master equation into the classical Hamilton-Jacobi equation, and then find the dominant pathways between two steady states in the phase space by calculating zero-energy trajectories. We find that entropy productions are related to the actions of the forward and backward dominant pathways. At the coexistence point where the stabilities of the two steady states are equiv alent, both the system entropy change and the medium entropy change are zero; whereas at non-coexistence point both of them are nonzero. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Persistent left superior vena cava(PLSVC),a relatively rare thoracic vascular malformation,can inconvenience perfusionists and operators when encountered during deep hypothermic circulatory arrest(DHCA).CASE SUMMARY Herein,we describe the case of a patient with concurrent giant aortic arch aneurysm,aortic stenosis,and PLSVC.To treat these conditions,we performed right hemiarch and aortic valve replacements under DHCA.Notably,we applied“bilateral superior vena cava retrograde cerebral perfusion(RCP)”for cerebral protection,which significantly optimized the surgical procedure and reduced the risk of postoperative complications.The patient was discharged 14 d after surgery with no complications.CONCLUSION Surgical intervention for PLSVC under DHCA can be performed using the bilateral superior vena cava RCP approach. 展开更多

The development of high-performance neuromorphic phototransistors is of paramount importance for image perception and depth memory learning.Here,based on metal-oxide heterojunction architecture,artificial synaptic phototransistors with synaptic plasticity have been achieved,demonstrating an artificial synapse that integrates central and optic nerve functions.Thanks to the sensitive light-detection properties,the optical power consumption of such photonic artificial synapses can be as low as 22 picojoules,which is extremely competitive compared with other pure metal oxide photoelectric synapses ever reported.What is more,owing to its good short-term(STP)and tunable amplitude-frequency characteristics,the as-constructed device can function as a biomimetic high-pass filter for picture edge detection.Dual-mode synaptic modulation has been performed,combining photonic pulse with gate voltage stimulus.After photoelectric-synergistic modulation,the high synaptic weights enable the device to simulate complex neural learning rules for neuromorphic applications,including gesture recognition,image perception in the visual system,and classically conditioned reflexes.These results suggest that the current oxide-based heterojunction architecture displays potential application in future multifunction neuromorphic devices and systems. 展开更多
