The bench- mark is based on the performance and results of a laboratory drying test and of the ventilation experiment (VE) carried out in the Mont Terri Underground Rock Laboratory (URL). Both tests involve Opalinus clay. The work aims at the identification, understanding and quantification of mechanisms taking place during the ventilation of a gallery in argillaceous host rocks on one hand and at investigating the capacity of different codes and individuals to reproduce these processes on the other hand. The 4-year in situ VE took place in a 1.3 m diameter unlined tunnel and included two resaturation-desaturation cycles. The test area was equipped with over one hundred sensors (including the global water mass balance of the system, relative humidity (RH), water content, liquid pressure, relative displacement and concentration of some chemical species) to monitor the rock behaviour during ventilation. The laboratory drying experiment, carried out before the VE, was designed to mimic the in situ conditions. The work was organized in a progressive manner in terms of complexity of the computations to be performed, geared towards the full hydro-mechano-chemical (HMC) understanding of the VE, the final objective. The main results from the modelling work reported herein are that the response of the host rock to ventilation in argillaceous rocks is mainly governed by hydraulic processes (advective Darcy flow and non-advective vapour diffu- sion) and that the hydro-mechanical (TM) back coupling is weak. A ventilation experiment may thus be regarded as a large scale-long time pump test and it is used to determine the hydraulic conductivity of the rock mass.展开更多

We exclude a zero value for sin22θ13 with a significance of 7.7 standard deviations. Electron antineutrinos from six reactors of 2.9 GWm th were detected in six antineutrino detectors deployed in two near (flux-weighted baselines of 470 m and 576 m) and one far (1648 m) underground experimental halls. Using 139 days of data, 28909 (205308) electron antineutrino candidates were detected at the far hall (near halls). The ratio of the observed to the expected number of antineutrinos assuming no oscillations at the far hall is 0.944± 0.007(stat.) ± 0.003(syst.). An analysis of the relative rates in six detectors finds sin22θ13=0.089± 0.010(stat.)±0.005(syst.) in a three-neutrino framework.展开更多

The elevation of the BBB permeability is associated with the decrease of venous CBF and the increase of its complexity. These data suggest that the cerebral veins rather than microvessels are sensitive components of the CBF related to the opening BBB.展开更多

文摘The Lobster Eye Imager for Astronomy(LEIA),a pathfinder of the Wide-field X-ray Telescope of the Einstein Probe mission, was successfully launched onboard the SATech-01 satellite of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on2022 July 27.In this paper,we introduce the design and on-ground test results of the LEIA instrument.Using stateof-the-art Micro-Pore Optics(MPO),a wide field of view of 346 square degrees(18.6°×18.6°)of the X-ray imager is realized. An optical assembly composed of 36 MPO chips is used to focus incident X-ray photons, and four large-format complementary metal-oxide semiconductor(CMOS)sensors, each of size 6 cm×6 cm,are used as the focal plane detectors. The instrument has an angular resolution of 4’-8’(in terms of FWHM)for the central focal spot of the point-spread function, and an effective area of 2-3 cm^(2) at 1 keV in essentially all the directions within the field of view. The detection passband is 0.5-4 keV in soft X-rays and the sensitivity is2-3×10^(-11) erg s^(-1) cm^(-2)(about 1 milliCrab)with a 1000 s observation. The total weight of LEIA is 56 kg and the power is 85 W.The satellite, with a design lifetime of 2 yr,operates in a Sun-synchronous orbit of 500 km with an orbital period of 95 minutes.LEIA is paving the way for future missions by verifying in flight the technologies of both novel focusing imaging optics and CMOS sensors for X-ray observation, and by optimizing the working setups of the instrumental parameters. In addition,LEIA is able to carry out scientific observations to find new transients and to monitor known sources in the soft X-ray band, albeit with limited useful observing time available.

文摘In this paper, a modelling benchmark exercise from the DECOVALEX-2011 project is presented. A ventilation experiment may thus be regarded as a large scale-long time pump test and it is used to determine the hydraulic conductivity of the rock mass.

文摘Using the SG-III prototype laser at China Academy of Engineering Physics,Mianyang,we irradiated polystyrene(CH)samples with a thermal radiation drive, reaching conditions on the principal Hugoniot up to P≈1 TPa(10 Mbar),and away from the Hugoniot up to P≈300 GPa(3 Mbar). The response of each sample was measured with a velocity interferometry diagnostic to determine the material and shock velocity, and hence the conditions reached, and the reflectivity of the sample, from which changes in the conductivity can be inferred.By applying the selfimpedance mismatch technique with the measured velocities, the pressure and density of thermodynamic points away from the principal Hugoniot were determined. Our results show an unexpectedly large reflectivity at the highest shock pressures, while the off-Hugoniot points agree with previous work suggesting that shock-compressed CH conductivity is primarily temperature-dependent.
文摘Assessment of mining impact on groundwater is one of critical considerations for longwall extension and sustainability, however usually constrained by limited data availability, hydrogeological variation, and the complex coupled hydro-mechanical behaviour. This paper aims to determine the factors and mechanism of groundwater depressurisation and identify knowledge gaps and methodological limitations for improving groundwater impact assessment.Analysis of dewatering cases in Australian,Chinese, and US coalfields demonstrates that piezometric drawdown can further lead to surface hydrology degradation, while the hydraulic responses vary with longwall parameters and geological conditions.Statistical interpretation of 422 height of fracturing datasets indicates that the groundwater impact positively correlates to panel geometry and depth of cover, and more pronounced in panel interaction and top coal caving cases. In situ stress, rock competency, clay mineral infillings, fault, valley topography, and surface-subsurface water interaction are geological and hydrogeological factors influencing groundwater hydraulics and long-term recovery. The dewatering mechanism involves permeability enhancement and extensive flow through fracture networks, where interconnected fractures provide steep hydraulic gradients and smooth flow pathways draining the overlying water to goaf of lower heads.Future research should improve fracture network identification and interconnectivity quantification, accompanied by description of fuid flow dynamics in the high fracture frequency and large fracture aperture context. The paper recommends a research framework to address the knowledge gaps with continuous data collection and field-scale numerical modelling as key technical support. The paper consolidates the understanding of longwall mining impacting mine hydrology and provides viewpoints that facilitate an improved assessment ofgroundwaterdepressurisation.

文摘To prolong the service lifetime of hot-section components used in marine environment at elevated tem-peratures,it is crucial to explore and develop high-temperature corrosion-resistant coatings.High-velocity oxygen fuel(HVOF)sprayed NiCoCrAlY,Pt-modified NiCoCrAlY and pre-oxidized Pt-modified NiCoCrAlY coatings were prepared and investigated. This study is concerned with the performance of three coat-ings in a simulated marine environment based on the phase composition of corrosion products and mi-crostructure evolution of coating samples combined with first-principles density functional theory. The results show that the NiCoCrAlY coating was subject to accelerated corrosion and extensive aluminum depletion, leading to premature coating failure. The high-temperature corrosion resistance of Pt-modified NiCoCrAlY coating was found to be better than that of NiCoCrAlY coating. In contrast, the pre-oxidized Pt-modified NiCoCrAlY coating offered long-lasting protection and exhibited the best corrosion resistance, which is attributed to the positive synergistic effect between Pt modification and pre-oxidation.

文摘This study aimed to investigate the erosion behavior and mechanism of a newly developed 25Cr3Mo2WNiV steel with a chrome coating using promoted ignition combustion tests. The erosion threshold pressure and temperature of the chrome-coated 25Cr3Mo2WNiV steel were determined to be 0.2 MPa and 254.3 K higher than those of traditional chrome-coated 30SiMn2MoV steel.Furthermore,Kirkendall voids and inter-diffusion between the Cr coating and matrix were first observed before ero-sion.The improved erosion resistance of the chrome-coated 25Cr3Mo2WNiV steel was attributed to the suppression of the Kirkendall effect, which minimized heat generation at the Cr/matrix interface by pre-venting oxygen diffusion and reducing oxygen affinity.

文摘We report an improved measurement of the neutrino mixing angle θ13 from the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment. An analysis of the relative rates in six detectors finds sin22θ13=0.089± 0.010(stat.)±0.005(syst.) in a three-neutrino framework.

文摘The cerebral blood flow(CBF) alterations related to sound-induced opening of the blood–brain barrier(BBB) in adult mice are studied using laser speckle contrast imaging(LSCI) and wavelet analysis of vascular physiology. The results clearly show that the opening of the BBB is accompanied by the changes of venous but not microvessel circulation in the brain. The elevation of the BBB permeability is associated with the decrease of venous CBF and the increase of its complexity. These data suggest that the cerebral veins rather than microvessels are sensitive components of the CBF related to the opening BBB.
文摘High transverse momentum(pT)particle production is suppressed owing to the parton(jet)energy loss in the hot dense medium created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions.Redistribution of energy at low-to-modest pT has been difficult to measure, owing to large anisotropic backgrounds. We report a data-driven method for background evaluation and subtraction, exploiting the away-side pseudorapidity gaps,to measure the jetlike correlation shape in Au+Au collisions at √sNN=200 GeV in the STAR experiment. The correlation shapes, for trigger particles pT>3GeV/c and various associated particle pT ranges within 0.5<pT<10GeV/c,are consistent with Gaussians, and their widths increase with centrality. The results indicate jet broadening in the medium created in central heavy-ion collisions.

文摘The establishment of a possible connection between neutrino emission and gravitational-wave(GW)bursts is important to our understanding of the physical processes that occur when black holes or neutron stars merge. In the Daya Bay experiment, using the data collected from December 2011 to August 2017,a search was per-formed for electron-antineutrino signals that coincided with detected GW events, including GW150914,GW151012,GW151226,GW170104,GW170608,GW 170814,and GW 170817.We used three time windows of±10,±500,and±1000 s relative to the occurrence of the GW events and a neutrino energy range of 1.8 to 100 MeV to search for correlated neutrino candidates. The detected electron-antineutrino candidates were consistent with the expected background rates for all the three time windows.Assuming monochromatic spectra,we found upper limits(90%confidence level)of the electron-antineutrino fluence of(1.13-2.44)×10^(11)cm^(-2)at 5 MeV to 8.0×10^(7)cm^(-2)at 100 MeV for the three time w indows.Under the assumption of a Fermi-Dirac spectrum, the upper limits were found to be(5.4-7.0)×10^(9)cm^(2)for the three time windows.
文摘A search for the rare decays W^(+)→D_(s)^(+)γ and Z→D0γis performed using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV,corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0fb−1.No significant signal is observed for either decay mode and upper limits on their branching fractions are set using W^(+)→D_(s)^(+)γ and Z→μ+μ−decays as normalization channels. The upper limits are 6.5×10^(−4) and 2.1×10^(−3) at 95% confidence level for the W^(+)→D_(s)^(+)γ and Z→D^(0)γ decay modes, respectively. This is the first reported search for the Z→D^(0)γ decay, while the upper limit on the W+→D+sγbranching fraction improves upon the previous best limit.
文摘In June 2024,the world’s first full high temperature superconducting(HTS)tokamak has successfully achieved its first plasma operation in Shanghai,China[1].This tokamak device,HH70,is designed by Energy Singularity Fusion Power Technology(Shanghai)Ltd.(ES Company)in Shanghai,China. The conceptual and engineering design of HH70 was initiated in June 2022,whose major radius(R_(0))and minor radius(a)are 0.7-0.75 m and 0.25-0.31 m,respectively. Its toroidal magnetic field B_(0)at R_(0)=0.7 m is 0.6 T,the total inductance of the tor-oidal field(TF)magnet are 6.48 H.Over the past two years,ES company has achieved the first milestone:suc-cessfully design, construct and operate an HTS tokamak, and has amassed experience and know‐how about such a first‐of‐its‐kind HTS device. The HH70 tokamak’s magnet system consists of three types of coils:central solenoid(CS)coil, poloidal field(PF)coil, and toroidal field(TF)coil,in which all of the coils are fabricated by HTS conductors.Hence, the HH70 is currently the first tokamak in the world to be fully integrated with HTS coils, marking a groundbreaking advancement in fusion technology.

文摘The prediction of reactor antineutrino spectra will play a crucial role as reactor experiments enter the precision era.The positron energy spectrum of 3.5 million antineutrino inverse beta decay reactions observed by the Daya Bay experiment,in combination with the fission rates of fissile isotopes in the reactor,is used to extract the positron energy spectra resulting from the fission of specific isotopes. This information can be used to produce a precise,data-based prediction of the antineutrino energy spectrum in other reactor antineutrino experiments with different fission fractions than Daya Bay.The positron energy spectra are unfolded to obtain the antineutrino energy spectra by removing the contribution from detector response with the Wiener-SVD unfolding method.Consistent results are obtained with other unfolding methods.A technique to construct a data-based prediction of the reactor antineutrino energy spectrum is proposed and investigated.Given the reactor fission fractions, the technique can predict the energy spectrum to a 2%precision.In addition,we illustrate how to perform a rigorous comparison between the unfolded antineutrino spectrum and a theoretical model prediction that avoids the input model bias of the unfolding method.

文摘We report the high-purity identification of cosmic-ray(CR)protons and a precise measurement of their energy spectrum from 0.15 to 12 PeV using the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory(LHAASO).Abundant event statistics, combined with the simultaneous detection of electrons/photons,muons,and Cherenkov light in air showers, enable spectroscopic measurements with statistical and systematic precision comparable to satellite data at lower energies. The proton spectrum shows significant hardening relative to low-energy extrapolations, culminating at 3 PeV,followed by sharp softening. This distinct spectral structure closely aligned with the knee in the all-particle spectrum points to the emergence of a new CR component at PeV energies that might be linked to the dozens of PeVatrons recently discovered by LHAASO,and offers crucial clues to the origin of Galactic cosmic rays.
