The fluid is electrically conducting in the presence of an applied magnetic field. Analysis is carried out under the assumption of long wavelength and low Reynolds number approximations. Expressions of the pressure gradient, volume flow rate, average volume flow rate, and local wall shear stress are obtained. The effects of relaxation time, retardation time, Hartman number on pressure, local wall shear stress, and mechanical efficiency of peristaltic pump are studied. The reflux phenomenon is also investigated. The case of propagation of a non-integral number of waves along the tube walls, which are inherent characteristics of finite length vessels, is also examined.展开更多

The effects of viscous dissipation and internal heat generation/absorption are taken into account. Two explicit cases, i.e., the prescribed surface temperature (PST) and the prescribed heat flux (PHF), are discussed. The boundary layer flow and energy equations are solved by employing the homotopy analysis method. The quantities of physical interest are examined through the presenta- tion of plots/tabulated values. It is noticed that the existence of the solutions for high shrinking parameters is associated closely with the applied magnetic field.展开更多

The microstructure of the spinel ferrite (AlFe2O4) was examined by atomic force microscopy. The current-voltage characteristics of the fabricated photodiode were studied under dark and different illumination conditions at room temperature. By using the thermionic emission theory, the forward bias I-V characteristics of the photodiode are analyzed to determine the main electrical parameters such as the ideality factor (n) and barrier height (ФB0) of the photodiode. The values of n and ФB0 for all conditions are found to be about 7.00 and 0.76 eV, respectively. In addition, the values of series resistance (Rs) are determined using Cheung's method and Ohm's law. The values of Rs and shunt resistance (Rsh) are decreased with the increase of illumination intensity. These new spinel ferrites will open a new avenue to other spinel structure materials for optoelectronic devices in the near future.展开更多

Velocity of the stretching sheet is assumed to be time-dependent. Effect of mass transfer with higher order chemical reaction is further considered. Computations are made by the homptopy analysis method (HAM). Con- vergence of the obtained series solutions is explicitly analyzed. Variations of embedding parameters on the velocity and concentration are graphically discussed. Numerical com- putations of surface mass transfer are reported. Comparison of the present results with the numerical solutions is also given.展开更多

The problem is modeled in a cylindrical coordinate system. The main theme of the present analysis is to study the endoscopic effects on the peristaltic flow of the Waiter's B fluid. To the best of the authors' knowledge, no investigation has been made so far in the literatures to study the Walter's B fluid in an endoscope. Analytical solutions axe obtained using the regular perturbation method by taking 5 as a perturbation parameter. The approximate analytical solutions for the pressure rise and friction forces are evaluated using numerical integration. The effects of emerging parameters of the Waiter's B fluid are presented graphically.展开更多
