摘要
美国社会和教育中存在的问题是弗莱克斯纳现代大学功能观产生的客观条件,弗莱克斯纳在霍普金斯大学的求学经历及其丰富的教育实践经验对其现代大学功能观的形成起了决定和强化作用。弗莱克斯纳认为,现代大学应具有发展科学和培养人才两大功能,其中,发展科学是现代大学的首要功能。
The problems existing in American society and education promoted the production of Flexner’s idea about modern university function objectively.Flexn er’s own learning experience in Hopkins and his rich educational experience dec ided and enforced his idea about modern university function.Flexner thought that a modern university should have two functions:advancing science and cultivating talents.Advancing science was the principal function of a modern university.
