摘要
本研究通过抽样对比分析方式 ,对英语本族人和中国人所写的英文和汉语学术论文的开头段作了语言结构、语篇模式和思维方式等方面的研究。研究发现 ,英语学术论文的开头大多采用“转折式”,语篇模式呈线性 ;而汉语学术论文的开头大多采用“因果式”,语篇模式呈“包容型”或“分解排除型”。本研究认为 。
This study explores how Chinese differs from English in terms of the structuring of beginning paragraphs of academic writings especially regarding language structure, discourse organization as well as the implied thinking patterns via detailed sample analysis of both English and Chinese academic texts. It is revealed that in English academic writings the topic (or theme) tends to be led in by an ‘adversative', but the paragraph develops linearly, whereas in Chinese academic writings the topic will be reached through an introduction of causes or reasons and the text develops in a ‘conducive' or ‘excluding' fashion. These differences, the paper argues, might be the reflections of the different thinking patterns followed respectively by the Chinese and the English speaking people.
