This paper introduces the concept of AM/FM/GIS. The characteristics of GIS in the power distribution system is discussed. This paper also recounts the basic application of AM/FM/GIS to the power distribution system. Furthermore, the main functions of AM/FM/GIS such as power distribution modeling, power use management and planning, power distribution running simulation and analysis, are discussed.
