快速眼动睡眠中桥—膝—枕波的发生及神经功能相关研究进展

摘要 快速眼动(REM)睡眠也称为异相睡眠(PS)是与做梦密切关联的主要睡眠。桥—膝—枕(PGO)波是可在动物REM睡眠中记录到的标志性局部场电位脑波,在大脑外源信息处理受限时呈现了REM睡眠的生理机制,它就像讯息从脑桥发出传递到视觉丘脑的外侧膝状核,再至枕叶视觉皮层以及其他脑区。PGO波这一特有视觉通路可被大脑解读为一种视觉信息引起梦的视觉幻觉。PGO波刺激大脑皮层被认为既反映了REM睡眠期脑活动状态也反映了梦的起源。本文综述了PGO波在两个主要梦理论神经环路中的作用,即(1)梦产生于脑干神经活动激活;(2)PGO波信号向大脑皮层传播。此外,还讨论了REM睡眠期PGO波潜在的生理功能,如记忆巩固、主动遗忘、大脑发育和可塑性以及情绪调节以期促进人类PGO波及其可能功能的相关研究。 Rapid eye movement(REM)sleep,also known as paradoxical sleep(PS),is the primary sleep stage closely associated with dreaming.Ponto-geniculo-occipital waves(PGO waves)are the characteristic local field potential brain waves recorded during REM sleep in animals.They represent the physiological mechanism of REM sleep when the processing of external information by the brain is limited.PGO waves are like messages sent from the pons to the lateral geniculate nucleus of the thalamus,then to the occipital visual cortex and other brain regions.This unique visual pathway of PGO waves can be interpreted by the brain as visual information causing visual hallucinations in dreams.The stimulation of the cerebral cortex by PGO waves is believed to reflect both the brain activity state during REM sleep and the origin of dream generation.This article reviews the role of PGO waves in two major neural circuits of dream theories:(1)dream generation is activated by brainstem neural activity;(2)the propagation of PGO wave signals to the cerebral cortex.Additionally,the potential physiological functions of PGO waves during REM sleep are discussed,such as memory consolidation,active forgetting,brain development and plasticity,and emotion regulation.It is hoped that this article will promote research on human PGO waves and their possible functions.
