摘要
Ceramics museums present ceramic culture to visitors through exhibitions displayed in purposefully designed spaces and supported by relevant technologies. They have not only become important venues for revitalizing cultural heritage, but also key venues for dialogues among civilizations. However, many museums face structural challenges as domestic exhibitions mostly focus on diachronic and historical narratives while neglecting the synchronic and cross-cultural diffusion of ceramics. This imbalance in cross-cultural narratives in Chinese and foreign museums undermines the holistic significance of ceramics as a medium for mutual learning among civilizations and limits museums’role as platforms for cross-cultural dialogues. In response, this study analyzes the exhibition designs of Chinese and foreign museums within a logical framework supported by relevant theories. It further develops a cross-cultural research framework and a cross-cultural dialogue model to provide a reference for future cross-cultural exchanges between Chinese and foreign ceramics museums.
