摘要
20世纪上半叶,汉语古诗英译活动承前启后,形成了繁荣兴盛的局面,不仅将汉诗的域外传播推向了新的高度,而且为随后汉诗英译事业及中西文化的深入交流奠定了坚实的基础。本文依托时代背景,立足相关史料和史实,围绕译者、译本、理论三方面关键要素梳理本时期汉语古诗英译活动的发展脉络,阐释其阶段性特征和整体样貌,以此勾勒并呈现汉语古诗在20世纪上半叶的英译历程。
In the first half of the 20^(th) century,the activities of translating ancient Chinese poetry into English served as a link between the past and the future,creating a thriving and prosperous situation.These activities not only greatly propelled the overseas dissemination of ancient Chinese poetry,but also laid a solid foundation for the subsequent undertakings in this regard and the in-depth cultural exchanges between China and the West.Based on the background of the era and grounded in relevant historical materials and facts,this paper sorts out the development context of the activities of translating ancient Chinese poetry into English during this period,focusing on the three key elements of translators,translation works,and theories.It interprets the stage characteristics and the overall appearance,thus outlining and presenting the English translation history of ancient Chinese poetry into English in the first half of the 20th century.
