The design problem of adding pole placement constraint to prevent pole/zero cancellations in the H ∞ mixed sensitivity problem is studied. The LMI for the robust pole placement under multiplicative uncertainty is presented. The treatment of performance weighting function in the problem of pole placement constraint is discussed. A design example of H ∞ control of a flexible system is also given.
