Changes in the current drive efficiency and the current profile control with plasma parameters and injected lower hybrid (LH) wave spectra have been discussed for lower hybrid current drive (LHCD) experiments. The role of wave accessibility in determining the deposited power profile is studied. Methods of controlling the current density profile and the possibility of central negative shear configuration caused by LHCD in the HL 2A tokmak are explored.
