For along time, English word "Health" is often translated into "SEaL"in Chinese. In the pre-mod- ern era, "Health" means "to protect lives", but with the invasion of colonialism and the spread of western medicine, the meaning of health is becoming narrower. Currently, it is mainly used to refer to clean environment without bacteria and virus. It is quite different from "hygiene", and its extension is larger than "hygiene". There- fore, it is easy to cause misunderstanding in many situations if "Health" is translated into "卫生". And there is some cognitive root for this mistranslation. Actually, if "Health" is simply translated into "卫生", the issues con- cerning health will be one-sided and simplified, and meanwhile artificially reduce some institutions functions, and limit the development of related disciplines.
