摘要英国作家托马斯.哈代在《无名的裘德》当中,刻画了女主人公苏.布莱德赫德在追求经济独立、思想解放、爱情自由与婚姻平等上作出积极的尝试。然而现实和自身因素纠缠于女性意识复苏的矛盾当中,苏的自我探索最终走向毁灭。小说借女性生存困境的描写,探讨人类未来命运、人生价值及意义。 This paper focuses on Sue Bridehead in the novel Jude the Obscure to elaborate upon the character of this Victorian woman who pursues self-exploration in economic independence,religious emancipation,freedom of love and equality in marriage.But the bleak reality and hard fate of the protagonist are intervened in the female role awaking.All Sue’s efforts lead to her final doom,through which this novel presents a thorough reassessment on human fate,the value and meaning of life.
