The Speech of King George VI during the War is a typical political address deli- cate diction and expression. Diction reflects speaker＇s attitudes. From the perspective of Mar- tin and White＇ s Appraisal theory, the diction of the speech is analyzed from the aspects of atti- tude, engagement, and gradation to reveal the interpersonal meaning in the speech. In order to motivate people＇ s passion and win their support, he chose emotional words, strategically and gradually, making his speech passionate, convincing, and expressive.
