摘要
西方文明的文化基因有二:"唯一真"与"人"。2000多年历史的"唯一真"使他们趋于极端、绝对和排他。"人"是几百年前出现的基因,可分"泛人"与"个人"。前者强调平等,后者强调自由。两者都坚持是"唯一真"。从此西方文明患上性格分裂。城市规划中的"公平"与"效率"之争、"私人利益"与"公众利益"之辩都是反映这个分裂。其实绝大部分的规划概念都有其文化基因,将来会系列地介绍。
There are two sets of cultural DNA in Western Civilization： ＂One Truth＂ and ＂Man＂. ＂One Truth＂ has been in existence for over 2000 years, and makes the Western Civilization strident, absolute and exclusionary. ＂Man＂ has emerged in the last few hundred years and morphed into Humanism and Individualism, both insisting they are the ＂One Truth＂. Western Civilization has become schizophrenic. The debates of ＂equity＂ versus ＂efficiency＂ and ＂private interest＂ versus ＂public interest＂ reflect this situation. In fact, most planning ideas have their cultural DNA, which will be discussed in a future series of articles.
