摘要
对自然英语的６篇文学作品用信息论方法进行了统计研究，结果表明：１）自然英语的字母间统计关联呈典型的短程相关性，关联曲线具有普适性，这种关联主要源于英语的构词特点，２）词频分布有近似幂律行为．
The statistical properties of the 6 English texts are investigated by use of information theory.It shows that 1) there is a typical short range statistical correlation between the letters in English text,the correlation curve is universal and this correlation property originates from the feature of construction of English words;2) the distribution of word frequency approximately obeys a power law.Comparison of statistical properties between DNA sequences and natural English is discussed.
